Ideal location Staff very friendly and helpful Breakfast was nice and fresh
Bedroom was cramped
The staff were excellent better still as was FINO (the Italian restaurant attached to hotel). The continuous tea and coffee, buffet breakfast on each floor and happy hour in the evening all added to nice ambience. The location close to the Union Square tourist scene was also good and well away from the awful (unsafe) areas closer towards Market.
The hotel is getting tired and too pricey for what you might except to get elsewhere.....but that's the SF hotel market for you.
the restaurant- the ambience of the hotel, and the friendliness of the guests.
No black tea in tea caddy. I should have asked for some but didn't.
Location was very good. Fino's restaurant next door was excellent, especially Justin, and the complimentary wine each night was lovely. Free upgraded wifi was excellent. Staff were very helpful.
Room was very small, dated furniture.
The hotel is well located in the hotel district in San Francisco. Wi-fi works very well and staff was helpful. The things i didn't like are more related to SF than to the place itself
Room is small, there's a valet to park your car but it's quite expensive (this is not the hotel's fault as parking in SF is always very expensive) and the area is somehow shady at night.
Great place in the fabulous location very comfortable. It is surrounded by restaurants and attractions and can't be beat. Although the price has tripled in the last 10 years it's still a great destination.
While it is convenient that the rooms have refrigerators the refrigerators are very old and make lots of noise during the night. They should be replaced.
Very close to Union Square; clean; spacious Loved the single carnation on our last day - nice tradition
location, staff, proximity, style
a little bit old, with some light cords breaking occasionally, but were fixed promptly
The staff is friendly and knowledgeable. The Hotel is a quaint little historical building. (Reminds me of the Hotels in Paris)The room was just the right size for two. We got a room that had bay windows facing Post street with a queen bed. The bed was comfortable and the bathroom had all the products you need plus a hair dryer. We will be staying at the Andrews next time we come to town.
Friendly and helpful front desk; free breakfast in the hall; free wine in the evening; great location
Our room could have used a night table.
The hotel has a great location for central San Francisco. Clean but in need of a revamp.
Needs a revamp due to the age. Clean but noisy! Struggled to sleep most nights.
Good continental breakfast at our door, comfortable bed, excellent staff
I did enjoy the one night stay. The breakfast in the morning was good and I had no issues with my room. The parking seemed to be cheper with the place right behind the hotel. Didn't have a chance to visit the restaurant attached. But location is ideal.
Location Breakfast included
I liked the coziness of the room. The staff was very helpful, always pleasant.
The bathroom could have been a bit larger.
TV to small, to cramp and no AC, breakfast is boring, noisy as the window is open, the old man who works on the night shift doesn't acknowledge or greet guest he is to busy chatting on phone with his friend, he is not helpful when I was carrying load I stuff. At least he could open the door of the lift which is next to him, like what I've mentioned earlier he spend to much time chatting with his friend on the phone. Not sure would go back and recommend to friends
Location is good but if you have a car you can stay outside of union square.
Rooms are very very small ! Furnitures are very very old, bed is not comfortable. There is just one window which looks ventilation hole. no sunlight in the room. Breakfast is very bad, they just put some staff at the corridor.
The building itself is very nice, with an "English countryside" style. Position very good, close to Union Square and the cable car that takes you to Fisherman's Wharf; nice area in town. Room comfortable, quite a good size considering that it's in San Francisco. Bathroom clean and well sized. There was also a wardrobe in the room which was very helpful. Staff very nice. Breakfast was OK; then only thing I would outline is the fact that it's served in the hallway of each floor and you have to help yourself and bring the food in your room or eat in the hallway. Breakfast was consisiting of fresh fruits, coffee, tea, orange juice, cakes/cookies, fresh bread and jam. We would come back for sure.
Our room (305) was facing the side of the next building so we didn't have a nice view and no air coming from the outside; no A/C in the room but a fan was enough. The price is a bit high but we must consider that we are in San Francisco and the location is very very good, so that's a fair compromise.
location. surprisingly good Italian resto, receptionist on during the early morning (very pleasant, helpful and efficient. Good job!)
needs an upgrade. Shower very small. Room not big. Took 2 days to get more shampoo and 4 days to get a bath mat. Not great value of money but The City is expensive.
Good location and staff. Held my bags before check in.
Very small rooms and very loud all night
perfect location just in the heart of san Francisco. It is an old fashion hotel with its special charm, but renovated. I liked a complimantery breakfast served on each floor, so you can take it to your room. Very good restaurant downstair
Rooms are not big
very good location close to Union Square, historic building, clean room, nice staff
Good position close to Union square. Availability of staff. You have hot water and tea filter, fresh water and ice at the lobby.
Assigned room was really too small with a mini bathroom (with a broken little window impossible to close). Fortunately after the first nigth we asked to change room and we had a better one for the next two nigths. There is only one elevator, used by service staff (moving cleaning trolley and trash can) and by guests. Cold breakfast is served on a buffet, on each floor, you have to collect your stuff and bring it inside your room.
People shouting all night in a parking lot next to my room. Highly overprized. WiFi was not working properly.
