Great neighborhood. Very clean, accommodating and helpful staff. Good location.Old building had a modicum of charm but then, I stayed on the first floor.Can't say about the upper storeys.

Shared bath, but I didn't really mind it and it was very clean.

Very safe and quiet. I have stayed three separate times. My daughter is at NYU and it is centrally located for the campus and the two dorms that she has lived in. 3 blocks to Union Square subway, which gets you to the theater district in 10 mins. This time the front desk moved me to a single with a sink on request, and took care of my luggage while I was out. The apt that I planned to stay in for the rest of my trip, was not quite ready and I was able to add another night on for the same rate. (It was midweek, which helped).I plan to stay here again on future visits to my daughter. It is not luxury, but neither is the price. It is quite a good value!

In the past, I've always stayed in a double room, which have sinks in them. Handy, so you don't have to go to common bath for everything. This time I stayed in a single, which didn't have a sink. Kinda skeeved me out, as other travelers don't really clean up after themselves. The next morning, I asked if any singles had sinks, and they do! They moved all my stuff to another room and I was a happy traveler. The staff does a great job making sure bathrooms are clean each day. Just be aware that other travelers are probably not as tidy after their shower and teeth brushing as you are.

The hotel was like a Victorian ambiance very quaint. It was very clean and I was very impressed. Staff very friendly and helpful. I will come back again!

1. That they do not take American Express Credit Cards 2.Could be time for a bit of a décor update in the rooms, new carpet and comforters on Beds will go a long to spruce things up.

The hotel was beautiful, completely efficient, has fast and easy booking, was very close to union square and not a far hike from anything. It is also located on a nice clean fairly quiet street with several on street parking options right around the corner. Couldn't ask for much more!!

This hotel comes with a great price tag for New York city and you are so central you can walk everywhere in New York. It was nothing special but just exactly what you need when you are exploring the city.

There was a load clanging noise a few times during the night which woke us up. I think it was the heating coming on. Otherwise it was great!

The hotel room was small but nice and cosy. The bathroom was outside of the room, in the corridor, but always clean and available. I am going to stay in the same hotel while visiting NY in the future.

One of us found bed too small and not as comfortable as we would like.

My trip was too short.

I was looking for a low-cost Hotel in downtown New York and I found hotel 17 I was pleasantly surprised The rooms are small - hey its New York City but they are clean if you are traveling with children as I was you might find it a little disconcerting to be sharing a bathroom on the same floor with others...but things worked out fine

There really isn't much to dislike about hotel 17 it's just not typical of American hotels as long as you can keep your mind on this perspective you will have a great time You sure can't beat the price

Location & price and that they're (so far) a bed bug free hotel... which is a HUGE plus in NYC, where so many hotels are infested with them. This place was a GREAT deal for the $$$, clean and basic - although the bathrooms have to be shared, the staff keeps them spotless!

Not a lot... Was a good location.

Everything else. Was dirty, did not clean my room, was loud, my tv did not work, staff was not helpfully at all. Do I need to go on...

A little noisy due to refurbishment in the next room.

This hotel is good value for money in the Manhattan. Shared bathrooms are outside the rooms, but they are clean and only some meters from rooms and never occupied. There is special gentleman living in this hotel who tried to sell his stuffed raccoon (bought for hundred and quarter) to the staff. This disscussion what I had great honour to listen would have made top 10 documentary.

the location of this hotel is very good. We can easy to go to the subway. And the staff of this hotel is also very nice.

Location, price and uniqueness.

More than two bathrooms on each floor, updating (new wall paper and maybe ice machine and or pop/juice machine in building), and seating in lobby.

The location, location, location. The price. James at the front desk was polite and helpful.

Rm 217 is VERY small for 2 adults and a double bed. No place to get luggage out of the way of the precious floor space in such a small room.
