“ Lovely and Cozy! Very friendly super helpful staff. Has carpet in rooms (unlike other places of similar price) and the renovations in fact are DONE! I had no issues at all with noisy renovations or anything of the sort unlike past reviews. It's pretty nice. ”

The T.V. Everything! Angelica at the front desk on Friday 4/12 around nine pm was more than rude...unbelievably disrespectful. Upon entering room 510 I noticed the white comforter has stains. My husband went to the rest room and found evidence of someone going #2 and did not flush, the towels in the bathroom were dirty as well. I immediately went back downstairs to inform Angelica and she responed to me as if I was lying to her. I told her we took a picture of the bathroom to show her, showed her and she wanted to see the room for herself. Proceeded back to the fifth floor and when she entered the room she asked that we stay outside and responded by saying she didnt see what my problem was. This rubbed my husband and I the wrong way. She was already rude from the moment we walked through the door. She debated with us about the room and I asked for another room bottom line. She made us take our luggage back downstairs, short story, to put us in room 511 where the toilet seat was broken and still had dirty towels. Since we were tired from a long drive and not able to find another hotel at that moment we stayed as very unhappy customers! I was so disappointed in the service I would never stay at any of these establishments again and will be sure others know of my experience.

poor facility, open holes at the bath room walls, towel rack loose, mirror not clean; a table in the room but no chair for it and no space to use it with the old armchair which was standing at the beginnign of the room - looks like just some furniture standing in a room; no extra lights even not 1 at the bed. / no option to get a coffee or anything in the evening at arrival - only in the morning - but even breakfast was really poor.

the location near the Civic Center BART and MUNI station was excellent. The breakfast was good. Staff were pleasant and helpful. Room was very clean and in good shape. Elevator was comically antique and probably dangerous. No microwave or refrigerator in the room. Room heat was very noisy. Wifi was turned off about midnight. (Why?) No phone in room, so you can't call the desk, but have to get dressed and use the creepy elevator. No toilet paper holder--Jesus Christ, people, this is the 21st century--at $60 a night, you can afford to put a toilet paper holder in the room! (At least there WAS toilet paper)

This place is a 90 year old hotel and it wears it well. It's elevator is a clicketly-clack apparatus with a scissor gate-that you have to hold the floor number for a couple of seconds to roll- did I feel safe using it? Yes. Did I think it added to the ambiance? Absolutely. The hotel obviously has had infrastructure, safety and comfort improvements installed- which goes a long way telegraphing, to me at least, the integrity of the management and their attitude towards pleasing their clientele. I've stayed in other hotels in SF- my daughter, who stayed with me on this visit, had previously stayed at the Hilton- and this place smokes them all for bang for the buck. I would recommend this hotel (as would my daughter, Ashley) to friends, family or anyone else that would consider a visit to SF. My daughter is manager and part owner of a magazine primarily concerned with and located in SoCal (Ashley@localemagazine.com) It could prove to be a positive link for you and for those in SoCal looking for cost effective, secure and "accommodating" Accommodations in SF . The Name: It (Americas best....) sounds like someone that's somewhat unfamiliar with vernacular English to come up with a comfortable and reassuring name. Do come up with a blanket or brand icon- I believe the original name for the Hotel we stayed in SF was Abigail- a bit dated of a name, but still classy. Let them retain their original name (or an an appropriate newlander name ) and let them flourish under your umbrella icon that assures customer satisfaction.

Room stay was pleasant.. No complaint.. Lucky for the free parking we got on weekends, otherwise, its a bit expensive for the valet / parking. Heater is old model and may burn you if you by mistake touch or roll over while sleeping.. Dangerous too.. Need to switch off the heater before went to bed, since it is very close (touches the bed sometimes).

Was surprised with the "old skool" interior, hotel is under construction but didn't have any problems like early drilling etc. Nice simple fresh room. Good internet connection. Nice old elevator. Tv system wasn't working, old tv with 1 channel. Further on in the streets road was under construction with lot's of noise early in the morning, but doubt it will be year round.

good location, close to the market street and main shopping area. City view is nice, stuff is very friendly and welcoming. Internet connection was not always working properly, 50% of the time of my 3-day stay it was hardly working or not working at all. Expect to see lots of homeless people around the area, nothing dangerous about it, just that it's plent yof them in this area
