(relatively) good price but JUST in comparison to other nyc hotels good location next to 14th street station
creepy atmosphere, dark, smelly and scary hallways shared bathrooms basically just an average hostel but for the price of a hotel (in europe one would pay 30 euros for this)
Location: close to lots of bars and stores and subway stations. Staff was very helpfull. Confort: The room has a good space for the luggage and it has a small kitchen, so we could buy some things to eat there.
Only for a couple days the shared bathroon was dirty and stinking. In the rest of our stay it was ok. In two days, the paid wifi didn't work well. The staff said they had a problem with that. The air conditioning was a little bit noisy, the door of the fridge has a tiny problem to close, so as the microwave. It seems that almost everything has a trick to work.
Small room at least mine, The noite u can ear inside The room but its new york and really centered hotel so
The location is very good because it is near subway station, Chelsea Market, apple store, Catholic Church, high line park, good resto bars etc... Hotel rate is very practical compared to other hotels in the nearby location. I like the room because there is a sofa, kitchen sink, refrigerator and coffee maker. It is like an apartment where you can stay for a long period of time. They have spacious backyard at the back where you can just sit and relax after a stressful or tiring day.
My room was on the ground floor that's why I hear the sound of police sirens, ambulance and people talking by the street. The main doors are not locked so I get paranoid that strangers may just come inside the building. So I see to it that my room was always double locked. They only offer bread and coffee for breakfast.
Location is 20 metres from a main underground stop, front desk staff are super helpful and friendly, back patio is a great outdoor space when the weather is good.
Its a budget hotel, so any problems I found negated by the price
Overall hotel condition. Its an old hotel, tiny room and had no escalator. In pictures it look comfortable and spacious while in reality it is something awful
the location at 8th Av. & 14th St. is great. If you get a room facing the back, it's absolutely quiet and great too. Facing the street--forget it unless you love traffic noise. The price is certainly right for NYC, plus you get a mini kitchen-- great! The futon couch was a real plus.
the room was cramped for 2 people, literally as wide as the bed is long (plus one foot to get around it). The furniture has dings and chips; lighting in the bathroom is dingy.
I found a roach in the bathroom - and when I told them they refused to make any discount. For $250/night I thought that would not happen.
Nothing at all!
Terribly Noisy, awfully dirty, very high stairs, weird people live in. Avoid this place!
more cable channels needed
the location and the room; breakfast outside; the daily paper;
no table in the room; poor breakfast: i.a. no hot water; only sweat cakes staff managed, but had no interest in guests; wifi was problematic
very small room, cockroaches, very noisy. Sleepless nights. terrible hotel. Why do they offer this hotel at all I wonder.
The location is excellent!!!. The price was good for what we got. The front desk people very helpful and friendly.
No elevators in a 5 floors building, The cleanliness wasn't great.
Friendly staff, good location.
It's basically a backpacker in the price range of a hotel.
Shared bathroom. Not very clean.
Rude staff, very dirty, rats in house, omg my first NYC experience was so astonished
The hotel has no elevators, no bell man to assist you with lugguage abd the bathroom in the room was a disgrace. Definately, needs a makeover.
- close to metro - luggage storage - rooms ok
- no elevator - wifi didnt work for us - shared bathrooms can get very busy at one moment- long waiting
Excellent location. Helpful staff especially the front desk guy.
The size of d room, no stove. The price was outrageous compared to d room size. No elevators at all n we were staying on d 3rd floor. They need an elevator.
Location was good - near the High Line pathway and the riverside walk and right by the metro for more distant locations. Helpful staff who obliged us by moving us to another room when we asked - and then found and returned our nightclothes which we forgot to remove from the bed. When we had moved rooms (to get away from the street noise at night) and come to terms with our dislikes, we enjoyed our stay. In recommending it to others, we would mention the dislikes.
Noisy air-conditioning units in both the rooms we used. No lift (and our second room was on the 4th floor). Continental breakfast consisted of bagels, croissants, pain au chocolate and similar, but nowhere inside to eat it - the "Visitor Lounge" had no room for tables and only two chairs by the two complimentary computers; fortunately the weather was warm and dry so we could sit at the tables in their pleasant courtyard garden, which we enjoyed sharing with the sparrows. Calling itself a hotel suggests that its facilities would have included some of these features.
The room and outside facility
No soap, no amenities, no coffee etc hallway smells bad.
Kitchen in the room, excellen location, friendly staff
No parkinglot, strange odor in the hallway
The room was not bad by itself, except that it hasn't been cleaned for decades. Location is not bad neither, with a subway station at few feet of distance, the only problem is that they are too close to the road and even at night you can hear every car passes (and in New York there a lot of cars at every hour, as is easy to think). In the street in the front of the hotel it is possible to have free wifi without paying the hight pay the hotel ask to use internet.
First of all: the room was filthy, with various stains of dirty everywhere. The sheets and the towels were dirty as the rooms, with undefined biological traces on them (we didn't use the towels, it would be disgusting). In the shared toilets we found cockroaches too. They said there was a continental breakfast. That wasn't a decent breakfast, just few pastries and bad coffee. The man from the reception said us to get up at seven AM because otherwise the pastries we would miss the pastries. Sometimes they just do not serve coffee without any reason and the staff is rude.
