Score from 69 reviews Very good
Built in 1926, this Dupont Circle boutique hotel overlooks Rock Creek Park. It is a 10-minute walk from both the Woodley Park-Zoo metro station and the Dupont Circle metro station.
Score from 625 reviews Good
Standing more than a century in Washington, D.C., this beautiful hotel is just a 7-minute walk from the Dupont Circle Metro Station. An on-site restaurant with Starbucks coffee is available.
Score from 511 reviews Excellent
Only a few blocks from the United States Capitol, and in the historic neighborhood of Capitol Hill, this hotel has spacious all-suite accommodations along with a free continental breakfast.
Score from 495 reviews Very good
Charming character house in convenient location to great restaurants and sites.
Breakfasts were mediocre.
The staff were very friendly and the breakfast service was great!
The combination of a bed and breakfast that charges upper market prices however part of the decor and the way the place was run felt like a student hall of residence!!!
We enjoyed our stay. There were a lot of steps up to our room which could be a challenge with heavy suitcases but otherwise OK. Good variety to restaurants and cafés close by. A substantial very tasty breakfast provided.
How clean the bathrooms were
The tiles by the fire place needs to be repaired.
It was wonderful being in Adams Morgan in a residential area rather than in the center of town. Charming characterful place with friendly staff and good breakfasts.
Not a problem for us, but wouldn't be ideal for travelers with difficulty using stairs.
everything but the parking
the room is nice, the staff is really helpful.
a bit far from the metro.
Friendly, liked the traditional decor, nice breakfast, wished I could have taken longer over it; and possibility to make an early morning (very) cup of tea.
It was fine this trip but normally I would need a "full service" hotel. But if I come again as a tourist I would come to you.
Great breakfast and good location close to subway.
A bit noisy due to creaking floors and thin walls.
Dupont Circle area very lively .... good restaurants .... safe walking .... American Guest House is charming, clean, good beds, .....
Breakfast was very good. Mattress comfortable. Staff very helpful and accomidating. Location very good. Quaint but very nice decor. We'd stay there again when we return to DC
Such a nice change from the typical hotel room--a lovely antique house turned into comfortable lodging where guests enjoy a hot breakfast around the table with the other travelers. Gracious hosts and a comfortable atmosphere.
Excellent Homely accommodation with friendly staff. Good breakfasts and coffee/tea selection 24hrs. Brilliant location with metro bus stop just outside. Great to meet other guests in the breakfast room with fresh food fom the chef.
Staff was friendly and accommodating. It was clean, quiet and had a unique old charm that you can't find in a modern hotel.
I could not get WiFi in my room for the 5 days I stayed. I complained 3 of the days and then gave up. Excellent breakfast and staff. Very comfortable beds.
The stairs are a bit scary to go up and down and make a lot of noise.
Room was comfortable, breakfast was excellent. Lots of good restaurants within walking distance.
Could not get on the WI-Fi. I could have asked for help, but didn't bother. About a 10 minute uphill walk from the metro. Not bad once you make the trip, but the first time you feel a bit nervous.
Friendly and comfortable in a character filled house. A good cooked breakfast on a communal table that allows you to get to know the other guests.
Unless you are a keen walker then you need transport to the sights. The Metro is 10mins walk and buses are nearby. Being an old house the noise of other guests (creaking floors, plumbing) might disturb some folks.
Warm greeting and delicious breakfast from host Lisa. Beautiful old house.
The paint choices in my room were not right for the period of the house, which was a shame because the other areas were perfect.
The location was great for getting anywhere on public transport and it was also well placed for good quality eateries at Du Pont Circle. Buses ran from outside the door in both directions. The manager, Lisa was a lovely friendly person who also put on first rate breakfasts. We had waffles one morning, yummy omelettes another, and bacon and eggs on another. On our last day Lisa asked what we would like, I said waffles and my husband said bacon and eggs and she made them specially for us. Each day there was fresh fruits a choice of continental breakfasts, fresh juices and freshly baked yummy muffins. The room was clean and tidy with a nice outlook over the street. The ensuite was of good quality, good toilet and strong pressure in the shower with appearing to have been recently renovated. Lisa was always willing to assist with directions and hailing our taxi when we left. We had the best stay so far in the US at this B&B, in no small part due to Lisa's friendliness.
The only thing that let this B&B down was the wifi. We were on the top floor and the wifi (there were two wifi routers) for the higher rooms didn't work at all so I had to connect to the lower floors wifi and either work on the floor of our room or go down to the either the dining or sitting rooms to utilise it. If you are infirm you would be best to ask for a room on one of the lower floors. We had big bags which we had to carry to the top floor but having said that I had no problem with the exercise. Since this is a vintage residence there are no lifts but you wouldn't expect them either in a building from the 1800s.
The breakfast is woundful.
The room is small.
Lovely clean room, beautiful decor, great to have iron, hairdryer and shampoo laid on.
Hot water in the shower was very slow to come on on the top floor, and sometimes cut out. No elevator so not good for heavy luggage.
location, staff, history in the building, cleanliness
comfort of bed
