Hidden away on the Lower East Side it gives walking access to China Town, Canal Street.. the Bowery and all those great old red tenement buildings with fire escapes on the front synonymous with New York City. The subway is very close by to get yourself up to Times Sq and Central Park. The hotel sits very close to the Manhattan Bridge so you can watch the traffic wizz by the window including the trains.. but its very quiet considering its so close... the double glazing works.. Everything is very clean including the long hall way to the elevator that takes you to reception. Bathrooms are clean and easy to move around and the beds very comfortable. For the price its exceedingly good value. I've stayed before and I'll certainly be going back again.... Ohh you can also leave your luggage for the day at $2 a bag...

The staff was very friendly and helpful. My room was comfortable, and all I really wanted it for was sleeping and a place to leave my bags, and that was fine. The lobby is on the second floor of the building. If you enter late at night, you are alone as you walk through a corridor and wait for the elevator. Seems a bit of a security issue, although nothing happened to me.

We stayed for one night after attending a wedding in East Village. The hotel is in Chinatown and we enjoyed walking around the area. Since the hotel is right next to the Manhattan Bridge as well as subways. We had some noise. But, it did not bother us enough to change our room. I used to get cheap Chinatown buses to go to Washington dc and Boston one block from the hotel. We felt like we were in China at this hotel-lots of great restaurants, bakeries, fish markets, etc. We loved the stay.

We were very comfortable and well placed for the areas we wanted to visit. The room was very clean and a newly-fitted bathroom was excellent. It was excellent value and we would certainly stay there again and recommend it to others.

Price Location near subWay First receptionist was unhelpful and refused to give password for wifi, Ethernet cord could also not be found so had to change rooms. Generally unfriendly service. Located next to subway line and walls thin so quite noisy at night at all hours Generally clean and comfortable

The hotel was very clean and nice, with polished granite floors in the entrance. The staff was welcoming and helpful. The beds were comfortable, with thick mattresses and clean-smelling sheets. The mattresses were protected by anti-bedbug cases. The bathroom was clean and spacious, with a hair dryer. We were happy to avail ourselves of the storage service, a welcome convenience. The hotel is located right next to an elevated subway track. Our room, 301, actually had a window overlooking the track. It was noisy. If you are a light sleeper, ask for a room on the opposite side of the hotel. Otherwise, it is a very quiet place in the heart of Chinatown.

Hotel 91 represents excellent value for money, and is around 20mins to central NY on the subway. We stayed for 4 nights and were pleased with the hotel overall! It works out at around $150 a night, which is good value for money, as the beds are very comfortable, the hotel staff are extremely welcoming and helpful. Bear in mind though that is excluding taxes, which are added to your bill. The lobby area on level 1 is lovely, with sofas, free tea/coffee and a flat screen TV. The rooms were clean, with satellite tv, the shower was lovely - there were 3 of us girls to a room, getting ready etc, and the water never ran cold! We booked two taxi's though the hotel and they arrived on time, and were impressed by the reliable service! Thanks again Hotel 91! :) The street it's located on is a bit smelly - this is down to the rubbish dumped on the sidewalk each night, so not very pleasant! Also, we were told by the hotel that Canal Street is the nearest subway, but pay attention to where you are, as after 2 days, we realised there are 4 subway stops for Canal Street, as it is such a long road and depends what letter tube you get! Just head to the East Broadway stop!

for a young couple it was a great value for money. it is located between chinatown and the financial district, so you'll always find easy transports anywhere you wanna go. it is actually not that far from broadway st, so it's a easy walking distance from almost everything. the only thing we did not appreciate was the lack of windows. the room was clean, no problems with anything else.

Spacious room, and spacious bathroom, in New York standard of course. Good value for city travelers. Location is convenient but not ideal -- in a Fujianese part of China Town. As travelers from China, we did not intend to stay in China Town, but since it was called Lower East, it did not occur to us that it was an extension of China Town when booked. Travelers from China who do not speak much English might find it convenient to stay in this area. Room was very warm. No window in our room. Since the hotel is a slice of the building, I'd say quite many rooms had no windows. Only Chinese shops in the neighbourhood, so if you feel like a beer or some snacks late in the night, you couldn't find a convenient store close by. The vending machine in the hotel had only soft drinks.

Our room was next to Manhattan bridge, but we found the sound of the trains running by relaxing. The room was clean, and what you could expect. The bathroom had a tub. The hotel is quite close to a subway that will take you to just about every tourist spot, or close to.

The rooms are reasonably spacious by NY standards, clean and tidy. There is a subway station in near-by proximity. Located right next to an above-ground subway line - trains make noise around the clock. Room doors are paper-thin - noise from outside is complimented with noise from inside. Uncomfortable bed mattresses, thin and hard pillows. No breakfast servrice. Inconsistent TV set operation (goes on and off). Unfiendly, arrogant and non-cooperative staff. They don't want to help you resolve your issues but they do charge you for temporary luggage storage!!! Think twice and then rethink again befor you book a room in Hotel 91.

I was looking for a cheap nyc hotel for one night and found this one for $76. I was floored by the price. Its in chinatown so the location isn't the best but, for the money, it couldn't be beat. Bed was comfortable, room was clean, had everything we needed. Subways were an easy 4 block walk. $23 cab ride from LaGuardia. Very happy with my stay.

Room was basic but very clean. You've got to pay a couple of dollars per piece if you want to leave your luggage for a couple of hours at the hotel after check out.... Also the neighborhood is a bit remote from the rest of Manhattan. The hotel is located next to the Manhattan bridge which makes it a bit noisy (although it is ok as long as you keep the windows shut)

Even though it was located in Chinatown, it was extremely clean and safe feeling. Walking in the front door and down the hallway it felt like going through a hidden passage, you wouldn't expect the building to be so nice and clean given the buildings surrounding it. Next to the Manhattan bridge but I actually found the noise from the bridge and subway trains to be soothing kind of like white noise. The room was extremely clean and comfortable, a good size for Manhattan. They were nice enough to let us check in early because our room was ready, which after a 10 hr overnight bus ride was much appreciated. When checking out I Had to ask the hotel staff for a printout and summary of charges also they weren't to offering of information about getting a cab or getting to the Airport. That would have been appreciated. The last night it was quite noisy with fellow guests being up late and making a lot of noise, so in peak periods it can be quite busy.

The staff were very helpful and friendly. The room was clean and serviced our needs Previous comments said it was noisy as you are near Manhatten bridge,I can say that we didn't notice the notice. The hotel served us as a good base to travel around and the room was clean. I would stay there again.

“The service was wonderful from the moment we walked in the door. Every question was answered with a smile and every request was responded to very promptly! The location is within walking distance of Greenwich Village, China Town, Wall street, Southside Seaport, 9/11 Memorial and the south ferry service. The subway entrance is across the street. There were great restaurants in the area too. We cut our motel bill in half and had a wonderful experience. This is a place I will definitely recommend to anyone looking for a great place to stay! ” William, Wauwatosa |
