Appliances didn't work no elevator
I couldn't sleep cause I was so grossed out
When in New York for the first time, I would ideally have stood at the legendary Chelsea; this being impossible, I would say that the 309 keeps an informal, bohemian, charming and very New York style, at the center of everything for a quite reasonable fare. I was very satisfied and I would recommend the 309 to similar like-minded travellers.
Very poor cleanliness No elevator Staff response to our basic request (clean the room) was very slow, we had to ask 3 days in a row to get a reaction and even after that we could not say that the room was spotless.... The value for money is poor, for the same price you can actually book a proper hotel, maybe in a less hot location but with proper hotel service. This place is good for young backpacking people as an hostel, but nothing more.
location room size and amenities
Location is extremely nice, including metro stops close by. Rooms are nice although a bit small, personel was nice and helpful.
A bit noisy (note I had a room facing the internal court), mainly from people chatting in the corridors
The front desk people were friendly and helpful.m
Lack of an elevator is the main downfall.
Great people working in the hotel, everything was fine. Bit expensive for my budget but i recommend it.
Expensive wifi and doesn't work very good specially at night.
Location is truly perfect and the area is safe. The hotel has a cute little backyard, which is a perfect spot to enjoy before you go to bed after a tiring day.
Cleaniness formed a great issue. The bathrooms were dirty. The walls seemed to be rather old and gave the sense of a not-taken-care-of facility. The hotel does not have an elevator which causes a big deal if you have big luggage as the steps are a lot and they are pretty narrow.
Location is fair
Everyting!!! Stairs no elevator, horribly small, no shower in the rooms... Etc
There were some things I did not like at arrival, for example the room with broken airconditioning, the internet that did not work on my devices and the fact that the bathroom was shared (although I knew that beforehand). However, the staff did everything to make my stay as comfortable as possible. The internet worked, I got a much nicer room with ac and had access to two bathrooms. This hotel is excellent in location and if you need a place to sleep and keep your things safe!
The fact that you have to pay for wifi.
Like staying in a very expensive, grotty hostal. Security poor. Ventilation appalling. Appliances not good enough. Website misleading.
Matthew and Mya lyn were very helpful.
Quick subway access was a big plus, and it was easy to get a cab on the corner when riding the subway wasn't convenient. Having a kitchenette in the room was very convenient too.
Mattress was poor quality. Room was so narrow it was nearly impossible to get around the bed to open/close the window, which was very drafty and made the room quite cold the last night I was there when the temp dropped to nearly freezing.
The moment we checked out.
To make it short: this "hotel" is full of rats and mouses (seen and heard during every day of our stay), cock-roaches (seen twice in the bathroom), and bed-bugs (felt every night of our stay). The breakfast is a joke, the staff friendly but incompetent and certainly a part of the rip-off. To sum it up: stay away!
(relatively) good price but JUST in comparison to other nyc hotels good location next to 14th street station
creepy atmosphere, dark, smelly and scary hallways shared bathrooms basically just an average hostel but for the price of a hotel (in europe one would pay 30 euros for this)
Location: close to lots of bars and stores and subway stations. Staff was very helpfull. Confort: The room has a good space for the luggage and it has a small kitchen, so we could buy some things to eat there.
Only for a couple days the shared bathroon was dirty and stinking. In the rest of our stay it was ok. In two days, the paid wifi didn't work well. The staff said they had a problem with that. The air conditioning was a little bit noisy, the door of the fridge has a tiny problem to close, so as the microwave. It seems that almost everything has a trick to work.
Small room at least mine, The noite u can ear inside The room but its new york and really centered hotel so
The location is very good because it is near subway station, Chelsea Market, apple store, Catholic Church, high line park, good resto bars etc... Hotel rate is very practical compared to other hotels in the nearby location. I like the room because there is a sofa, kitchen sink, refrigerator and coffee maker. It is like an apartment where you can stay for a long period of time. They have spacious backyard at the back where you can just sit and relax after a stressful or tiring day.
My room was on the ground floor that's why I hear the sound of police sirens, ambulance and people talking by the street. The main doors are not locked so I get paranoid that strangers may just come inside the building. So I see to it that my room was always double locked. They only offer bread and coffee for breakfast.
Location is 20 metres from a main underground stop, front desk staff are super helpful and friendly, back patio is a great outdoor space when the weather is good.
Its a budget hotel, so any problems I found negated by the price
Overall hotel condition. Its an old hotel, tiny room and had no escalator. In pictures it look comfortable and spacious while in reality it is something awful
the location at 8th Av. & 14th St. is great. If you get a room facing the back, it's absolutely quiet and great too. Facing the street--forget it unless you love traffic noise. The price is certainly right for NYC, plus you get a mini kitchen-- great! The futon couch was a real plus.
the room was cramped for 2 people, literally as wide as the bed is long (plus one foot to get around it). The furniture has dings and chips; lighting in the bathroom is dingy.
I found a roach in the bathroom - and when I told them they refused to make any discount. For $250/night I thought that would not happen.
Nothing at all!
Terribly Noisy, awfully dirty, very high stairs, weird people live in. Avoid this place!
