Central location Quality and size of suite. City views
There was a large crack in the desk. We were suprised the it had not been fixed. The restaurant did not have many offerings.
15th floor windows were so high you had to tip toe to see out. Had to pull shades at night to block lights shinning in on about 10 small windows. (STRANGE) No ice buckets in room (had to ask for ice) No coffee maker in room. Bed was very low to floor.
The location was great! We walked everywhere. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. The hotel was very modern and chic and we really enjoyed our stay.
Large room very clean and comfortable
No way to make coffee and tea. You almost had to be an athlete to get into the bath tub.
Location, beautiful interior - recently refurbished
Breakfast, but that was not a problem as we had a short walk to the market with plenty of options
Location Cleanness Staff Wi-Fi
Noisy neighborhood A bit expensive
Didn't feel like a hotel. No food in room service. Looked way too stark.
location, bedding, view, room, high ceilings
nothing included - parking, newspaper, coffee, breakfast
Loved the suite. It was truly magnificient and one of the best hotel 'rooms' we have ever stayed in during our travels to far-flung places and countries! It was large, historic, enormous and many windows, a very, very high ceiling and marble fireplace. The decor was stunning - minimalist, soothing and, in a word, gorgeous! I liked it (a little) better than our NYC penthouse apartment! The bed was comfy and the views terrific, as was the location. No, I don't work for the hotel or know anyone who does!
The doorman was not particularly attentive; he was very sweet, but he seldomed opened the door for us and it was hard to know who was the doorman and who were the people he was socializing with on the street. Once we opened the heavy door (not revolving) ourselves, sometimes with packages, he/they would remember it was their job and jump in to help. A little more disappointing was the lack of knowledge among the front desk staff. One of them knew a lot more than the others but he wasn't always on shift when we planned our day. Finally, breakfast should be INCLUDED in the price. The price to stay at Ames Hotel is not cheap by any means, and the breakfast - continental and quite nice, but nothing warm or cooked except the coffee - should be part of the overall cost.
Staff were knowledgeable and helpful. Location was very central.
Location, quirky design that works, friendly staff. Everything was perfect.
Great staff, best location, central for walking T right there,
Rooms are spacious, clean, modern and very comfortable. Excellent location. Overall good experience.
The staff was fantastic! All of the concierge's recommendations were spot on! Very professional and a top notch establishment!
Lots of street noise, sirens mainly.
I loved the convenience of this hotel. located so close to Fanuel Hall and across the street from the subway. This history and restoration/preservation of this hotel were also big factors in our decision to stay there. When we had any questions or needs, the staff was very quick to help satisfy them.
I arrived mid-afternoon, after travelling since 5am, without stopping for breakfast or lunch. I didn't realize that room service was offered only after 5pm. There was not a coffee pot, or coffee service available, either. However, the staff did offer to send a Keurig with all provisions needed to make lovely coffee in our room, and continued to keep it stocked with coffee, cream and sugar during the remainder of our week.
Pretty fixtures and decor, central location and nice amenities, good breakfast
LOUD! Street noise, sirens, the windows are not double paned, LOUD inside the hotel, very thin walls and you can hear everything, I mean everything, going on in the adjacent rooms. The staff is too cool to help you with the doors or your luggage.
At the rates Ames charges, not having the room refreshed...or having to ask for same at 17:30 is unacceptable.
Location was great
Impossible to sleep with all the noise outside
Well maintained, respectable building in Heart of Boston....... Big rooms, clean rooms
Empty Restaurant space on mezz/first floor, with unobstructive views of Historical Boston...........Why is this not being used
Location, felt safe, I would definitely come back....The young man in charge of breakfast, I think his name was Xavier? and the hostess were so extremely nice and helpful to us. The housekeeping staff met every need and very friendly as well. The hotel truly was central to most anything worth seeing. I recommend Fannuiel Hall Marketplace, Au Bon Pain (great pastries, soups etc.) afternoon tea at the Taj, and definitely a stroll through Boston Common Park.
the floors in our room seemed dirty, but that was fixable!
Within walking distance to many attractions like the aquarium and Quincy Market.
Bathroom and shower
Breakfast was pitiful
No pool or hot tub
Location, staff, overall room, ease to Fanueil Hall, views. Overall beautiful hotel.
Mini fridge was broken and needed to be replaced, shade was broken so didn't sleep full night first night, wand in shower was broken. It was annoying for the money spent to have those things happen. However the staff was attentive and saw to it the items were fixed as quickly as possible.
