Staff, location and modern
I found the hotel great while I was there on business, however I had a room with a view, which was great but a bit noisy, I would choose one at the back the next time to get a good night sleep
great location. very comfortable bed. nice to have the free wine at 5pm, but the lounge was so crowded we couldn't find a seat, so it sort of defeated the purpose. Fitness centre was decent for a small hotel. efficient check-in/check-out
Cleaning was variable(we arrived to a dirty coffee cup and strange smell in the fridge) and often very late in the day. Our room faced the back, so the view was not nice, but it was relatively quiet except for the noise of the lift right outside our door. very basic amenities in the bathroom: no shower cap/cotton buds no minibar you have to pay an extortionate amount for wifi in your room - in this day and age that is ridiculous and a practice that should be stopped
I would recommend this hotel to anyone because of its location and quality. it's a beautiful property with much to offer.
the only complaint I have is the cost of wifi. because it is readily available in hotels across nyc I find it very behind the time to charge for wifi & lots of people would stay elsewhere because of this feature.
Great stay in a great location. Staff was excellent and super friendly.
Super comfy bed. Near subway. Wonderful staff. Room was street level, near intersection. Fun sitting in the little white chair and people watching while getting ready.
They allow pets. Dog next door was barking 24/7. NO MINI BAR. :( Had heat set to 80 and but actual temp wouldn't go over 70. Bring your own shampoo and soap, They have refillable bottles locked into the shower. Hard to get anything out of them and poor quality product anyway. Check your bill they put under the door, they tried put early check in on both of my nights, which amounted to almost $140 extra after taxes.
beds, room and location
bathtowels, not enough and to small for the price of the room. I also expect a few badic amendities like a cotton ball, for this price category. reception staff changes continuesly and seems unexperienced and clueless about every thing asked.
The Affina 50 is in a great location, and the staff were very friendly and accommodating.
Wi-Fi very expensive.
Location & price were great.
Expensive parking fee.
Location. Beds are comfortable and the 16th floor you cant hear much noise.
The valet double parked my car, and i got a ticket, while they say they will pay it, it should never have happened and i felt brushed off and have non-evidence of it being paid. The elevators are horrid! The staff could be friendlier.
Had to wait long time to get my car
They should antecipate and warn us ( thouse with reservation ) they would have a mantainace in the water system. No water in bathroom from 8:30 am til 7:00 pm on Nov 4th. Very bad governance with their guests
Very clean, comfortable accommodations. Enjoyed continental breakfast and early evening social time in lounge.
Room, location, bed, guest lounge.
Rooms were great although only had view of scaffold and building rubble due to external works. Not sure we got a good deal via concierge for theatre tickets. Was very helpful and service convenient but ended up paying 30 dollars per head above face value and seats not where expected.
Nice bathroom. Good counter space. Good climate control. Excellent location. Liked the wood floor in the entry to the room. Makes it seem cleaner. Wish more hotels had hard surface flooring.
Elevators were SLOW, and one was broken. The front desk didn't seem to think so, but it was.
* Location is excellent * Staff is very helpful * Hotel is clean and comfortable (except for the noise - see the right side)
* The sound isolation of the windows is quasi-inexistent and requires some improvement * For a hotel of this price, I do not understand why wi-fi is an extra. I instead purchased a 4G SIM from T-Mobile for 25% of the hotel's weekly wi-fi pass
- Location - fantastic, easy access anywhere via subway. - Really very good restaurants - ethnic and otherwise - within a short walk or ride. - Room kept very clean by the staff (who were friendly and excellent). - Warm & welcoming front desk staff. - Very friendly and helpful doormen.
- Windows need to be replaced with soundproofed models...I've been in hotels next to very busy international airports...and couldn't hear at all the sound of the jumbo jets taking off less than a mile away, or busy traffic on nearby major roads. The street sounds in NYC are normal, I know, but they are VERY loud coming into the room making sleep challenging.
Along history of having stayed at the Affinia hotels for the past 20 years
For the last few years we have been bothered by the renovation and reconstruction of the Affinia 50. An attempt at modernization has been anything but an improvement with strange bathroom closures and bizarre wall paper. During our last stay we booked a Deluxe Queen room. Although the room was described by the staff as an excellent room,we arrived to find extensive electrical equipment in the closet and on the balcony.Scaffolding was in disarray on the balcony and signs on the balcony doors warned not to go out.The frame around the doors was not sealed and there were five inch holes at either side of the doors. Additional there was no heat in the building and we were unable to warm the room above 68 degrees. A small space heater and blankets were made available but were of little use. This room was certainly not available for guests!! We seriously regretted out choice of hotels!!
Over priced breakfast, very limited and also over priced room service; the free wifi area is not open 24 hours and during the weekends there is no breakfast available.
The staff were really helpful.
We choose the affinia 50 because we wanted to be central to manhattan, to walk out the door and have everything on our doorstep - the hotel did not disappoint. The room was large enough for a family four and the teenagers appreciated the food delivery to our hotel door. My husband particularly liked the happy hour every evening. The only minor niggle was the lack of wifi in the room but it was not difficult to go to 2nd floor and sit on a sofa and do what needed to done online. Another very positive aspect was the fantastic diner a couple of doors up from the hotel that provided the best breakfasts with New York charm for the most difficult of diners. Highly recommended.
Very comfortable beds ! Large rooms with queens ! Children loved ping pong table and we loved the free wine hour. Great location ! Close to all the atrraction!
No restaurant inside
The staff was very friendly and accomodating. The beds were comfortable and the room was tidy.
The bathroom was a little too small and did not have ventilation. Also the room could have been vacuumed a little better.
Clean and comfortable room
Somewhat noisy at night during sleep hours
We really enjoyed the happy hour, the friendliness of the staff, especially the door men. The location was great for us.
We had issues with the air-conditioning unit not cooling our room, plus it was really noisey. We've been traveling now or 5 weeks and this would be rated one of our worse air-con exprience.
The staff were friendly, the room was big enough for 2 adults and kids, the kitchen was good.
