Hotel 71 was absolutely beautiful, clean and friendly from the moment we walked in! Our room was very spacious and we LOVED the bathroom!!! The tub was awesome!! I've highly rcommended Hotel 71 to a coworker that is planning a trip this summer. We had a hard time finding restaurants that weren't fast food or extremely expensive. We spent hours walking around, trying to find nice bar and grill type restaurants. We ended up eating at McDonald's and Subway...yuck and yuck:(

I loved the location. It was perfect! Close to the Magnificent Mile, close to restaurants. The restaurant within the hotel was excellent. We had breakfast every morning and we were more than pleased. Excellent coffee, lattes, superbly cooked omelettes, healthy choices, wonderful. Also had drinks, again great service with appetizers that were imaginatively created. I would highly recommend this hotel for its location, excellent cuisine and most importantly great staff. They were courteous, upbeat, and welcoming. We will definitely be back. Would like to see a space in the showers for shower gels, shampoos etc. For example one/two tiles could be removed and an insert for these items. Otherwise, spectacular!!

This hotel packs in a lot of bang for the buck. The location was fabulous; loved our views from spacious window, and it was an easy walk to many of Chicago's fine offerings, including the Art Institute, local cafes and restaurants, etc. Furthermore, it was very classy, the staff professional and friendly, the room spotless and fresh. I'll stay there again.

The front door and front desk staff were very helpful. The staff in the restaurant were rude, short in answers and uninterested in helping with requests. Had to request items multiple times. Seemed like they were in a hurry to leave and ushered guests out.

Our stay was fabulous. We were allowed to check in early (12:30pm) and the hotel graciously upgraded us from a King Sized Waterview Room to a HUGE Suite! The hotel is perfectly located, within walking distance of the L, shops, restaurants and many attractions. The ameneties are first class. The staff are all very friendly and helpful and not once did I see a huge lineup at the front desk. Quality and Class all around!

I liked the valet and the staff, they were friendly, and the interior decorating was very nice in the lobby. I was disappointed that when we arrived we were told that we were upgraded to a suite with a city view and the view was an alley with garbage everywhere, I understand you have no control, but you shouldnt tell people they were upgraded and put them in that room, I wouldnt say anything at all, Also, when we arrived to the room, it smelled bad, and the bars of soap were opened and used in the bathroom. I have never been to a hotel where the toiletries were opened and used when I arrived, normally they are sealed and brand new. The bed was very uncomfortable, and I am a bath person, and our room only had a shower. I felt like that room was meant for a single male who was traveling for business, and didnt care. I was here on a vacation with my husband and was upset that there was no bath. It was definitely a poor experience.

The location was perfect, it's very close to the Magnificent Mile, the river and Millennium Park. They're all walking distance from the hotel. My room was right by the elevator which was quit noisy at night. I would request a room far from the elevator.

The river view room was amazing. The 25th floor view of Chicago was truly breathtaking and we got it without even asking for it. We were kindly upgraded by the reception staff from a city view room. The 4 people room was very nicely decorated and big enough to fit any needs. We didn't really have anything to complain about. Prompt service, spotless, amazing location, a great experience.

I had booked a 'Deluxe' room with city view and got a good deal via booking.com. Based on the (very) positive reviews here I was at first a bit disappointed. There was nothing wrong with the room, in fact it is rather spacious, but in the end it was rather basic and maybe not as good as I had expected. I then asked for an upgrade and for a small additional fee changed my reservation to a 'Superior' room with river view - and this room was really very nice. It is much more modern than the 'Deluxe' room, the bathroom is amazing and overall its just more luxurious and definately worth the extra fee. My recommendation: they have 'superior' rooms that have bathtub and shower combined and some that have them apart. The rooms that have them apart are apparently nicer but there are also not so many of those. Furthermore, the gym is very good and modern, apparently it has been renovated recently. Some of the staff at the front desk is more helpful than others. At first they told me a room upgrade is generally not possible, then I asked someone else a bit later and all over sudden it was possible. Also, some of the staff at the main entrance does not seem very attentive. The attached bar/restaurant is okay, not amazing, but okay.
