This is an old-style, relatively well-priced hotel which I chose for a one-night stay while working at Harvard. It is a short walk to Harvard Yard and just a bit further (still walking distance) from the Metro, shops, etc. Facilities are fairly basic, but clean and reasonable. I had a hall room so got a bit of noise with people coming and going but it was completely quiet at night. Wifi worked fine. Breakfast was an uninspiring do-it-yourself but at least it was available. Staff did an adequate job, but its not a warm b and b experience, if that's what you're looking for.
Nothing. It was fine for an overnight stay.
Great location 5 minutes walk from Harvard Square 11am check out instead of the usual 10am
Who vacuums at 7am!!! And the breakfast was totally gone by the time I went down at 9:30am
Very clean! Staff was very nice. Didn't eat breakfast so can't comment.
The bed was uncomfortable, the bathroom, although clean, was a hazard due to space. Difficult to regulate temperature. No cell phone service in the room.
Nice staff helped me find a quieter room in the back.
Terrible pillow and bed. Had a bad sleep.
Parking saved us - not sure what happens if you arrive late though, it looked awfully tight.
The doors creak. A small thing, but when you are trying to be quiet it's awfully loud. A little oil, please.
Furniture looked like it was from a charity shop, poor quality breakfast, hard cooked eggs unrefridgerated, curtains in room rough cut at bottom not hemmed, staff did not acknowledge or talk to you, abrupt check in, not at all friendly, poor value for money.
This place was very pleasant surprise. It is perfectly situated among the various Harvard graduate schools. The room was clean and friendly. The staff was helpful and courteous. It is the perfect alternative to the pricey hotels in lower Harvard Square.
Quiet location near to Harvard Main Square. Good sleep in room at the back of the Inn on the ground floor. The Breakfast was quite good considering that hotels in the US don't often provide any breakfast.
Low quality furniture, a bit above a hostel. Carpets very old, steep stairs which luckily we didn't have to use except to go to the dinning room. Breakfast was late on our second morning but the staff didn't bother to apologise. On the whole the staff didn't see the need to communicate above the minimum. They haven't quite taken up American ways yet!
clean - friendly staff
overpriced, small rooms, poor breakfast value
Breakfast; Wi fi; Very spacious room; Clean and nice bathroom
Convenient location, in the middle of MIT & Harvard. 10 minutes walk to the Harvard Square where the metro station is located.
No elevators, and breakfast is just okay. But both are minor issues.
My first impression of the inn was that although you could tell it was a little old, it was obvious that it was well taken care of. Everything was very clean and neat, and it definitely has a sort of charm to it. The room is a little small, but again it was very clean and we werent planning to stay in the room very much anyways. My absolute favorite part is the free breakfast downstairs each morning. It's by no means anything fancy but the downstairs area is super cute, quiet, and relaxing, and I actually loved the pastries they had each day. Perfect way to start a busy day. Since the purpose of our trip was to visit Boston itself (not Cambridge so much),I was worried that it would be a pain getting into the city each day. It was actually super convenient, and the neighborhood was so cute it convinced us to do some more exploring in the area. Last but not least, the staff was extremely attentive and kind. Definitely lived up to the "friendly" title. I do not lower my ratings if something small goes wrong because thigs can go wrong anywhere - even 5 star hotels. What makes the difference is how the staff handles it. When we arrived our tv was not working, and the staff was very quick apologize and send someone up to replace the tv right away. They were always attentive to our needs, and because it is so small, you feel like you know them by the time you leave. For anyone who wants convenient access to downtown boston without spending a ton of money, I recommend this place.
The lady is not very friendly and not patient. The room and bathroom are extremely tiny.
Very well located, easy access to the T through harvard yard. The room was nice, very clean, very quiet with a small but functional bathroom. Friendly and helpful staff.
The included breakfast is ok, but could be better with more options.
The room was very small for $230 (including tax).
it's a cramped, old house, and while it's been neatly renovated and everything worked well enough, the price was too high. The breakfast foods were second-rate, gummy croissants, etc.
Very close to Harvard Square and Inman Square. Lots of restaurants and cafes within walking distance. Coffee and tea available 24/7.
Bed was lumpy. Wifi was a little spotty. Water pressure in shower was low. Breakfast was lackluster. More than I wanted to pay, but I realize that Cambridge is expensive and it was a weekend in September.
24 hours coffee and tea, friendly staff
breakfast, very bland.. carpets a bit old..
Good location for visiting the university. Available parking. Cleanliness.
Poor breakfast - better to eat out.
they had free parking if there are spaces available when you arrive
The building can't be up to code. Stairs are narrow and steep and no elevator. Seems run down with carpet, etc. A lot of sirens going by.
Very close proximity to Harvard Square. Staff are helpful. Free parking. Room is bright and clean. Water, cofee and tea provided throughout the day.
My room was small for 2 persons. The toilet is small and the ventilator became extremely loud. As the room was facing the road, aircon has to be turned on to avoid traffic noise. Would appreciate more variety during breakfast as we stayed several days.
Vastly over-priced and poor facilities (shower head very poor, tv did not have signal, bathroom floor tiles loose) Air conditioning was inefficient and very noisy; poor soundproofing so whole place was noisy; staff were perfunctory at best as opposed to willingly helpful. But it's got a captive audience in an over-priced town for accommodation. But a B&B in Europe of this standard would be one star quality and one eight of the cost
Excellent Cambridge location, Room was clean and neat. Staff was friendly. Selection of food was adequate for a self serve breakfast. Coffee was too strong.
Our room was third floor, walkup. The bathroom was the smallest I've experienced, designed for small people. My husband and I are tall, fortunately reasonably slender folks over the age of 65. It was a challenge to be seated on the toilet. The air conditioner was insufficient to cool our room on a very hot Sept night.
People were extremely warm and helpful. Treated us like family
Cute, clean, comfortable. Very friendly and helpful staff. Convenient location and quiet stay. Competitive price but they couldn't get away with the price in other neighborhoods or cities.
