Bill was fantastic and his tips on mule canyon indian ruins was excellent.
Kids would absolutely love this place. Staff was exceptionally friendly and helpful. They are happy to help you start a campfire in front of your cabin or bring you anything that you need. The location is beautiful and the cabins are situated so that you feel that you are living in the woods. Deer and bunnies are within sight. Much of the power is solar. The lighting safely emulates 19th century.
quiet rustic location
poor lighting in cabin lack of comfortable chairs
Very welcoming host, who provided wood for our fire pit, and tea first thing in the morning. A log cabin is a unique experience. If you are looking for comfort, and good facilities then come here.
There was nothing about this experience that we did not like.
The sky ! Crisp clear and so dark that you see all the nebulae one does never see in western countries because of artificial light. The nature also. One has the impression to be in contact with it.
The bathroom was outside the cabin, but this was not a big deal for us. It was clean and comfortable.
Very warm welcome and great hospitality! Thanks Bill!!
What a lovely way to spend a few days. We all loved the two nights that we have just spent at the cabins (including our 13 year old daughter). The setting is just perfect and the cabins really great. We had a fire both nights which was set up by Bill the owner and on the second night took advantage of his cooking which gain was lovely. The cabins are only a short drive to the Bridges National Park and are at the start of the Pine Forrest - both lovely to visit. We would definitely go back and recommend to anyone to stay here for a lovely experience.
Fabulous welcome by bill the owner, couldn't do enough even let our horse mad daughter ride his horse! Beautiful setting full of wild life including deer, humming birds! Would love to go back! Highly recommended
Firepit peace and quiet
This is a welcome haven of peace and greenery after driving in the desert. Great hospitality (and dinner if you order ahead!) from Bill who is also a fount of knowledge on local history. The evening and morning visits by wild turkey, rabbit and deer make this a bucolic paradise!
It was great! After spending a night in Abajo Haven I can easily call this place 'haven'. It is excellent located and you feel like being outside of your regular life. Bill (the householder) is very helpful and you have a feeling that you are the most important guest in Abajo Cabins!
Bill was great. Took us on a wonderful hike. The cabin was charming.
This was a great break from hotels and motels on a long road trip. High quality cabin and grounds. The proprietor was warm and very helpful.
Bathroom disconnected from the cabin. Dirt road access.
The country atmosphere
The property was not what I expected, definitely, would not be warm enough with kerosene heater, in the cooler months
It is a well-built and cozy cabin in the mountain, a good place for camping and hiking. I really liked the places and roads the host recommanded around the place. The host was very friendly and gave good information about our trip.
A restroom is seperated from the cabin, so we got cold when we wanted to go to restroom in the middle of night. No wifi connection.
The cabin has only beds in it and no other facilities. The host was very friendly and accommodating.
Booking didn't mention that the bathroom was 30m down the path and it froze the night we were there!!!! The outside light didn't work so it was hard to get to the car. The inside light was very dim and had a yellow lense which made ready difficult to read. It was advertised with a fireplace [romantic not] as the fireplace was outside and 27F !!! There was no view from our balcony as advertised.
Access to wildlife and outdoors. Interesting discussions with our host who is knowledgeable about artifacts and history of people who have lived in this area for thousands of years.
We enjoyed the peace and quiet and the wonderful views. We also ate the barbecue dinner and it was excellent. The owner Bill had a lot of suggestions as to where to go. We were able to see 13 deer go right by the front of our cabin. We also enjoyed coffee the next morning. We would definitely stay there again.
we were looking for a nice quei place in the nature and we found this little piece of paradise. The cabin was great. Very cosy and clean. Our host Bill was the most amable host one can wish. Always ready to make sure your stay is the most pleasant one. We loved our stay and we definitely would love to come back.
Bill, the owner and manager, was very helpful and sociable. The cabin was good sized, clean and adequate for three adults.
We were a bit taken aback by the fact that the toilet/shower facilities were in a separate building - not great for those of us of advanced age. I read the description in the Abajo Haven web page and will let the reader make his/her own judgement: "Your PRIVATE restroom cabin (with your group) has all the conveniences of home, including hot showers...".
Abajo haven was quite an adventure, it is in the middle of nowhere with basic ameneties, but we had a great great time! I particularly remember the camp fire under a starry sky.
It was cold!
Very, very friendly owner! :-) Placed in pure nature out of village. Nice wooden cottage. We fully recomend to order dinner - it was our one from the best in US! Coffee to berakfast incl. Perfect service!!!
wc and bath situated in extra cottage No breakfast incl. Little bit expensive.
Peaceful ranch location; Friendly owner/manager; Outdoor fire and cooking facilities; early morning coffee delivery
Outdoor bathroom Cramped cabin
Love this place! Bill our host was brilliant, nothing was too much trouble from bringing us wine glasses for our home bought sundowner to our complimentary hike. Just fab! Remember this place is 10 miles from town though but do enjoy Bills dinner by your own camp fire and stars, magical place
This cottage was an absolute little gem in the woods with its own camp fire and a cute separate (very clean) water closet/shower room only a stones throw from the cottage. It was "Glamping" in style (very comfy beds) with an absolute stunning view of the northern sky. Bill was very attentive and welcoming and ensured we had everything that we needed, including a quick WiFi update to our F&F & Even coffee & juice first thing. We had a very reasonably priced bbq dinner brought out to us and we sat by the fire as sunset arrived. Even saw a deer. A gorgeous li'l hideaway/escape/retreat perfect for summer day trips hiking etc or for getting away from bustling city life.
nothing. Loved everything. But Just fyi; remember this is essentially 'camping out' so don't expect to have amenities like fridges/WiFi/In room sinks/toilets as this is not that sort of place. It's about being unplugged & relaxing with nature.
