newly renovated interiors, very clean and comfy beds.
No swimming pool or hot tubs.
The service was very, very friendly, and the location was great for walking around town.
The traffic is a little noisy, but okay if you keep the window closed. All was extremely clean except the hair dryer (yuck! Replace it!) and the ironing board cover. Also, it'd be nice to have a better breakfast. At least some fruit and real cream for your coffee/tea.
The desk person - I think perhaps owner was so accommodating and friendly. The room was sound proof.
Only thing was the lack of pillows and the ones available were horrible! They need to be replaced.....
Rooms were very nicely furnished, exceptionally clean, and the bed was very soft.
Continental breakfast was just rolls, muffins, or toast plus coffee and orange juice. No cereal or fruit. And you ether ate in the lobby area or took the food back to your room.
Bed very uncomfortable Breakfast - we didn't even bother after having seen the set up Very noisy - other guests as well as road
I liked that the rooms were clean & comfortable.
The only bad thing at this hotel was that the wifi only worked intermittently. We were told each room only supports one device at a time.
The rooms were noise canceling, beds were very comfortable, and it was cheap for the quality of the hotel.
Beautiful tall Cherrywood Slay Beds or tall Dark Oak Poster Beds in every room, largest old engligh dressers and plush Queen Ann chairs. A++++ Acomadations! !
Interiors have all been updated nicely. Great value for the money.
man at desk could barely speek english and no place for pets to potty.
From the outside, the Acorn is a rather nondescript, smaller motor inn. As soon as you enter, however, you are warmly greeted by the owner and his staff in a nicely decorated lobby. The rooms are very clean, spacious and comfortable. Each comes with a microwave, small fridge, large flat screen TV (HBO and wi-fi complementary), and a light, continental breakfast is offered. I have stayed other places in Oak Harbor in the past, but my past two visits have been to the Acorn, and their attention to detail & friendly service will continue to get my business in the future.
Value and overall comfort
Not a bad experence but breakfast is just minimal
*I like the decorations/colors! *Inside was much nicer than I expected! *Morning staff (woman) was very nice and pleasant! Very helpful and friendly! Warm and inviting!
*We arrived late and the night person checking us in did not make me feel very welcome. He wouldnt explain any of the charges and couldn't give me a clear answer if he would be charging my debit card a deposit. He only kept asking me to sign the credit card slip and then he would explain the charges. Then when I signed, he didn't explain - rather he just gave me a slip of paper with a copy of the credit card charge on it. *We had a dog with us (who is very well trained - I’ve trained service dogs before). The male receptionist who checked us in kept telling me to make sure my dog doesn't tear up anything and doesn't pee or poop on the carpet. At 11pm at night I thought it was kinda funny that he was telling me these strict issues, then his own dog peers around the corner barking at us (my dog doesn't bark, it isn't her nature). *When we got into the room it was very cold in there. There was a weird body odor smell in the bathroom, almost like a strong body odor/wet clothes smell. We left the fan on, but it didn’t help at all. *The room itself had a strong perfume smell in it, almost like someone was trying to mask another smell. It was very overpowering. My son and I have allergies so this unique smell didn’t help either of us get a good night sleep. *Before turning off the lights I went over to the heater in the room and there are HUGE chairs in front of the heater and also there was curtains hanging down over the heater. I was extremely nervous about turning on the heater to warm the room because of a potential fire hazard (so we did not turn on the heater at all). But I also noticed that the window was open. If I had not gone to the heater to look at it I would not have noticed that the window was open. I shut the window and because we were on the bottom floor I made sure that it was also locked. I was sitting on the floor next to the refrigerator while my dog had her dinner (we had been on the road all day).
Courteous staff neat and tidy nice furniture nice weather central location
Bed was soft Microwave and dorm size refrigerator in room Layout was spacious enough for 2 adults and a small toddler. Free breakfast muffins were fresh and moist. Decor was nice and pleasing. Flexible staff accommodated my extra day without having to move my room.
Squeaky bed too many sitting chairs (bulky furniture) Roadside noise was loud until late night hours. "Continental breakfast" wasn't a true CB - it was muffins, bread, bagels, coffee & sometimes juice. No fruit.
Excellent in terms of cleanliness. Very nice staff. My stay was brief, (only one night) but very pleasant.
The rooms facing the street were still quite noisy from traffic, even in Little Oak Harbor. There might be a bit too much furniture in the room...two queen beds, nightstand, large dresser AND two chairs and a table in front of window.
Stayed at the Acorn in for one week during the holidays. From the outside, the hotel may not look like much, but inside it is amazing. The rooms were clean and beautifully decorated, the beds are very comfortable- my husband and I slept in later than we do at home! The staff was always very friendly and helpful. The Acorn Inn will be the only place we stay!
No healthy food for continental breakfast
All of it
We would leave for the day and the room was always great when we got back
The one at the desk was great. We asked about 62 and over. He said you would have to call in. I change credit cards and he said next time used the one I want when I go on line to sav e the room. He just made every thing that was wrong I did it. Then the breakfast was very poor for such a nice motel.
being left alone
the continental breakfast was in Tupperware with tongs on top, which might have been dropped for all I know. bread who knows how old? eh... it was ok.
This is exactly what a bargain hotel should be. clean, comfortable, with everything you need and nothing more. The decore is a bit odd, but that's fine. The price literally cannot be beat.
If you like a quick breakfast, the Starbucks across the street may be a better bet.
Price, Location, Clean!
Continental Breakfast was....weak?
The room was outstanding.
The breakfast was not on par with everything else.
