I liked that our room was walking distance from downtown Jamestown.
Smelly, musty smell.
We stayed in a cottage which was very private with great facilities (may be outdated for some)
The porch upstairs at the front of the building where I could sit and relax was great. The staff were all very friendly. I had a very pleasant stay and would happily stay there again.
Quiet location, friendly staff, easy check-in.
Very out-dated (had expected an original feel to it but more like run-down disney version of an old town inn). Room rate included breakfast - which consisted of a slice of horrible toast - misleading and therefore not actually worth the money.
Friendly and helpful staff, nice localisation. Apartment was cleaned very often. ViFi could be reached in each corner of the room.
Breakfast made from toast bread and grape jelly (everyday) is not a breakfast. For sure it was not enough for my husband. At least wider selection of things for toasts should be offered. I hate grape jelly after this stay - only this (+ corn flakes) was offered everyday!.
Character place with charm of wild and western gold mining town
A nice, clean hotel. You have to share a bathroom but do not be afraid of that. The bathroom is nice, big and definitely clean. There are fridge and microwave oven on the room. Our room was quite cute one. We would definitely recommend this hotel.
everything was just fine
We received a very warm welcome and reception was helpful in every way eg recommending where we could go for an evening meal. We enjoyed the historical aspect of the Inn. I'm pleased that apart from updating bathroom facilities, little has changed since the gold rush days.
The ancient feel.
The hotel is run down, the room was not that clean, found black hair in towels (I am blond). The bed was squeaking if you moved evan for an inch and the AC is blowing directly on your head the whole time (you can not adjust it).The breakfast is really not worth mentioning. You still have an hour drive to Yosemitte, but for us it was ok.
Reasonably priced, great location right in town, parking easy, staff nice, bed comfortable, nice balcony and swing for relaxing.
NO ICE MACHINE!! Wallpaper was very dark, difficult to open drapes to get any light, bathrm very tiny, continental breakfast minimal at best (toast, cereal, coffee, milk--that's about it!). TV remote would not work, but staff replaced it.
Lovely period building. Swing seats on the verandah for evening glass of wine
Wonky toilet seat. Sky light let in light once morning arrived
Position, balcony room upstairs, antique shops,
Room curtains, lack of maintainance on exterior of building, and room furniture
Clean room, nice bed linens, very quiet.
Carpet was a little dirty, air conditioner was running very cold and there was no thermostat in the room.
The gentleman was very kind, helpful and changed our room because we had made a reservation for 5 people, but were given two double rooms which would sleep only four people. After changing some things with his bookings he very kindly gave a suitable room for the children.
The breakfast was very basic. The old woman who worked there just glared over her glasses at me when I said there were not enough beds for our family. She told me to bring a crib if I need an extra bed. Cold as ice. I am from the UK on holiday, my youngest child is 9. Really not practical or even slightly helpful to be told to bring your own crib with you. Zero for customer service. She let herself, her business and her son down.
hotel wa very helpful&freindly
there was nothing not to like
Loud AC you can not put off.
Perfect for touring historic hw 49.just off the road so quiet. The townitself is brilliant .the hotel keeps its westrn theme but manages to add all mod cons.very comfy beds.lovely garden with swinging bench tto it out.the price is excellent for what you get which includes lite breakfast.good steak housea block down
We wanted to go to Yosemite, last minute, in August...so we had to stay as close to the park as we could. This was an amazing surprize, and exploring Jamestown turned out to be as fun as anything else on the whole trip. Basically, the price is amazing for the quality of the room and service.
We stayed only one night and were expecting bare bones accommodations. We were pleased that the clerk waited up for us (11pm arrival) and that the room was small but equipped with a small fridge, coffee maker, microwave and other niceties typically found in higher end places. We were also expecting a shared bath but got a private one. The breakfast was nothing special,,,
No view from the room. Just a skylight.
Staying at the Royal Carriage was a singular experience. Sitting on the veranda in the warm summer night, we felt the spirit of the town; the ghosts of miners, seekers, gamblers, lovers. Rock a chair above the ambling promenade and you too will feel the rush.
Well, I discussed this with my companion, and the one thing that would really make this one of the best hotel experiences I have ever had would be...the inclusion of orange juice in the continental breakfast. I entreat those who with power to enact this change, please consider this request.
This hotel was not "quaint" it is just old, slightly musty and worse for wear. We had to be moved because of a clogged up and over flowing toilet. Ok, normally no biggie.... However the next room (208) wasn't any better. The bed was horribly hard and the shower was very small... so small 1 person barely fit. Oh... by the way don't flush the toilet with someone in the shower or you will get scalded. Because the bed was so hard we slept very little and woke up hurting. When i checked with the front desk for other availability I was advised they were completely booked( no surprise it was a holiday weekend) so I asked for additional feather comforters to use as a mattress top only to be told they only have 1 blanket per room, really only one blanket per room... i guess their not much into guest comfort? While we could have suffered with the shower we couldn't spend another night sleeping in that bed so we checked out 23 hours after checking in and drove home cutting our trip short. Not sure how this hotel has such a high recommendation. Makes one wonder if they aren't writing their own reviews.
The inn was relaxing, very clean, very friendly staff, walking distance to a variety of businesses nice porch with fans to people watch nice beds TVs etc. you need to factor in that it is an historical hotel but the rooms were very updated
The bathrooms were quite small but very clean
We were able to walk to all the antique stores and also buy groceries from a little general store with a meat dept. right there on Main St. The room was nice with kitchen. Outdoor courtyard area with fountain & iron gazebo was nice place to sit & relax. The main house was like time traveling like historically charming!
Ants! We were in a room next to a rock retaining wall and it being so dry the ants were looking for water. They were on the toilet and kitchen. I also would have preferred a more comfortable bed and richer bed linens. But I am in my 50's with lower back aches.
Jamestown is a great little town with a lot of interesting antique stores. The Royal Carriage is conveniently located right in the middle of town and offers very nice, clean, updated rooms with plenty of space and comfort.
The free breakfast was basically a loaf of sliced bread and a few packets of instant oatmeal. One look and we passed.
