Location excellent, right next to Ghirardelli Square and the Hyde Street Cable Car turnabout. Rooms extremely tastefully designed with plenty of space. Very convenient and easy to find, door staff helpful and rate not outrageous considering it was Fleet Week. Bed seemed very small, "second floor" room actually looked out onto the street due to the slope of the hills around the building which was not great for privacy. Bathroom small and not particularly luxurious for a hotel at this price range. "Boutique" experience rather limited, unsurprising considering how large the hotel is. No real hotel bar or restaurant, relying on other facilities in the same building. Breakfast/parking not included meaning between tax, breakfast and parking you would easily add another $150 a night to the already steep rate. Overall probably better suited to business travellers than leisure.

The location and surrounding area are excellent, if not the best in the area. The staff are great and welcoming except one incident "see below". Although the room was clean and will maintained, there was two or three bad things I found, first, a cockroach "a small one, what known as German Cockroach", second, the was odor in the room, could be from the old huge pillar woods, and the third, windows don’t open so I have to turn the AC on all the time. The bad incident, at the time of checking in, I asked the lady at the front desk to extend my reservation for additional day, as she checked the system, she said we are fully booked tomorrow, and I asked if there are any other rooms or rates possible, she declined, few minutes later I checked for the availability using the hotel website, and Booking.com website, unfortunately I found the ability to book different kind of rooms. And I was extremely disappointed of the, and couldn't find any explanations other than I am unwanted person for her!

Friendly staff, wine in lobby in the late afternoon. Good rooms. On the more quiet end of Fishermans warf. Nice lobby, restaurants nearby. Valet parking. Great doorman. Sometimes slow queues at check in / check out. Toilets clog up easily but engineering is responsive

This hotel is lovely, spacious, clean and quiet. The desk staff are curt but the front door staff are amazing. They helped us with luggage, find a cab, give directions, etc. The front door staff are friendly, helpful, polite and they go out of their way to make you feel welcome.

We were celebrating our 50th wedding anniversary during our stay and the staff was so welcoming and gracious during our time there. They surprised us with a lovely card and champagne. Also, they all took the time to help us with suggestions about what to see and do in San Francisco. We also enjoyed it's location within the San Francisco National Historical Park near Fisherman's Wharf. Having the cable car and bus lines near by was very convenient.

The best bit for me was the location, absolutely great. The hosted wine tasting was also very good as it was an opportunity to mix with other guests and swap experiences. All in all a great hotel thoroughly recommend it.
