The room was a good, comfortable size with good amenities. The bed was enormous. Room service was excellent. Ideal location, would use the hotel again and recommend to others.
The amount of homeless people in the area.
Can't imagine a better location. Across from Penn Station and a couple blocks from Herald Square subway station. They had a room ready for us when we arrived at 3pm. We've stayed at 3 different Affinia's and we keep going back.
The staff was wonderful...very efficient, friendly and helpful
The comfortable beds, the size of the deluxe rooms, great location, good facilities (in-room safe is useful), reasonable room rates (for NYC), the daily happy hour, and the impressive lobby with comfortable seating (good for when using the free wi-fi).
Bathrooms can be quite small, no free wi-fi in the room, the carpets in the hallways on nearly every level are so worn (!!!), and there is regular noise in some rooms from the nearby fire station.
Good location and very close to Madison Square Garden for our concert to see Bruno Mars
Room was very small
The staff was wonderful. So helpful and so pleasant. Stored our bags for day no charge while we went sightseeing. Room was small but very comfortable. Everything we needed right in the room. Enjoyed the wine hour which was a plus! Wine & beer served...nice. The Niles Restaurant there was fabulous! What a wonderful stay. Out our window we could see MSG. We will go again!
There was nothing we didn't like.
Friendly staff, nice décor, clean. Thankful they could accommodate us, it was a last minute booking.
Noisy, but you would expect that in NY, room was a bit small for 4 adults, we should have upgraded to a larger room, at the time it was not offered probably due to our last minute booking.
howe many surrey s do I need to do?
We were in a room at the back of the hotel and every evening there was lots of homeless people sleeping in card board boxes. On our first night there was lots of noise and people screaming. The church feeds the people but its very distressing when your on holiday I found it sad and alarming. The people left loads of mess on the paths lots of rubbish and empty boxes. Some people did clean the pathways. I mentioned it on the first morning to staff in the foyer but their reaction was very flippant they said the church feeds them. If I was to return to the hotel I would request a room not over looking the church.
Great location. Great Staff!
The rooms are tired. The couch had stains on it. The carpet was totally worn out. Expensive for what you get but you're paying for the location.
Location Bed Kitchen
Clear Staff Noise
Very good hotel stayed here before and would stay again and there is Avery good cocktail bar and restaurant in the hotel which is very good
Room was very comfy and really well presented
Lifts take to long
I love this hotel, great location directly across from Madison Square Garden and Penn Station. Rooms are nice and clean. Frequently find GREAT deals for this room on Booking.
Can't really think of any negatives to this property. It can be noisy in the lobby, because it is a popular hotel with tourists domestic and foreign.
Room set up
Staff understanding and flexibility
ELEVATORS WERE SLOW
The location was perfect for us. We were able to upgrade (at a cost) to larger accomdations and the extra space was fantatsic as we were a family of 4 (2 adult children) staying in NYC for another sibiling's college graduation. The suite was so large it was easy to have others over for drinks ebfore going out to dinner.
The hotel is older and for the most part it's history and age are part of its charm. Howevere, the air conditioning is by window units. The one unit in the bderoom worked well, but the one in the rest of the suite struggled and it was somewhat warm. Fortunately the temperatures were not bad when we were there, but in the middle of summer it could get uncomfortable.
I just generally love Affinia Manhattan.
Not much to dislike.
Window can be a bit draughty.
Nice situated on Manhatten with close distance to Times Square
Steady noise from the street, and a church in the backyard
Not much, surely staff (even worse than usual for NYC)
Dirty, dirty, dirty, Not being honest with customers on the internet,( no idea lifts & more were being refurbished) Had conference dinner there food so bad many people went out afterwards for food. Simply one of the WORST hotels I've ever stayed in.
location is perfect
Noise from the street
The location is very central. Just across the road from Madison square garden. The room was very spacious and comfortable.
The elevator was being upgraded so we had to wait a while on occasion.
Good central location for sightseeing, shops, restaurants and transport, good wifi, friendly staff, comfy beds
Noisy but expected with central location, shortage of storage for family of 4, mirror above desk would have been useful
