Desk staff are a bit curt, wash basis in the room area is inconvenient and very very loud. Overall bed size is quite small for 2 people. We wanted to extend our stay and were quoted 360++ at the desk which was an overkill considering it was not even peak season. Second stay but not coming back any more!
lobby area. this was my second stay here and the last time I was upgraded to a bigger room as there was a huge dog painted on the wall which was scary. This time we got a much smaller room with with a huge insect painted on the wall...not fun.
No place to rest! All they long the lobby is a night club vibe - loud, crowded, dark. I understand its THE THING of the hotel, but that was unpleasant. If you want to have a quite moment in the morning or after a long day, it's not your place.
Great location, clean, well designed, good coffee, nice places to dine (but expensive).
There is a kettle in the room but no milk.
The lobby area is cool, great location and staff really helpful & friendly. If you want a relaxed, hip vibe this is the place for you. There's even a record player & guitar in the room!
This isn't the hotel's fault but the stories of NYC being loud are true, bring earplugs no matter how high up you are!
All ACE hotels cater for the creative. You get all the perks and comforts of staying in an upmarket hotel but with a cooler more chilled vibe. Stayed at the ACE in Palm Springs and London and it is always a wonderful experience!
We stayed in a small bunk bed room. The springs on the beds were covered with wood boards so beds were very stiff. Room was very hot in spite our setting the temp at lowest setting. Had to open window to make it bearable which brought in a lot of street noise. Lobby was always over crowded and it was impossible to find a seat in spite of abundant number of sofas and chairs. People seamed to camp out there and never leave. Always a long line to stump town coffee. Had to go elsewhere when I had to grab a quick cup on the go.
The atmosphere was very young and hip. Jazz playing in lobby. Check in desk was very friendly.
The room I had on the first night was VERY small ('Mini') and had a window out onto the street, which was quite noisy. My second room was a 'Small' and was much larger, for not a whole lot more cash. If there's more than one of you, definitely upgrade to Small or above.
Loved the buzzy lobby bar, the free no-hassle wifi throughout the hotel, the extremely comfy beds, the staff who were friendly and helpful at all times. Food & drinks were great. The Breslin and John Dory restaurants also both destinations in and of themselves.
Sehr lebendiges, cooles , Hotel. The place to be! In der Lobby immer was los, coole Musik, freundliches, unkonvetionelles Personal.
Staff was great! Good location. Room was comfortable and all I needed.
Everything you need in vicinity (Stumptown, cute gift shoppes, the BEST restaurants ... Breslin is amazing).
Dog barking directly across the hall. Owner put a note on the door saying he would be back later; and only then the dog would stop barking. ??!! Techno music in lobby and the plugged-in crowd occupying every possible seating opportunity was overwhelming.
Convenience to Penn Station Hip decorative accents, loved the guitar Oyster bar
Did not like varied rates for rooms based on day of week. Use one price for rooms.
The hotel bar is fantastic. Great place to come back to and hang out, always buzzing
From being able to see the Empire State building right out my window, to having first dibs as a guest in the hotel on seating in the very busy cool lobby when it is near impossible to get one.And having great restaurants in the hotel so no need to leave.
Everything is so cool!!
This did not bother me, but be aware that LOTS of people frequent the bar/lounge in the lobby. If you are looking to do light reading or quiet time in the lobby, you won't find it. I enjoyed this aspect, but if you aren't prepared it can be a shock.
The bar and restaurant facilities in the lobby were awesome, and gave the place a very unique feel. Having a party in the lobby almost every night was really cool. A great place for younger visitors of New York looking for in-building night life.
If you can, book the suite; you will have the time of your life!!!
Couldn't tune the guitar in my room - what a waste!
Fast broadband, undisturbed sleep, good desk, great coffee, love reception area and The Breslin
the price of the bar in the lobby
The radiator was broken in my room and it was blasting out very hot air so I couldn't stay in there.. But the reception very quickly moved me to a new room
Bed was very comfortable, room wa quiet. Amazing vibe in the lobby and great restaurant
Design sometimes trumps functionality: awkward bar fridge which takes up too much space in room, no full-length mirror ( just the tiny bathroom mirror). More lighting options in room would be nice.
Very friendly, helpful staff.
The staff at this hotel is really great, they are very knowledgable and are prompt to get you anything you need. The room service is awesome! The room decor is comfortable and cozy
No window blind in the bathroom (just frosted glass) hence light would come in the morning. Too much noise in the nightfrom sirens, garbage trucks etc but I guess this is NYC for you!
Great Decor Good WiFi Central Location
*dark *uncomfortable *staff *not very clean
