hipster style, youthful, good location in Belltown & close to downtown, good Stumptown coffee for free during breakfast
some street noise and music from downstairs bar (bring earplugs if you are a light sleeper), traffic and lack of street parking close by during the day, only carbs (waffle, bread, cereal) available for free breakfast
Second time at the Ace in Seattle. Great location, nice, clean and comfortable.
The staff were friendly who checked us in and out, and the cleaning staff. Just experienced what I percieved to be indifference by the 2 other staff who I brought the noise issue to. Neither offered to come to the room to listen. StumpTown coffee was nice in the morning.
I requested the quiet room, but after a long day of travel and sight seeing I felt like a prisoner having to listen to neighbouring business' music full on for 3 hours; it made the floor vibrate. After an hour in the room the music got even louder. I was listening to the tv at the same volume the music was coming in. At first the staff suggested it was a car?? Later, I was asked if I wanted to call the business?? I offered to leave to go to another hotel but was advised I would be charged for the room. I had a poor experience at the Ace hotel in nyc, but wanted to support their business so tried again... No more Ace hotel for me. And I can not recommend if you want to be able to relax a bit and sleep. I regret not paying an additional $40 for a different hotel. Oh well...
The location is good that you can walk to famous place like Farmer Market. Starbucks Original. etc by feet. The staff is so nice and helpful. Room is modern and bed is easy to sleep.
Share with shower.
individual design of rooms, no typical american carpet floor, sights in walking distance, bathrobes in rooms, clean rooms and clean shared washrooms
at night: noisy surrounding (even when windows closed), no parking/parking expensive
Hotel is looking a bit worn but I understand that they will be doing some renovations.
We loved the location. Near to Chihuly at the Space Needle. Which highlights the Five Point cafe/bar. A must for all adventurous travelers! Walking distance to Pikes Market ans the fancy upscale shops-if that's your thing. The staff is exfrllent. The place is very clean. Even with the shared bathrooms. I felt like someone went in after every person left to clean. It was truly amazing. There Is a very large steep stairwell one has to walk up though. Thank goodness that was not a problem for us. But it could be for somebody. Otherwise always perfect I would absolutely stay there again.
Well. As you have read from others before. The cyclops restaurant bar down below does make some noise. But it also added to the charm. And they give you free earplugs so no problem as far as I can see.
I liked that there are lots of shared bathrooms. I liked the cozy size and layout of my room. The location is fine. It is a very short walk to Pike Place. There is local edible fare for sale in the rooms. I would consider staying again.
Old buildings with high ceilings mean sensitive acoustics. In a building such as this, there should not be 24 hour music piped throughout the hotel. There is no air conditioning in the room I was in. I don't know about other rooms. I guess having rooms at the top of the main stairs surrounding the reception area is nessisary, but they should be less expensive. Again, sensitive acoustics. I would consider staying here again, however, I would request a room away from the main entrance.
Lovely rooms and décor, and spotless bathrooms.
I know the Ace brand well and was expecting a lot from my stay. Me and my partner had just got engaged and so decided to stay at the Ace in Seattle as part of our celebration. The walls and windows are paper thin, which means even with earplugs we got no sleep due to traffic noise and noise from the corridor. I specifically asked to be put in a room away from the street (having read past reviews) and were put in a side room which looks out of a slip-round. The second night a big group of men arrived at the hotel and throughout the evening proceed to run around the corridor shouting. They partied until 4am and kept us awake with music and shouting - when I went out to reception the reception staff was there. I asked him if he could do anything and he just shrugged. The breakfast was also appalling - it was the same thing we had eaten in dodgy 2 star motels. I'd expect more from Ace. Finally the staff just case about looking cool. They refused to book a taxi in advance for us and seemed more worried about the taxi driver being annoyed at being kept waiting than the fact that we very nearly missed our train. Totally unimpressed.
Easy walk to downtown. Great bakery nearby. Probably good for younger crowd.
Bars nearby - LOTS of noise at night (this was a Thursday - not even a weekend). Mattress sticky - waterproof mattress cover?
I loved the location! We walked everywhere. Pike's Market, Columbia Observatory, the Sculpture garden, the Underground tour. There are tons of restaurants and bars along the way to keep hydrated ;) The shared bathrooms are pretty big. Bigger than a normal hotel room. I never had to wait in line or anything. Our room had a sink which is nice.
There is a flight of stairs before you get to the reception desk and rooms. But after all that walking, what is one more flight of stairs?
Location, value for your money, free breakfast, clean, very hip! Very nice & friendly staff!
No elevators. Quite noisy with our front corner room surrounded by pubs & bars.
It's only a 6 block walk to Pike Place Market in one direction, and about the same to the Space Needle in the other. Helpful staff, nice continental breakfast plus waffles. I stayed in a standard room with shared bath, and it was fine. Sink in the room, and 4 huge bathrooms down the hall -- no waiting. And it's 'green' if that matters to you.
Very convenient come to both pike place market and needle space.
A little bit noice for sleep as the hotel nearby the street.
Quite arty. Each room unique. Quite a nice change from generic motels. Breakfast provided. Staff excellent. Plenty of bathrooms , always clean and enough rooms for all. Reasonable price for Belltown. Convenient situation.
Small rooms with small bed and little storage. Extremely noisy day and night, with lorries, sirens and bar/ club goers. Breakfast ok but stodgy. would have liked more fresh fruit and some protein. No lift. This is really a posh hostel. Expensive for what you get.
Nothing more than a glorified hostel with a 'brand'. They need to refurb the hotel and offer amenities, services & the overall quality if experience that you'd expect from a boutique hotel - not a backpackers hostel
Location Good wifi
Noice outside at night
Loved the whole experience. We were there for 2 nights and loved the location - close to pretty much everything. We walked to Pike's Place market, the festival grounds and even the train station. Facilities were clean. Service was great. Breakfast wasn't all that great but didn't really expect much. And the shared bathrooms were surprisingly clean and well taken care of ... we'll be back!
Got a little noisy in the mornings and the breakfast fare was just ok.
Style, proximity to Pier 69 (5 mins walk to get the boat to Vancouver Island), easy walking distance to Spaceneedle, parks, Pike Market etc.
A bit noisy if you have a 1st Avenue side bedroom but cannot be helped in a city.
Location was good
Can't believe no lift in this hotel from ground floor to lobby. If staff were there they would offer to help but they were not always there!!! Front rooms are very noisy from street level both at night and early morning.
The breakfast was great, good variety, good quality
no lifts to take luggage upstairs, a large set of stairs to carry large bags up..room very basic and old.
Excellent staff Very clean toilets, showers and rooms Superb location Great breakfasts Free Wifi
Nice area of town, good local coffee & services, very close to bell street cruise terminal, down hill too.
The bed was very comfy. Complimentary toiletries were very nice. Overall experience and vibe of the place was cool
Breakfast options were a bit limited and the granola was too sweet. From the Ace experience one might expect home made granola.
