nice and friendly staff and good atmosphere at the lobby It looks like you would be in the 20's and in fact, the comfort was from the 20's. The cold air from outside entered in the room through the window even if they tried to stop it with a sand bag, but the temperature in the room was not comfortable. The hot water in the shower was not hot enough.

The location and the old but hip interior. The TVs were a little small.

I loved the free upgrade to room 400! The staff are super cool, the other visitors are cool, coffee and restaurant rocked. Vinyl in my room was awesome. Also, my trip was a combo of business the first 2 days, then leisure the last two. I prefer this hotel for both. Internet is sketchy and slow. Rain. Not your fault.

All super easy, from reservations, to check-in, etc. Super clean, and I was surprised at HOW QUIET the rooms were in the back of the building - great! Parking down the street was a very slight hassle - not bad, but it wasn't raining either. T-shirt - the Jazz is Freedom one is so awesome, but $35? Really? Those blanks aren't that expendy. I do appreciate that at least they aren't simply advertising for the hotel (right? no Ace marking?) Makes it more art-tee and therefore less of an issue money-wise. Therefore that was a rant for sort of nothing, I guess.

Really love the atmosphere and the staff. Also great having Stumptown Coffee and Clyde Common in the same building. Will definitely stay there again. The proximity to some restaurants I was interested in going to.

Looked great. $10 breakfast was excellent, and the gent serving it was very nice. Bathroom products excellent. Bed was comfortable. Property was swank. Room was cold, even with heat running full blast. "View of the pearl district" was a view of the fire escape and not much else.

The open room concept mostly the shower being beside the bed. The guys at the front desk were very helpful when we needed to print out our buss tickets. Also they helped us out big time by storing our luggage after checkout time so that we could walk around and enjoy this amazing city before we had to head back to BC. Thanks for the great service The outlet for my lap top was 8 feet from the desk. It would have been much nicer for my laptop cord to of had some slack.

Great staff, location, restaurant, Stumptown Room was uncomfortable...huge pillows gave me a stiff neck. I hated the claw tub shower, it took forever to warm up. Heat wasn't sufficient, I spent the entire weekend freezing. The sink in the main room was a pain, no garbage in the bathroom. Layout was unpractical and bizarre.

The "cool hipster vibe" The music playing in the lobby; the seating area in the lobby. The rooms are very cool and when you're on a business trip (as I usually am) it's nice to stay somewhere that is not the "run of the mill" chain hotel. The shower was lovely and the bath products were exceptional. A very nice touch! I like the sheets/bedding on the beds, but the bed itself was not comfortable at all. I felt like I was camping in that sense.

The decor is great. The staff was friendly. It was horrible. My room was located on the second floor, on the same floor where breakfast is served - and rifght across the hall. I was woken up by the vacuum cleaner at 5:30, and one hour later the construction across the street started. No small construction job, there were dump trucks, Caterpillars, beep-beep-beeping of things backing up and the loud sound of cement pieces and general rubble being dropped into metal dumpsters. I am a heavy sleeper - people joke I can sleep through anything. This ruined - yes, ruined - my trip and I was comepletely exhausted the next day for work and later, my 3 hour drive north. I will never stay there again.

Love the vibe at the Ace - very chill and funky. Of course, great coffee in the lobby (Stuptown). Very interesting design in rooms. Really feels like a boarding house more than a hotel. Facilities are a little lacking. Specifically for a business traveler, having no fitness room and no partnership with a nearby gym is a big drawback. Website could add a bit more about where to park, whether or not there is room service, gym, etc.

It is a slick boutique hotel. For the price I paid, over $200, for 1 night, I should have had a bathtub.

The $10 Continental Breakfast is the best we ever had. The staff (apart from the friendly blonde guy at the front) are just painfully cool. Whenever you ask for something you almost feel like you have to apologise because you're stopping them reading Camus in the original French. Hipsters and service culture have an unhappy marriage.

The fact the most of the furniture and gear was second-hand. I also loved the overall aesthetics. The bathtub was even. It would move as I was in the shower. I also thought the matress was a bit hard.

I love the location and restaurant choices nearby and in the hotel were tremendous. I stay at Starwood (Westin, Sheraton etc) all of the time for business travel and it was refreshing to stay somewhere fun and quaint. The decor in the room and room layout was very hip and "Portland Chic." The Malin and Goetz body care/shampoo was amazing and a nice touch.

Not much except my teenagers liked their room and stereo. Grungy lobby Very Noisy Very expensive for what you get Other guests were inconsiderate and noisy Breakfast room was cramped. And limited options. Felt like a 1940s boarding house rather than a hip hotel charging nearly $200 a night.

Interesting, design hotel. Rooms are decorated with old vintage items. Rooms follow an American tradition, two large beds, I don't think it's necessary or convenient. Clean, good Internet. Location very good, and there is an excelent bar in the hotel, but it's very noisy since people there are always excited. Good breakfast. For US$200, it's overpriced; I would come back in future trips to Portland, but not at this price.

We liked the location and the free-bike rentals. We felt that there was a disconnect between the price we paid and the amenities you receive. We didn't feel like the bed was comfortable and the design of the rooms is a little inconvenient with the sink being behind the head of the bed and the bathroom door not being fully attached. I understand it's part of the design concept but when someone gets up in the middle of the night it's very loud. We were disappointed as well that there was a fee for parking. Any hotels we have stayed at have their own lot that is complimentary for the guests. People coming from outside of Portland are obviously driving and when they are already spending the money on the hotel, it stings to have to pay for parking as an additional expense.

Overpriced for the quality of decor and facilities, location is the key reason why I would stay here... Overall facilities of the hotel were very poor with completely inflexible breakfast options at the hotel... Room was cold and bathroom design slightly inconvenient and I found dangerous thanks to an rather high old-fashioned bathtub with basically no rail to hold on to getting in/out!!!
