Friendly and helpful staff Cleanliness Location Free tea/coffee Good Price
28 beds in one room Wi-fi in room was poor (worked perfectly in lobby)
Very sociable atmosphere, in a prime location, safe very helpful, saw lots of things of the beaten track because of their recommendations! Kitchen looks like something from a TV cooking show! Organised evening event also greatvfrom solo travellers to make friends. The hostel in one of the reasons philadelphia is my favourite US city!
Unfortunately the bed I selected was right by the air con unit making for noisey nights sleep, next time I would just puck one in a better location
It's in the center of the city, really close to the touristic attractions and the megabus stop. I like the fact that it's surrounded by many places to eat or drink.
They should serve breakfast everyday, not just during the weekend. It's a bit overpriced considering the fact that the building is pretty old and they didn't make any kind of serious renovation.
The bed's were extremely comfortable. The staff we're helpful and gave good advice on what to do. The room's were clean and well kept; the bathrooms we're spacious and clean. Facilities were excellent, both bathroom and kitchen.
Very nice position in the Old Town, nice activities in the evening to meet other people. The hostel is not too small or too big, and has everything a traveller need.
The male room has a huge number of beds, above 25 (though was quite spacious, and I did not have any real problem in sleeping).
They organise 'events' and socials so the solo travelers can hang out together! We went to a ghost tour with a staff of the hostel and then we had a free beer! So friendly environment highly recommended!
The only cons is that there is no elevator.
Cleanliness, very courtious staff, noiseless dorms, enough lockers for storage of personal items.
1-Upper bunks are very low that I couldn't sit straight on my lower bed. 2- There should be some fresh air ventilation in the dorm room in day time when no one is in the dorm.
location, wifi, staff
in extreme cases, 20 people in a men dorm.
bathroom is very clean.
i live in the room on level 4 but there is no elevetor. So i spent quite a lot of time move my huge luggage upstairs. there are totally 28 beds in the huge room. It was quiet and i think it is even better than the normal small room i lived in other hostels because everyone got large space. we have to collect sheets And make bed by ourselves.
The hospitality was great! Outings and meals were planned and were an option for us. The staff were friendly and very helpful. Would highly recommend this as a place to stay!!
comfortbale dining area with background music movie nights with free beer free breakfast cereal on weekends
not enough windows, sunlight
Staff were great and really informative. Felt completely safe and it was my first time in a hostel. In a really good location and everyone staying there was really nice!
The staff was super friendly, always offering help, and the check in and check out was a breeze. The place has a nice feel, and almost everybody that stays there will be open for conversations. The location is also good. You have a metro station very closeby, and many places to eat and/or drink.
The food inside the hotel. There was a free pasta night, and nobody liked it. But you would have to be dumb to expect something good for free and in a hostel.
Staff was unwilling to listen and dull.
decor/furnitures/color : it match perfectly with the spirit and the name of the hotel ! soccer world cup was on the screen for each game !!!! organisation of the kitchen is practical even if it was the first time, it was easy to find all I needed !
Not enough table and chairs in the kitchen.
Absolutely perfect location: hostel is located really close to historical sights, bus and subway stops and several restaurant, cafes and bars. It's clean and safe, the combination for opening the doors changes every night. Front desk staff is mostly nice and helpful, one of them gave me good suggestions about using PHLASH buses, really cheap way for moving in Philly. The hostel organizes also every night different group activity (pub crawl, wine & cheese movie night, free pasta dinner). Free computers, nice common room with couches, a big tv, a free foosball table. Kitchen is well equipped and clean. In the dorm each bed is fully furnished with its onw light, two power plugs and little sack where to put personal stuffs. Outside the room there are lockers (remember to bring your padlock, as usual in hostels, or you can buy one at front desk) and some of them with power as well, so you can charge your devices while they are inside the locker! Towels are included and free earplugs provided.
There is no elevator (and there are several floors!) and the staircase are very, very narrow. The dorms are rather large (in female dorm there are 14 bunk beds, so 28 persons) but it was manageable. The bathroom in room includes only 3 toilet stall and 4 showers, and the shower heads are really terrible. Wifi is weak when a lot of people is logged in. No breakfast included (free milk and cereals only on weekends), but free coffe 24h. Overall, considering the cheap price and all the positive things, it's very good value for money and I recommend it.
good location awsome activities friendly stuff very clean and a lot of free stuff
People in the hostel are all very nice and helpful! I usually don't plan much about the visit, and they just suggested a lot of nice places for me to travel around Philly. That's a great trip.
Hostel is located close to historical sights and tour buses, and the public transit stations with destinations to airport are also nearby. Building appears to be an older structure that fits with general brick-style historical buildings. Extra offerings include a weekly ghost tour led by staff that was less gore and shock and more historically interesting.
Many, many beds are packed in dormitory rooms such that concerns of a fire hazard had to be mentally suppressed. However, it appeared that each bed was outfitted with an outlet to charge electrics. Bathroom is located in room and includes 3 toilet stalls and 4 showers. I tried to shower at night to avoid what appeared to be a morning crush. Staff was mostly personable and efficient. However, one late night staff was not present at desk when I arrived for check-in and no sign was present to indicate if, or when, staff would return. Approximately 15 minutes later, staff wondered in with a meal. No apology or explanation, just an "Oh, are you checking in?" Also, general area, while very close to historical attractions, is fairly inconsistent in appearance and vibe. Hostel entrance is located in small alley street, and numerous characters wondered around such as the guy "just looking for a cigarette" on the street. A large pile of horse manure was observed nearby for hours on two different times, presumably from the horse-drawn carriages. Many of the buildings on the same street appeared closed or vacant. However, on the larger streets around the hostel, quite a few cafes and bars appear lively at night and have sidewalk dining.
Super friendly, helpful staff. It was sooooooo clean! Their amenities were "thoughtful" eg. Basket near bed to put things in, maps, hair dryer, kitchen amenities. Good location. Safe. Clean, well stocked kitchen and laundry. Good entertainment facilities
Very friendly staff. The hostel has every night different group activity like pub crawl, free dinner etc. It is located near downtown n the local metro link is close by, so most of the tourist location is at a walking distance.
Everything was pretty good. Bed was smaller than I thought.
service, friendly and enviroment
I felt secure with the lock combination changes every night
