Great location and really nice breakfast and room service selections .
The elevator needs agood cleaning out!! Very stinky
Location is somewhat convenient, although starting to get far enough away from Union Square that it's not as nice.
Wifi was barely working for the entire 7-day stay. Room was tiny and had no A/C.
This place was what I expected: clean and no frills. After many busy days, it was great to come back to a quiet room. While I love being able to look out my window and see the view of the city, I appreciated having an interior room that was incredibly quiet. No noisy neighbors = restful night's sleep!
The free breakfast was pretty substandard. I ended up going to Starbucks for coffee and cereal.
Bed and bedding nice for the price point.
Halls were outdated, I use the term putting lipstick on a pig. Layers of old paint covered up with fresh paint. Rooms carpet was drab.
This is very comfortable hotel in downtown SF. It's a little too "techie" "hipstery," but I totally dig it. Clean rooms, spacious, great TV and bed.
The bathrooms were scarce and the towels were low quality but nothing for the price in comparison, great deal.
There were 4 of us, my wife plus two kids, 10 and 15. I've stayed in San Francisco many times and at many different hotels. Our stays are usually long so I opt to spend extra on hotels. This trip we were meeting friends from Germany and they were staying at this hotel, so I booked 1 night here also so we could all be together. The hotel was good, nothing to complain about. Would I stay here again? Probably not. The location was a little seedy for me in the Tenderloin district, but knowing the Tenderloin district, it could have been much worse. The room was adequate for a 1 night stay and they did have valet parking with in n out privilege. They ask for a 30 min window to have your car ready. Anyways, it within walking distance of shopping and Union Square is an easy 10 minute walk. Recommended for the younger couple, or coming into town to party.
Staff were fair
No AC, slightly smelly, elevator is very smelly. They did not post they don't have an AC. High price during the conference days(Exploited people need with high price for low quality hotel)
Everything basic things you need in the hotel room, hairdryer, good WiFi, good bed, ironing possibilities, clean and neat
Small rooms, yet good for someone who does not want to waste time (or money) in a hotel room. Continental breakfast, but yet better that in most London hotels...
The hotel is walking distance to Union Square and there are shops and restaurants close by. There is a bus that stops at the front of the hotel so transport is not really a problem. The staff are very helpful and accommodating.
It is a bit pricey for an old hotel. The room is small. The eating area is located beside the reception so it's an awkward place to eat.
the fact my old next door neighbort used to work there the newest remodel best since building was built...over 100 years ago...still 100 yrs old
the multiple times ive stayed there i have given the person that checked me in the service tag for my dog and the night auditor threatens to charge me 200 dog deposite every time The manager is very rude the fact they took 50 of the 100 dollar deposite becaue i used the coffee pot to let my dog drink rrom
Comfortable bed , the only decent thing in the property
The carpeting looks like it hasn΄t been changed since 1963 . The people at the reception speak to you as if they're doing you a favor ! And they have no idea who's coming in and out of the hotel at night . No idea what so ever !
clean rooms Friendly and helpfull staff All new and shiny Clean and save street Close to everything
Breakfast was really bad, only toast and jelly, yoghurt, banana and a waffel that can hardly be called a waffel.
Good location and fair rates
old hotel, not much space in the room, no air conditioning
Descent bed .
The emtire hotel smelled funny . The carpet was filthy , needs to be changed yesterday . Too many homeless people around .
Set us up for airport service. Wrong date and took our money. No protein at breakfast. Staff is RUDE!!
The staff was friendly & very helpful especially in recommending places to eat & booking transportation to the airport.
The breakfast selection could have been better. No air conditioning so with the windows open you could hear the conversations & noises from the adjacent building making it difficult to sleep.
Nice location , close to the cable car and all the buses . Wonderful bed .
They need to change the carpeting asap . It makes the room look old .
Location and price
Bed was not level. Dish TV difficult to use, lots of useless chanels hard to access local news
The hotel is close to Union Square, the cable car, Chinatown is within walking distance too. Our room was very quiet and well maintained. the hotel kindly stored our luggage for us as we had a late flight.
Apparently the ice bucket from our room went missing on the morning we left. The hotel person practically accused us of stealing it (as if we wanted an ice bucket???) We had enjoyed our stay but this left rather a bad taste.
I really liked that we were able to play music while getting ready and no one could hear it or complained. It was very close tomany restaurants, Walgreens, Starbucks, and walking distance to Ruby Skye.
The parking was hard to understand cause I was told to park my car in front of a driveway until they moved it but then I guess the real owner of the drive way came to say something to me that bothered me. They building was really old upstairs. The hotel could use some vending machines.
Lobby was renovated.
Rooms and overall service - no AC, not sound insulated, no opening window, smelled funny, bed wasn't refreshed daily...just remade, wake-up calls not consistent (didn't get one two days).
Lots of eating places nearby and laundromat across the street.
The overhead lights and fan (there's no air conditioning) must have been on a timer because it kept going off during the night. Long wait for elevator. Night staff when we checked in could be a bit friendlier!
Good location. It's good to get free Wi-Fi and free breakfast.
A homeless man came lobby and he tried to eat free breakfast. Hotel employees refused him and he went out. I felt scarly. Suddenly a guy who I don't know came my room. He had a same room key. Hotel employee missed to give him my room key. It was terrible.
