6 Columbus - A Thompson Hotel    

Hotel is in a great location, right on the south corner of Central Park. Staff were friendly and accomodating. Great breakfast, served in a bento box (they have a sushi restaurant at the hotel!). Rooftop bar is very cool and has a chilled out atmosphere (not overpriced either).

Room was a standard and was quite small, but I think that is just the way it goes in NYC. It was small but well thought out, with underbed storage should you have been staying longer than a couple of nights. Bathroom was very nice, loved the blue files and the round mirror / light.

Room was comfortable and clean and although small the bathroom was nice. The location was excellent, ideal for shopping and sightseeing and very close to Central Park. Overall very good but maybe a little expensive.

The view from the room window was poor looking out onto a window from the next building.

rooms are quite small for the price. the room's doors are very heavy, and the locks make a terrible noise everytime they close, so there's a lot of noise during the night and early morning when people get back to their room

Decoration and amenities are excellent. Location is outstanding for Central Park.Good places to eat nearby.

Location - next to Central Park, and a nice new mall is across the street. Comfortable beds.

Small room. No complementary water. Room door shuts very hard making a loud and disrurbing noise in all hotel rooms. A long drive from JFK. No free Internet.

Bathroom was big and clean. Liked the shower. Comfortable bed and large tv. Nice size for NYC.

Lighting way too dim. Key card access elevators.

Fantastic location- you are in the buzz of midtown Manhattan. Staff were very friendly on check-in and check-out. Walking distance from some great hot spots and nightlife!

As a vegetarian, I felt the room service menu was extremely restricted

The room was miniscule with nothing but a bed, not even a chair.

The hotel staff were very helpful and my bathroom looked like it had just been renovated. Good water pressure etc. The bar downstairs had great staff, food and drink - fantastic Japanese food that was original and fresh. Best part of the hotel really. Nice when you're travelling on your own to have somewhere nice to go in the evening without the stress of 'going out' by yourself. Restaurants are often quite rude to solo diners and give them terrible tables - staff at this bar made everyone who came in feel welcome.

I hate paying extra for internet and thought $15 per day was a rip off. Surely, it should be standard equipment in every hotel by now? To top it off, the connection was really slow, so I ended up going next door to Starbucks - cheaper, faster and a cup of coffee to go with it. My only other complaint was the bed - it was old, hard and lumpy and should have been thrown out years ago. Not up to the mark for the price range.

The room was super clean, the bathroom floor was heated and though it was small it was incredibly comfortable. The bathrobes were a nice touch and I was grateful for an umbrella as it rained the whole day I was there.

No coffee available in lobby or rooms without having to call for slow rooms service.

We were very impressed by the hotel staff: super friendly and warm and ready to help.

The stand alone closet is placed unfortunately in front of the bathroom door (Rm 49). Awfully little light makes it down to a fourth floor window on the air shaft. Neither of these is a huge deal. We would stay at 6 Columbus again.

Everything except the internet service, actually no-service. Not good for business travelers.

Internet service, there wasn't. One of the staff members told me to use the Starbucks's WiFi...;/

Pretty much everything! Really nice place. AMAZING location. Clean, quite, friendly, designed. Love it! Will stay there again.

Nothing we did not like...

Great location, restaurant, cleanliness, products, bell staff was exceptional

the plumbing was terrible! Heat was mostly AC which had to be fixed twice and still left me freezing in the middle of the night with 2 blankets and a hat! The water was cold in the shower unless turned all the way to hot, and then barely warm. I tried to let management know, but they never called back, absolutely terrible treatment!

Polite,quick service. No hidden fees. Great room and service for the price. Central to all trains

No iPhone charger :(.... But they do have docking stations in the rooms for your IPod. And if you like the concierge can charge the phone in their office for you.

Service was impeccable and the location can't be beat. Rooms were clean and beds were comfortable.

Staff was great, location great.

This deluxe queen room was not deluxe. A basic dark, cave-like space. No view whatsoever. Unless you like looking at the back of other buildings with no view of the sky. The bathroom shower was a tiny tub/shower that you had to crawl in... Not at all as pictured in the images. Hallways were a poor attempt to mesh a turn of the century building into 60's modern. I was offered a king suite, but that was so vacant of luxury or character, it just left you feeling like you didn't want to be there. I like to feel like I am treating myself to a great place when I come to nyc. 6 Columbus didn't do it for me at all. I have stayed at the Smyth several times and it was excellent, another Thompson Hotel. I would not recommend this Hotel. There are so many other great places to stay in the city.

Excellent friendly check in staff. Bell boy (azeikel??)Gave a very warm friendly greeting without the usual fakeness. Rooms were small but big enough for a weekend and very clean.

Staff were excellent. Liked the overall size and the location. Great shower.

The location was excellent - one block away from Columbus Circle. The bar in the lobby level restaurant was intimate in size and had average priced drinks. The bed was extremely comfortable - we actually overslept after sleeping for 10 hours. The best hotel bed we've ever slept in anywhere. Loved the lighted mirror in the bathroom. When you looked in the mirror, it created a white circle reflected back around the irises in your eyes. Kind of spooky looking but definitely a fun effect.

Paying $399.00 plus all the taxes to stay for one night seemed a bit steep. But at least the hotel has the reputation of being "bed bug free," unlike many other hotels in nyc. Including hotels which are much more expensive per night!
