We checked in fairly early (7 pm), and when we got to our room, we saw
that the sink was very dirty -- as if someone had literally rinsed off
something that had dirt all over it and left a dirty ring that
didn't wash away when we turned on the tap. The rest of the bathroom
*seemed* spotlessly clean (but who knows) if a little shabby. We brought
the dirty sink to the attention of the staff member at the desk, and she
told us that there was nothing she could do about it, as she was
literally the only staff member on duty and she could not leave. Really?
Not even one maintenance person to wipe out our sink with some bleach?
She couldn't even give us a Clorox wipe, or offer us a $10 refund
off our stay -- nothing? We didn't make a big fuss about it, but we
felt a bit wary of the clean appearance of everything else -- if the
sink was left so obviously dirty, was the rest of the room actually
cleaned? The sink had a very slow drain too, probably from the dirt that
was rinsed down it. Whatever -- I've stayed in far worse. We were on
a lower floor & some people above us were making a valiant effort to
stomp around, so that was annoying. We were tired so we were able to
fall asleep easily regardless, and checked out first thing in the
morning. Don't expect much of anything for the continental breakfast
-- basically yogurt, coffee, watery orange juice, plastic-wrapped fruit,
and toast. So unless you have a massive hankering for some Yoplait, skip
it. We had planned on getting breakfast elsewhere anyway -- I don't
come to Portland for cheapo hotel food.
It was mostly clean, in a safe location, staff was friendly. It had
everything we needed, but we didn't need much (just a safe place to
crash that was relatively clean and had a flushing toilet), so if
you're looking for a lot of amenities, this is not the place.
