Location, style, friendly staff
That we have stayed there many times says it all. Great hotel/location/staff/FINO restaurant
We had to come home.
Nice to have something for breakfast there, but it's not easy to eat it as well (in a room with no table).
Walking distance to the Curran Theater, great value for the location and connected to an ace Italian restaurant (Fino's) -- how can you beat that? With one exception, the staff was excellent -- very helpful and friendly. TV in the parlor & bedroom are a plus. These things more than make up for everything else.
They advertise their suite as spacious -- when indeed, the 'parlor' was tiny. The bedroom was ok, tho side tables would have been nice along with larger TV screens. Would also be nice to have ice machines on each floor versus having to go to the basement.
Location for shoppers
-Small bed for 2 persons -Dirty carpets -price/quality -staff service attitude, We had no problems with the attitude, but the front desk gentlemen seemed arrogant in our eyes. -noisy corridor early in the morning
Location,simple breakfast and soap.
Elevator and furniture.
Coffee/tee/water always available at the frontdesk. Personnel super friendly and helpful.
Bed was a bit soft
Helpful staff in arranging tours. Proximity to good restaurant, Fino's. Good bathroom with hand hold railings.
No ground floor toilet. No half day bookings when waiting for a late flight.
Location was good.
Bed was creaky and very old. Room was very small and pokey. Shower hot water only got Luke warm. Room would get very warm through the day and no AC. No fridge either.
The staff were very attentive. I had requested a nice room. We were upgraded to the petite suite. It had a sitting room between bathroom and bedroom. The sitting room had a small refrigerator with bottled water. Very nice. A white carnation met us on Saturday. Breakfast coffee, rolls and orange juice just outside the room.
A small and slow old elevator. It did add some ambiance to the europian feel of the hotel. A great stay. We will stay here again.
Good location - 1.5 blocks form union square; clean; good breakfast; good internet
A bit dated in every way
I liked the European feel of the hotel and the continental breakfast. I didn't have a chance to join in for the guest wine from 5-6 but I enjoyed a gourmet pizza one evening and it was delicious.
Friendly staff. Quaint hotel. Charming San Francisco Victorian style. Good location. Convenient. Great bed.
Small room. Small shower. Cramped bathroom. Very basic breakfast.
Location is adequate Staff is friendly Breakfast is free Cost is fine for a San Francisco hotel WIFI is free Reasonably quite room
Not really suitable for business travel Hotel is old and it shows Rooms are small elevator is old... Shower is difficult to maneuver
Deception of bed arrangements. Booked room for 3 adults, booking accepted, no mention of second bed being a roll away which in this case had a rotting blanket on it. The main bed was faultless. I would not have booked room if I had known it was going to be a camp bed and the room was too small for it.
very good location, clean hotel. perfect for access to shopping and restaurants. also easy access to BART, 10 mins walk.
A bit high on the price but then again so is everything else in that location
The hotel has wonderful architectural features. The elevator is close to a ride back in time.
i would have liked a bathtub.
nice hotel friendly staff good location/area
light buffet breakfast in the corridor small room no view (well, not a pretty one) a bit pricy, expected more for what we paid.
Woke up because of the noise of the breakfast buffet on the floor that was just before my bedroon's door.
The location of the hotel and the very functional self service breakfast set-up located in the corridor of each floor. Also the pre 1906 original old lift.
Lack of any view and the difficulty in opening the old windows. Room 306 was very hot. Wall behind the bed obviously had some hot water pipes in it as it was continually warm.
Shower/bathroom VERY small Noisy
Location. Italian restaurant adjoining.
Room too small. Pricing ridiculous. How can the same room have a $110 difference in price over a two day period. Supply and demand I am told. Crazy. Surely cereal could be provided at Breakfast. Most certainly would not return.
The Old World European experience. Breakfast on each floor and the complimentary wine early evening.
The cost which was exorbitant for the time of the year, busy week and room rates were double the normal price.
The hotel is charming, he staff very hospitable and the history of the hotel very interesting.
I would have appreciated a heads-up that my original deposit would appear on my bank account when I returned home. I am used to having that removed when I pay the final amount at check out time.
