Score from 111 reviews Very good
Shady characters hanging around; antiquated rooms; street noise; loud TV's; room smelled like a cigar bar. And they forgot the "free" breakfast. What's not to like for $150?
The bathroom was still dirty when we checked in. The towels were thin and ratty and the room had a gross smell.
The location, a five minute walk to the Bayside stop of the Long Island Railroad, is great. Half an hour from midtown Manhattan and the trains run often, 7 days a week.
Decor is dreary. Too much brown and beige without any accent colors. Even an occasional shiny picture frame would help. Breakfast room is dreary.
The place is great. The breakfast is great. The staff is very nice.
The couch in my room was dirty.
location to our activities in Bayside Queens. Friendly staff. Starbucks across the street.
dirty furniture specifically the couch and desk chair in the room. The HVAC was dirty and not operating properly, open window utilized
Heater didn't work. Also, they charged me for a extra bed that I never used. I booked the hotel online and when I left the hotel it was a different amount from what I was quoted.
The staff was nice, coffee was good.
Pillows were not good, and parking was tight (but it was free)
The location is fair.
Rooms are dirty, cramped, and smell of stale smoke and a general lack of cleanliness. The parking is difficult at best.
It was close to the location we were visiting.
advertised service from 7-1000am. I arrived at 830am with no waffle batter, just the powdered mix on the counter. No bagels, they were frozen and in a freezer which I probably should not have gone into.
-the "non smoking room" smelled like smoke to accompany the cigarette burns in the curtains. -very little parking, could not find a place to park on the second night , drove around for almost half an hour
Some of the staff were great,
Some of the staff were both lazy and did not seem to care, breakfast was hit and miss every day, stale smoke smell on second floor, not value for money.
Possibly the most comfortable bed we have experienced over many years of travel. Staff very helpful. All our expectations for our first New York stay were met and we are so glad we chose the Anchor Inn for the US Open and visiting Manhattan.
We have a son at the Merchant Marine Academy. The hotel was equally distant from LGA and the Academy. Plenty of places to eat nearby, and becauae of its central location easy to get around and sightsee.
The rooms were a bit smaller than we were used too, but that was a function of how late we booked our trip. Also like any other hotel they raised their prices for this specific weekend (so did the other nearby hotels)
1. Parking availability - indoor and outdoor both were available very conveniently. 2. Room maids were 3. Location of hotel was very good. I ddidn't want to stay in downtown Flushing. So it was good for people like me and there were not many hotels in Bayside, Queens area.
1. No greeting at front desk at all, I have never heard; good morning, may I help you, or any other greeting and I can simply say they are all have stone face, unprofessional and made guest feel just unhappy to see people like them. 2. Room was very smelly, especially in bathroom area. I had window left open and bathroom fan turned on all day from morning to night. That helped smelly situation eased and better little bit.
WiFi connection. Car parking facilities.
Bathroom (Needs updating, tiles were mouldy/grimy) Noisy air conditioning unit.
It's practical and convenient.
I have no complaints
We stayed at the hotel in connection with a visit to the US Open tennis games. There was a two block walk to the railway station with trains taking us directly to the tennis grounds.
very nice room convenient location...within walking distance to restaurants and railroad to NYC on site parking enjoyed fitness room nice breakfast and breakfast room
The staff was not accomodating. They were not helpful with our concerns and did not seem to care.
Had a king size room, which was quiet, clean and nicely furnished. Many eateries on nearby Bell Blvd. Pleasant residential neighborhood. Hair dryer was broken, but was replaced immediately when I told the front desk clerk.
Room rather dark and pillows a bit lumpy. Breakfast ok Saturday and Sunday, but they ran out of most food on Monday when there was no one except single desk clerk to inadequately replenish supplies. LIRR about a 10-minute walk and runs every 1/2 hour 24/7 and takes 1/2 hour to Penn Station. Cost is much higher than for subway/bus. Can take bus to Flushing and then subway, but takes much longer.
It looks like the cleaning was neglected for very long time..
Nice lobby, friendly man behind counter. Location and parking appreciated.
Key could not open assigned studio, walked all the way back for second key, also did not work. Employee found that door was broken. Studio itself had awkward arrangement, furnished haphazardly. TV had distorted picture. Called for blanket, were told there was no blanket available (?). Party with loud boom-boom music next door, finally complained at 1 pm, then boom-boom was stopped, but party continued. Did not have restful sleep.
the cleanliness the stationary bike
It is not an attractive hotel. It has no charm. The breakfast is free, but I couldn't drink the coffee.
