The house is stuffed full of antiques and has a lovely atmosphere. The full breakfast is excellent.
The wifi was very variable and as I needed to be in constant contact with the UK it was irritating that the wifi kept cutting out. When I mentioned the problem they willingly sorted it out. But clearly it was not the first time they had a problem with the router.
Wonderful b&b! Our room was beautiful, the hosts welcoming and the food delicious. They went out of their way to help us locate a misplaced camera! We would certainly come again for a visit!
Start to finish, this was a fantastic stay! From being greeted at the door, to the delicious breakfast, the staff made this a great experience. The room and the whole mansion were beautiful and in great condition. I highly recommend this place.
warm welcome by staff helpfulness awesome breakfast lovely, comfortable home
My wife wanted to go visit Watkins Glen State Park and I was looking to find a hotel nearby. The online ratings were far superior to all other hotels, and that is for good reason. If you would like a place that is beautiful, clean, and with a welcoming and friendly owner, no other B&B or hotel comes close.
Very clean room. Hosts were very helpful. Had a great stay.
Gracious hosts, lovely room, great jacuzzi tub.
The owners were very welcoming and we felt very at home. Great dinner recommendation and breakfast was very Europiean classical. We wouldn't hesitate rebooking.
The mansion is gorgeous, and the rooms are all beautifully decorated - not in the "kitchy" over-done style favored by some B&Bs, but tasteful and appropriate decor that compliments the incredible Victorian mansion, rather than overwhelms it. We loved the hostess, who took care to get to know us a bit, offer advice for local sights and dining, and made us feel welcome without intruding on our privacy. My only regret is that we didn't stay longer, and that we were there for the Vintage Racing at Watkns Glenn, and this were too busy during the day to spend as much time relaxing in the living areas as I'd have liked. And of course, the view of the falls is spectacular - we could see it from our bedroom window, and it was perhaps 200 yards from the door of the mansion.
Carol and family were so welcoming and helpful with suggestions for activities and dining. Breakfast was delicious!
Lovely house with great décor Hosts were terrific Breakfasts were great Convenient to Watkins Glen Loved waterfall next to property
Our room only had a tub
Absolutely loved our stay at Old Cook B&B. It was our first time at Watkins Glenn and staying at Old Cook Inn made it delightful. Our room was cozy, beautiful and very clean. Our room was on the first floor (Jerusalem Room) and the bathroom had a old bathtub and no shower or shower attachment. We knew that when booking the room so it was not a surprise and we did not mind that at all. The breakfast was unbelievable! Abundance of fresh fruits/berries. Carol, the owner was making sure we all were having plenty to eat. Carol herself is a delight, so helpful and has good recommendations where to have dinner or lunch, and helpful any way she can. Thank You Carol! The Cook Mansion is full of her over the years collected pieces from all over the worls. Cozy rooms and outside areas to enjoy. Mountur Falls is so close to everything and nice quiet village. I would not even think of staying anywhere else on our next trip to that area.
Hostess and breakfeast
My wife and I recently returned from a long weekend at Cook Mansion, We selected the property for its proximity to our selected itinerary. Carol, the hostess, was very helpful and has a fairly encyclopedic knowledge of the area and activities. She recommended a very nice place for lunch in Hammondsport, about a 45 minute drive away on Keuka Lake, The Village Lodge, I believe. We enjoyed our stay.
We really have no complaints.
We liked everything, from the moment we entered the Reception area. Carol, the owner, greeted us as if we were members of her family. She is a lovely person, and so accommodating. We couldn't ask for anything nicer. This was one of our nicest times away from home.
We liked (loved) everything.
Great location. Beautiful home and lovely breakfast with formal China.
the breakfast was suoerb
Carol and John are the greatest of host. Felt at home. Peaceful and totally not urban. Great!
Great staff, friendly, polite and went the extra step
The little touches like the wine glasses, cookies, mini fridge, Keurig, pitcher of water and the chocolates on our pillows upon arrival. The falls view from our room. The patios for relaxing. The breakfast. The staff and owner. The decor. Basically liked almost everything!
The room we stayed in was on the first floor by the main entrance so it was a bit noisy at times. No shower or shower attachment just a tub, but we had no choice because this was the only room left when we booked last minute
Spacious bedroom and bathroom. Very friendly and welcoming. Convenient location to all wineries and right next to Montour Falls. Fabulous bathtub for soaking after hiking during the day.
No shower head/spray hose, made for challenging hair washing.
A house like a fairytail... If not done already robin williams would have loved to play his role as older Peter Pan in Grandmum Wendys house in cook mansion new... amazing rooms and house And so polite and charming We loved it Thanks for this stay your german guests Axel, Sabine, Celina and Alex
Rooms are really not like hotel rooms but like 19-century colonial house. It's really worth to see and stay. You actually will be able to see small water fall from hotel. Very close location to Watkinson Glen national park. Mura Bell restaurant within 3-minites walk. P.S. Be sure to have full-parade closes for breakfast (jeans and shorts are really not for such ceremonial breakfast).
WiFi is poor. But there should be pigeon post in this House, not internet :-))
Lovely setting. Eclectic and intriguing furnishing. Amazing breakfast... do not eat again until the evening. Excellent hosts.
Having to leave.
The owner and her family were warm and hospitable. The mansion is incredible in its decor. The breakfast was outstanding and the service was excellent. The location was minutes from the Glen Watkins State Park w/ the gorge and falls. Again the owners were wonderful people.
Could use a new(er) mattress. Bathroom hopper was a tight fit.
