Score from 98 reviews Very good
Wood floors squeak. Walls are thin you can hear through them from next room. A lot of bumping can hear people walking outside door. We did not sleep well. To much dust in hall. Elevators to small.
finished room was nice
under construction, too much ugliness
The hotel had a historical feel. The staff were friendly and helpful.
The hotel was under construction during our visit.
The location and the staff
That it was getting renovated and the water was not hot at all
I love the mix of classic vaulted ceilings and old brick with modern amenities and a comfortable and practical experience.
The hotel is currently under renovation so the layout was a little cumbersome to navigate.
Lots of space in our room. Pretty good location. But that is the only good things I can say about this hotel.
Room was not cleaned. All bedding was clean, but floors, furniture, and window seals full of dust. It had hardwood flooring, which definitely hadnt been swept in a few days. Room was very noisy due to the old building and no insulation. We could also hear all street noise throught the old windows. Other guests were up all hours of the night yelling and partying and no one seemed to care and staff did not try to let them know there were other guests trying to sleep. Air conditioner in our room was also broken. Maintenence never did fix it. Lots of construction throughout entire hotel, which was frustrating. The front of the building looked as if hotel was closed when we arrived due to this. I think they should let guests know about rennovations when they book. Otherwise, we would not have stayed here. Also the next morning workers were drilling and hammering at 7am on our walls outside our room! So rude of a hotel to let guests experience this.
The location was in walking distance of most of the places we wanted to visit. The room we stayed in was very large.
We had to ask twice for a waste basket. We waited 1/2 and hour for an iron. The room didn't have a refrigerator. Construction crews were hammering at 7:00 a.m. The breakfast selection was poor.
We got an amazing deal on this hotel for our recent stay-cation, and we were head over heels with the design of our room. This place is going to be breathtaking whenever the renovations are complete...I'm afraid we won't be able to afford it anymore! We also loved the easy and reasonable paid parking across the street (we did not valet). Easy access to the quarter, but far enough from all the action that you can sleep soundly at night.
my check in was a mess, but the staff was very helpful and i got a discount.
my check in was really bad. the construction of the hotel made it not worth the price.
Seriously great location! So close to the French Quarter, but also near some new hip, cool, and up and coming restaurants outside of the Quarter. Not to mention, its only a block from Mother's. Staff was very friendly. Really great black out curtains.
There was a lot of construction going on not only in the hotel, but on the street in front. The construction in the hotel did not detract too much from my stay because the hotel was really just a crash pad. The parking fee ($32) was a bit ridiculous, considering there are hotels in the Quarter that are only $20. There is also a $9.95 "resort" fee for each night you stay. I was disappointed that they would not accept the tax exempt form I had brought, but even more so that it took them 2 1/2 days and 4 check in's by me with them to tell me this. I found it strange that I asked twice the first day, once the second, and again upon check out, but they only gave me an answer upon check out. The beds are the LOUDEST beds I've ever slept in....super squeaky. The noise would wake me up whenever I shifted in bed or my friend in the other bed shifted. The mattresses were a little lumpy and much to soft as well.
I liked the location of the hotel because it was conveniently located in walking distance to several tourist sites.
The hotel is in a good location, friendly staff
Renovation works in progress, poor breakfast
No information about current renovations, the price does currently not match the standard of the hotel
Location is excellent, free WIFI
noisy at weekends (located next to night-club)
Long walk to elevators, keys would not always work. Hard to lock doors. noise from hallways
renovations noise from next room
The front desk staff and housekeeping were mostly friendly. The location was decent-walking distance to many sites! (We walked an average of 15 miles per day exploring). Also, hotel is very close to Mother's cafe- amazing breakfast we had there!
The rooms are very noisy- walls seem paper thin. I believe it is due to all the hard surfaces (concrete, wood flooring...) and not enough sound absorbabilify. If you are a light sleeper, this is not the place to stay! Also, the bar and restaurant are under renovation, so expect added noise and dust due to that. We did not find the hotel comfortable enough to warrant another stay.
I absolutely enjoyed my stay
I liked everything
No one likes the construction noise
The location was good not to far a walk to the French Quarter but close to Museum District..The staff is the Hotels best selling point, they went out of their way to point out places to see as we only had a day In New Orleans.
The pictures online DO NOT represent the Hotel!! They are going through renovation but that does not excuse the lack of sound proof rooms ( we heard everything on our floor all night , it was a Tuesday I can't imagine the weekend). There was mold on the ceilings, and ripped shower curtains.. I'm still unsure of the cleanliness of the bedding .. I would have done better at a roadside Motel. My husband and I have traveled all over the world ( except Asia) and this is my worst review . I wish it wasn't in a city in my own country..
Although the hotel is clearly in the middle of a remodel it still has a great charm and feel. The location is ideal because you are right in the middle of all the fun.
I got to say a few negatives. Much like the other reviews our hardwood floors were slick as the devil. The WiFi was hit or miss Lastly, the parking on the website clearly states a different price but I ain't mad the staff loaded and unloaded our car and came to the room for our bags so it was amazing.
Our room was directly across the street from a bar that played techno music until all hours. And if that didn't keep you up, the noise from the hallway would. Not a very soundproof place for a hotel. $32 to park added onto $10 for wifi.....all the incidentals & taxes added an additional $75 to the bill
Water shut off. Under renovation Decrepid
The only thing nice was a bellhop named Matt. Always had a smile and was so sweet.
Everything! It was under construction and no one told us. There was no lobby or area to be at when you are not in the room. The continental breakfast was serve in a room on folding tables. Staff was not very good. We had 4 people in our room and everyday had to ask for a 4th towel since they only gave us 3. Wifi didn't reach our room and they still charged us. Box springs were so bad under the mattress when you shifted you weight is squeaked so loud it woke the entire room. The mattress had a plastic pad on it which made you sweat through the night. Do not stay here!
