Hotel 309 location is great - subway line is very close as well as lots of shopping and dining opportunities, Apple Store W14th is just one block away. The staff was very helpful and the shared bathroom was no problem at all. It was hardly ever occupied. The place has no evevator so have it mind however I was offered help with my luggage. Contrary to what my booking confirmation said - there is free Wi-Fi available now. If you want to have quiet time at night, ask for the back yard facing room: there was no view but it was calm. In a word - it's a good budget hotel, nothing fancy, just a good place to have a rest from nyc exploration trips, great location and helpful staff. No elevator, no meals served at the hotel however this was in the hotel info so it is just something you should agree not to have before confirming you booking at Hotel 309. The receptionist is not always there and you should call up on him/her using Intercom. But these are very minor disadvantages, no disappointment at all, Other than that, I highly recommend staying at 309 for the budget-minded travellers.

We paid extra for a room with an attached bathroom. We stayed for 6 days. Out of that the bathroom was clogged & we couldnt use the shower for 3 days. Upon complaining to the management - their best reply was we guaranteed your room would have an attached bathroom but we didnt guarantee it would work.

The staff was just incredible. I left my lguggage the last day as I had several hours between checkout and departing the city. The staff even found a book I had left under the bed and put it with my belongings for me. They let me use the bathroom downstairs-find a free bathroom in nyc!-- And were simply amazing throughout my entire stay. My room was at the head of teh landing and people had a tendency to gather there and talk, very loudly and at all hours. A family stayed down the hall and they chose that spot to eat breakfast because a bench was there. But that was not the hotel's fault, it might be nice if they would post some signs telling guests to remember their manners in public spaces though.

We found the staff to be friendly but not invasive, the rooms clean and simple and the ocation ideal for our needs. Unknown to us the hotel was under rennovation. We should have been told as it was obviously an inconvenience. If you cannot walk up stairs you must request a lower floor.

I would just like you to know (and I did lodge a complaint with the hotel and heard nothing). I was charged around $40 more than I was quoted by you. I asked for a receipt several times and finally received one which had nothing to do with the price I had paid. In the end I received 3 receipts (which I still have) all showing different amounts and all much less than what I actually paid. Lots of other people had similar complaints.

A very nice though simple hotel in the very trendy area of Chelsea, ny, near the Highline. The room was very nice, equipped with a small kitchen and bathroom (there are also rooms that share bathrooms for more budget travelers, but we chose one with bathroom to fit our needs as a family). The 14th st. Subway station is next door, so transportation is made very easily. We enjoyed the hotel very much and happy to recomend it to others. There is no elevator, so the place is not for people who cannot climd one or two floors up to their room (the friendly staff helps carrying heavy suitcases). Wi-Fi costs additional payment.

Awesome location - in meat packing district, good subway station 20 metres away (multiple lines including lines that connect with Airtrain to jfk), deli/shops/cafes nearby, excellent late night diner end of the block. Price/value was great for nyc. Rooms aren't massive but perfectly functional (and very reasonable for the price) and included a kitchenette. Staff were pleasant. Best recommendation I can give really is that based on our satisfaction with our initial stay, we rebooked for a second stay after leaving to visit Niagara Falls. No elevator (I think there's about 5 floors). Front desk not 24hrs (not necessarily a negative at this pricepoint but just to let you know).

Great locatoin, right next to the subway. Staff very friendly and helpful. Clean simple rooms that are very spacious. If you are trying to sleep in, it won't happen. For some reason the noise travels easily.

All the staff was very nice and helpful. They saw that we will be a little packed in the room we have booked and the second day they managed to moved to a better room. The location is good, although the borough doesn't have many places of interest, it's centrally situated and it has a subway station just in the corner where you can use to go to the main places.

Excellent value for money if you want to stay close to Chelsea, The Village, SoHo and Meatpacking District. Subway to take you uptown is just around the Corner. Friendly staff and nice rooms. The shared bathrooms were clean and fresh all day. If you are a couple of friends booking rooms with shared bathroom, ask for the double rooms with have shared bathroom, so you only share with your friends.

The location is the best...14th st & 8th av. Everything you need is close. Food, drink, the Villiage, Chelsea, Highline Park, Soho, all within easy walking distance. The room was very basic, but clean, with fridge and microwave and sink. Bathrooms down the hall were always available and very clean. We will stay there again. This hotel is located in an area that has a busy nightlife, especially on weekends. It can be noisy at night if your room faces 14th st. Not the hotel's fault....that's just New York. Bring some earplugs and sleep well.

Price and location were excellent. Room was big enough for three persons, it didn´t disturb that we had shared bathroom, because only 2 rooms used this bathroom. Noise at night was terrible, cars travelling, people partying in the bars around. The cleaning of the room was poor, sometimes they emptied the dustbin and that was the whole cleaning during the week.
