Location is great. Id close to golden gate....
Rooms were smelly.
the price was right good location
bed was bad bad pillows bad no smoke decetor in room lots of little unfinished things
It was in a decent spot, and the room was large.
There was a dangerously broken power socket, TV wall bracket was unstable, shower pressure was weak, and price per night seemed very high for the overall room standard.
Liked the perfect Location for public transportation, tour pick ups, pharmacy across the street, restaurants...
Hotel was not neatly cleaned, office staff does not go above and beyond with customer services. If you are on a budget and are a bit germaphobic, travel like me, with an old set of sheets, pillow cases, and towels; also shower sandals. At end of trip leave them behind and make room for souvenirs and new purchases.
Dirty, old microwave. Too expensive for this facility and accomodation
The location was good close to good bars and food
Everything else but location
The location close to the marina district. The manager is very helpful.
The place is in poor condition it needs maintenance. Holes in the toilet door and exposed powerpoints are just a start.
I asked for a refund after 10 mins of being in the room and staff obliged with out any arguments.
Room looked nothing like the pictures building smelt like urine and so did the room. There was no aircon. Guy at front desk barely spoke English. Room was dirty and had chunks missing out of the wall, all the furniture was old, there was no safe. For $20 more a night found a lovely hotel up the road well worth the extra money.
The front desk person was nice, but a bit pushy (possibly the owner). We would give this inn less than one star. I've seen Youth Hostels better than this. My wife would have preferred we slept in the car! Booked it on booking.com. We knew it was a 2 star, but the pictures seemed decent enough for one night. The person working the front (possibly the owner) did not seem to care if I put this review up, he says he made it clear that all the GOOD rooms and parking are on a first come first serve basis. NO! Only the other reviews say that about parking. The Alpha Inn's description does not state that and definitely not about the rooms! There is a different building next door that is actually part of the hotel. The quality of the buildings is visibly different and the rooms are too! I hope the community who actually reads these reviews, heads this warning. Avoid staying here, unless you absolute need too. I honestly would not give this room to a homeless person for free and we paid $100 for it! Bring your own towels, pillows and a sleeping bag to sleep in the bed. Let the power as an online community push business's like this to have to meet a higher standard and be more honest about their service!
The ONLY (2) positives about this place is the size of the room and location
I asked to see our room b4 checking in...it was not even cleaned after last guest. I asked the owner for a room that was ready and he obliged. We got to the room as was impressed by the size. Well, the experience went down hill from there! Every outlet cover was missing exposing live wires, the smoke detector was covered w/plastic bag, no AC, wi-fi miserable, the sink faucet was off the fixture and dangling in the sink and NO HOT WATER. Patiently I called the office and asked to change rooms, I was told to let the water run for 10 min and it will get hot. <California is in a horrible drought and he wanted me to run (waste) water for 10 min????> I said that was unacceptable and would like another room. Got another room which was better but not by much. Lastly, although the rooms are "no smoking" rooms, they all, even the hallways, smelled like used ashtrays
Street noise all night No pool availability
Friendly personal, big rooms, rigt location.
No air conditioned
Location and free parking. Openable windows.
We were on the bottom floor near the entrance. The room was in very poor condition and smelled of mildew but we were afraid to keep windows open. The room needs lots of repairs. Very high price- $217 for the room. We've stayed in rooms starting at $69 per night with much better results. Would not stay here or recommend it until unless they made significant improvements to the room. Door to restroom had two large holes as if someone kicked them. Carpet was very dirty.Shower/restroom had lots of mold on walls and the caulking around the tub was widely separated as if perhaps the tub was too small for the space. Comforters were stained and very old. Chairs for dining table badly stained. Weather stripping was hanging from the front door. If we could have re-located, we would have.
They have free parking although limited spaces.
Condition of room
Location Parking Cleanliness Staff friendly
Old and tattered Holes in bathroom door Paint peeling No breakfast
Man at beat up front desk was friendly. Maids roaming halls strewn with wet dirty linens were friendly. Sets the standard for web catalyzed misrepresentation. Bed bugs did not bite me. Did not see a rat. GG bridge visible from room.
After one night of misery I found new lodging forfeiting 100s of dollars. Dirty floor. Stained chairs. Torn blankets. Broken light fixtures. Dirty windows. Poorly functioning lock.
Room is spacious and comfortable
Minifridge not properly operational it freezes everything. Tv non operational despite telling the staff several times.
Close to good restaurants.
Smell in the room. Noisy bathroom vent. Above neighbor left a bathroom vent on and it was so noisy that we couldn't sleep and had to go in the middle of the night to get the owner to deal with this issue.
Helpful staff, a little over priced, front desk let me know to quiet down very politely cause I guess person below me complained but I thought it was cool that they didn't call the cops so I obliged.
great location in marina district
Room very dirty Pool not available There's two Alpha inn, they don't show the one in the building on booking
Location a lot of places to eat and shop at
Traffic and no air condition
The location was great. There are tons of great restaurants and is close to Presidio. It was very close to my doctor appointment.
The room was very small and the bed was uncomfortable. There was a lot of traffic noise. The pillows were flat as pancakes. The carpets are worn. The room was not well ventilated so it had a strong smell of carpet freshener or something like it. I won't return.
The area is a good spot (close to Chesnut str - a lot of cafés and restaurants and close to the bay) My room (111) was really big. Choose a room close to the swimming pool( not the building).
Old motel, could be renovated for the price but everything is expansive in SF.
I could see the springs in the mattress, and was kept up all night by the man in the next room snoring.
