The Comfort Inn Santa Cruz hotel is conveniently located where Highway 1 and Highway 17 meet.
Score from 131 reviews Very good
Nice inexpensive hotel. Close enough to walk to downtown---a bit farther to the beaches.
Motel can be noisy
Central location and across from Lucios - a great Italian restaurant.
They are very rigid when giving out rooms through booking.com. I have stayed there before and can usually get a downstairs room. They don't have elevators. I have a knee implant and a torn meniscus in the other and by doctor's orders need to avoid stairs. They said they didn't have a room available downstairs but I was checking in early at 1:00 so they could have accommodated me.
Highly recommend The Islander.
Location is great; close to downtown, but not right in the thick of the action. Rooms are clean and relatively quiet--not a lot of street noise, considering that the property is on a main thoroughfare. A good value for a quick trip.
We've stayed here twice and both times were unable to connect to the "free WiFi". The staff happily gave us the password, my computer recognized it, but the connection never worked. Kind of frustrating.
Very basic but very clean. Bathroom and tub very clean. Great WiFi connection. Very nice staff. Comfortable bed. Has a pool, though we didn't use it. Near the great Santa Cruz Diner. Not far from the Boardwalk. Good value.
No microwave or fridge or coffee-maker. Need to use room key to get ice from the machine, which I found odd. I would recommend it to people who don't mind very basics.
Clean room and grounds, good housekeeping
A bit far from beach and downtown. No breakfast
Pretty basic but good value for money, clean & comfortable.
Nice price for Santa Cruz in summer. Clean room. The lady at the front desk was very nice (wish I could say the same about her husband).
20 minute walk to boardwalk. Pool is smaller than it looks on the picture.
The room was clean and comfortable. The staff were very friendly and helpful.
The parking was tight. It was difficult getting bags out of the car and back in. Passenger door against wall unable to open to get out.
The owners were sooooo nice and helpful!! Only 22 rooms so very quiet and low key!! Easy parking!! Would definitely stay here again!!!
Parking lot is small, not every room has fridge and microwave.Room is small and dark
The staff was friendly and very helpful. The mattresses were wonderful. Never slept better.
The carpets need to be cleaned and I wish there were more choices at the morning breakfast. Some protein would have been nice
Accomodations are modest but perfectly adequate to enjoy a summer weekend in Santa Cruz at an economical rate. The managers/owners were very nice as well. The kids enjoyed the heated pool after a long day on the Boardwalk. Let's face it, you're out most of the time enjoying the Boardwalk and beach so why pay high summer time rates?! The 2-room "suites" (there is no living room) worked just fine for family/kids.
Street parking because the lot is small and fills up by evening.
Beach about half an hours walk if you don't want to park and pay at the boardwalk
Staff was rude and unhelpful. Shot me the dirtiest of looks whenever I came across them
5 minute walk to downtown Santa Cruz, and 10-15 minute walk to the boardwalk. Pool, walking distance to a Wholefoods, good wifi, cable TV.
Bedding was a bit grubby, I didn't like the old, itchy looking blanket that was on it. Breakfast was average, very little options, we walked to Wholefoods instead!
Location was ok
Rio was a shoe box, bed was like sleeping on a slab of granite and it was unbelievably noisy!
It was close to UCSC.
The water knob came off when we first used the shower. The toilet wasn't securely fastened down to the floor, so we made more noise using it, when we sat down.
Pool was warm, it was clean....
2 rooms in one & 2 TVs works great with a family
Wish the bathroom was larger & needs 2 ac units
It was cheap and fairly close to the boardwalk.
Employees were rude. Breakfast was barely anything. The bathroom was dirty and disgusting. Walls were paper thin, could hear everything. Room was tiny.
We only stayed one night. Got there late, staff was friendly and we slept well. Location close to everything.
Parking. The parking lot was rather small but the manager was very helpful finding us a spot to park in.
Bad parking. Dirty chairs. Dirty carpets. Bad Coffee and warm milk.
Ice machine and fridge Close to board walk
There was some stinky towel in the toilet's tank . Started to smell terrible when we showered . Must of been a reason, but staff never explained . However, the toilet did flush well.
The free breakfast was an unexpected treat and was really nice. The hotel is about a 15 minute walk from the Boardwalk which we didn't mind but may be too far for some people. The room was clean and the area was quiet. It was a pleasant two-night stay and would recommend this place to others.
Don't come for the swimming pool - it's tiny, right by the road and appears to be in the shade all day!
