Location and Price. The shared bathrooms were modern and clean Somehow no housekeeping staff ever cleaned anything in my room. maybe I was supposed to notify the front room when I left for the day. If that is the case he should have been told

The Hotel is nice and Clean, and the Price cannot be Beat, as far as I know. This is my second time staying at this hotel. It is in a great quiet location, and close to the subway, which can get you to the Times Square within 5 min. The Hotel Staff could be a little friendlier, but besides that they made sure that all our needs were taken care of. The Hotel is very well maintained. And I will always recommend this hotel to all my friends. The bathroom and shower are down the hall which may turn some people off, but it was never a problem and we never had to wait in line either time we stayed at this hotel.

The location of the hotel. Less than 10 mins walk to Union Sq, as well as the subway. Shopping, food and convenience stores readily within reach without having to take subway. Room and shared bathrooms were clean. It would be better if hotel could provide some liquid handwash. Just that the reception at hotel 31 was relatively more hospitable. Really depends on who serves you though!

Location is super convenient!! The quality of service was pretty unstable, the manager was polite and helpful but the rest of staff were not at all. (also they forgot to clean up our room once) The facility is very average if not below... It's share bathroom, and the hot water would just stop from time to time....

The room is small! I lived in 3rd floor, the door even cannot be locked. Bathroom is shared with 5-6 rooms. Filthy smell all over the floor.

The hotel was a little gloomy but the rooms were clean and most of the staff was friendly. The shared bathrooms were clean and I never had to wait. It was great that you could drop your bag early and they offered to hod your bag after check out if you were still in the city for the day. The night reception was a little gruff. Made me feel like you get what you pay for but it's New York.

I stayed for 5 nights and generally enjoyed my stay. The location is very good, right in the middle of Manhattan and nice area around the hotel (it's near to Union sq.). The building and rooms are nice, the hotel is in the old building which adds to the atmosphere. Internet signal was reliable. There is also a safe box in the hotel. The showers (thoguh shared) had strong water pressure. I guess price / quality ratio depends so much on the place you visit. I paid around 145 usd (including tax) per night for a single room in Hotel 17. There was no breakfast, bathrooms were on the hallway, so sometimes there was a queue in the morning rush :). I guess it was the most basic hotel for such money that I have ever stayed in. However, I did not find anything better and finally felt satisfied.

Location is very good. The Nearest station is '3 Av'. There is also a nice cafe near the hotel. I was able to go to Times Square in 15 min by train. It takes time to the Airport around one hour.

For the location and standard it was great value for money. Loved the decor and feel of the hotel. Shared bathroom was not an issue at all. The staff were great, offering tips and booked an airport shuttle for us.

Size of room was fantastic compared to first night in new York at a far more expensive place! This time we could actually lay our 3 bags on the floor. Probably helped to have share bathroom facilities which was no issue at all. Just a wee walk down the carpeted hallway! Only minus was urine smell in hallway which they tried to fix but simply did not work. Fortunately it did not permeate the room.

Good location for the price. We were worried about the shared bathroom and toilet, but there was regular cleaning going on. And there always seemed to be one shower available. The room was rather charming - comfortable and very clean. The Reception was efficient. The first person on Reception seemed a bit surly. But others were great and he warmed up. Someone said in passing 'The only thing wrong with this hotel is the lift' and I guess that was true. But it wasn't that bad. Shame there wasn't a kettle in the room. That would have been perfect.

We liked the friendliness of the staff and the location - a fairly quiet street right in the city with cafes nearby. The shared bathrooms were occasionally very smelly and their facilities were hardly attractive. An iron and ironing board would have been useful.

Go out the door turn right and walk 2 blocks to subway (Union Square) a great ny neighborhood with friendly restaurants and delis. Charming old ny style hotel with lots of character, immaculately clean. Bathrooms down the hall but not a problem. Staff exceptionally helpful. Arranged transportation for our group of 14 to and from Newark airport at a reasonable rate. Rooms are small but everything you need is there. Quietest place I've stayed in ny. Beds and pillows very comfortable. Superb location. I loved it.

Value for money is what comes to mind. This hotel is a budget hotel and have in mind while traveling to nyc you're not staying at the hotel. You go there to sleep. We first stayed in room 215 but the laud noises from the street kept us from sleeping. We got moved to room 316 wich is a lovely room. If you want a quiet night don't stay at a room with a window toward the street or the lower levels. You easily hear the laud noises from the street through thin window.

Don't let the shared bathrooms deter you; they were clean and just down the hall anyways. This place is clean, friendly and on a quiet tree- lined street on 17th. It's charming and has what you need. Building's central heat was on and our separate window ac had to be used to compensate.

Good hotel for its price in the heart of nyc. The only unsuitable is shared bathroom. It seldom is busy and clean enought. I advise to have slippers. First night of my staying in the room was very cold. I tald about it and room was changed. Location is Perfect: 3 minutes to union square and broadway, 20 min walk to times square, 40-50 walk to central park, 30-40 walk to financial district Shared bathroom- but it is the reason of its low price
