Score from 165 reviews Very good
The sound of the trains going through the Manhattan bridge.
The bed was one of the most comfortable beds I have ever slept in a hotel.
Wifi is really weak and spotty in the rooms.
Convienient location, walking distance to the subway, china town and little Italy. Room was as pictured, comfortable and clean, working tv with cable, hot water in the bathrooms and the staff were helpful.
Slow and unreliable wi-fi connection. Very close to train tracks, which some people might not like (didn't bother us).
Friendly, very helpful staff. Spotless, comfortable rooms with great maid service. Good location in Chinatown, with LES and East Village only streets away, and a subway station close by. Excellent value for money.
the trains where very noisy at night, especially because its 24hours
Value for money in NYC
Location is good, hotel is clean, train tracks noise is a turned off
The only problem was the wifi connection. It didn't work most of the time and when it did, it was very slow.
The overall stay was fantastic and well worth the money!
Lot of noice from the train, but put your eardrops in your ears and it is no problem.
Very nice and clean hotel in ChinaTown.
Subway close to the room makes the place very noisy. Although the hotel is in Manhattan, Chinatown is not the best place to stay in New York (noisy, dirty). Expensive for the place. Breakfast not included.
Close to the subway. Nice personnel. Good wifi.
The Wi-Fi may as well not exist as my connection from my room was comically slow. Someone had clearly been smoking in the room as the smell was very noticeable.
Staff were very helpful. The first room they had put me in was directly opposite the Manhattan bridge, which despite other reviews playing this down, it was too loud for myself who just needed a good nights sleep. The staff switched me to another room after requesting so which was much better.
the location is nice and the bathroom is clean.
no window in room, quetly noisy near room
Rooms were claer and fine
Location in Chinatown is awful. The smell of fish is everywhere. Even our towels smelt of fish. Our room was right next to the subway and was very loud. Bathroom floors were gross. I question how well they clean rooms after seeing housekeeping only carrying a bucket filled with a couple cleaning supplies. I would rather pay a couple hundred dollars more to stay somewhere out of Chinatown.
The price was decent. They will store your bags after check out. The bed was comfy.
The hotel it is located in Chinatown and some streets are very dirty.
Confortable beds and the room was always clean. Localization near subway station. Coffee and tea free.
note that the hotel is directly beside a very loud train station which runs all day and night. Our first room was far to loud so we got them staff to switch us up to the top floor, where it was much more bearable. I dread the thought of having to stay in the first room
Very near Brooklyn and Manhattan bridges, Subway station is 2 min walk away.
Good location and nice room for the price.
Too far away from anything of importance
The hotel was clean and good for what we wanted
nothing really, sometimes the internet was not working on our floor level and we had to log into the lower floors. This wasn't a big problem though and would not deter us from returning as it was a nice place.
Great location, Safe area and nice people. Would go back in a heartbeat.
Bed, wifi, cleanliness
Clean. Friendly. Adiquate
WIFI not good enough
The price of the room
I like everything in this hotel.
The clean factor us most important-very good. The friendless of the guys on the the desk was great.
No wardrobe just a bar to hang clothes on . But we made do, take some hangers as we had 4 between us
There was lots of space and a great view. There were also tea and coffee making facilities on 2nd floor and within easy distance of the subway .
We really like bagels and stuff for breakfast, (but there aren't really places like that in Chinatown), so we just decided to just always have breakfast in the area/neighborhood we were going to explore that day. Which maybe is even nicer! But you just have to wait a little longer until you're having breakfast.
We had a room with two queen size beds, one for each of us; really great!! Bed was super comfortable and they cleaned our room every day, perfect! They have a tea dispenser on the 2nd floor.. So everytime we got back at the hotel, we first stopped at the 2nd floor to get a cup of tea and then went up to the room. Hotel 91 felt like our home after a long day of walking around the city. There are two close metro stops: Grand street (7min walk) and East Broadway (5min walk). Oh and make sure you ask the reception for a pick up to bring you to the airport (45 excl tip) instead of taking a taxi (70).
try and get a room at the front,if the train noise will bother you
i stayed twice at hotel91 in January 2015,i saw the price online, and was a bit wary of the location, when i arrived i the desk man was quick to check me in,no fuss at all,the hotel is like an apartment block,my room/s were great warm, clean bathrooms, great wifi ,huge tvs, daily maid service, ice machine down the hall, the reception is on the 2nd floor the 1st floor is a bit of a mystery, maybe it had stores one time, maybe sandy flooded it,but it looks really grand, buddahs, red a white and gold, there were 3 doors to it 1 closed 2 open, yet a few times i did pass people who i dont think were staying in the hotel, and i may have seen a homeless man trying to sleep in there one night(it was -13/19f outside) the hotel is right next to the Manhattan bridge,i knew this and was waiting for the noise, yes you do hear the trains and see traffic(and they see you) the noise level drops 8-10pm im a heavy sleeper so didnt find it a problem, the view from my window was incredible, the world trade centre and lower manhattan,it was great to open the curtains each day to see that, the area is just into chinatown,on east broadway by seward park, and two bridges.dont be daunted by the area,i dont know much about chinese culture,i loved it,loys of food, and mad supermarkets, under the bridge to get lost in,this IS real New York, and yeah it may smell a bit,and the odd rat plays chicken on the sidewalk, dont be put off,the lower east side is very close, for clubs bars eats, and a hop on the "F" train can take you uptown,or walk over the bridge to Brooklyn, there is a bar down east broadway called 169 bar charles hanson, great seafood lively and 40ozs of MALT LIQUOR! i really enjoyed hotel91,and the area,i will recomend to my peoples and their peoples,id go back in a minute Yo!
