Friendly staff, and clean rooms
The hotel restaurant is closed on Monday and Tuesday in the Winter!! This should be vividly noted on the hotel's web page. Not good to have no food available at all except in vending machines! The thermostat in our first room was broken; had difficulty convincing the repair person that it was, indeed, broken. The heating system is, overall, quite archaic. Fan way too noisy. Would not want to stay here in the summer and have to listen to the AC! Old, see-through towels!
The staff, especially Steve and Sarah and Delilah and Beau, were fantastic. These people were very personable and helpful to us re our specific needs, e.g., car rental, driving conditions, shuttles, advice re seeing the high points of the city of Fairbanks, getting boarding passes.
Rooms were comfortable, staff friendly and very helpful. I chose this hotel for it's location for the start of the Iditarod and it turned out to be perfect. Would stay there again.
Horrible service looked like a breaking down hotel
The Young man at the Desk seemed to have an attitude and was very rude.
the cleanliness and comfort
Close to airport with free shuttle
Restaurant/bar just ok. With so many items on the menu and in bar unavailable, only the great lounge staff made dining/ drinking here acceptable.
Wish staff had been more attuned to warn us when we cared off luggage with them and deferred checking in so as to rush for the shops that they would be closed early on Sun so we needn't have spent over $30 on transport on a failed trip to town.
airport shutter service, provision of computer and internet at common area and friendly staff.
There was a low pitched, grumbling whine from the air circulating system. When I complained to the night staff, they told me it wasn't there. As I have previously worked for this hotel, I knew it was and had been since the place was built. The night staff treated me as if I were crazy.
The bed was comfortable. The continental breakfast was good. The young lady at the desk (Mary?) was exceptionally friendly!
Rooms were small
Middle of winter its free to park, they offer transportation and breakfast
Dust around the walls and around the night stands. Did not like that.
Coffee, breakfast. Dining area.
I got reservation on short notice and was treated so nice, room was awesome
Desk staff was soso.
The bed and tv
We were not allowed to book in 5 mins early. Just stand around and wait. No good reason.
1. Walls are paper thin - you can easily hear your neighbors talking 2. WiFi in my room was terrible - was told that the quality depends on which room you have (really?!?) 3. Breakfast buffet is a free-for-all - too crowded and not enough facilities for the number of people 4. Restaurant is closed on Sundays, leaving no dining out options in the immediate area
Front desk staff are friendly, free shuttle to/from airport and rail station
Price and internet crashing all the time. Not a place to "stay connected" with the outside world. Over priced rooms are reflected in where you are. Location, location, location. We could not find any room bargains anywhere in the area and suspect there are not any being the reason anyone goes there is Denali and area recreational interests.
Location, Location, Location. Train station too far away to drag luggage but not a problem in any case as area motels offer free shuttle pick up and lodging in this case was only ten minutes. Check in was painless, efficient. World class lodging area for this part of Alaska all the way. Focus on where you are, and why you are there, and the negative issues will go away. The area is not intended to support your usual internet communication with the outside world. The area and attractions can not be seen in only a week. The park alone is huge.Too much to see and do. We need to come back.
I booked this hotel 2months in advance, the price in Booking is $175 per night. But before I arrived, I found the price reduced to $105. But the receptionist refused to give me cheaper price. It totally unfair!! How about the cheapest price guarantee in Booking? Why I need to book in advance?! It is cheating and rob!!
It near to airport. But the price is ridiculous . the freezer is very noisy
Nothing, it was just what I was looking for.
Good position. Plenty of car parking available. Restaurant OK but restaurant staff a bit inexperienced
Shuttle pick up from Rail Station.
limited TV channels. Breakfast not the best I have had in hotels. Did not like soap in bathroom (too small)
Bed was comfortable, room was clean, breakfast was just OK.
not that alaskan.
close to the airport.
Room wasn't clean. We stayed for two days, no new towels were issued. Bathroom wasn't touched, garbage wasn't emptied. Heating system was loud. Refrigerator didn't keep items cold.
We had stayed at the Alpine a year prior and had no issues. This time was horrible. We won't be staying there again.
That the bar didn't stay open later !
I liked the bar.
Wifi was down almost a week, room and laundry staff are not that precise, only 1 washer is working, breakfast is barely passable, and could use revamping.
Sarah, Steve, and Christo were all efficient, they helped smooth out some bumps 7n the road. Sarah deserves more $$, and should be running the front desk!!
