Nice rooms, very clean and comfortable. Quaint bed and breakfast atmosphere with pleasant staff. We really enjoyed our stay and would come again.
Stayed at Armstrong Mansion for our wedding night, & upon walking in you could almost feel the history that had taken place within those walls. Despite the late hour of our arrival due to the reception, the Armstrong Mansion caretaker was more than happy to greet us & show us to our room. She even made us an amazing breakfast in the morning even though we slept a few minutes late.
Welcoming staff. Breakfast is okay but not special. Great old house. Mattress in my room should be replaced. Small changes could greatly improve the stay. I spoke with our concierge about them and was told other have made similar suggestions. I wondered what the owners were waiting for. A gracious home. A friendly staff. Interesting local landmarks to walk to. I would return. If you are used to a 5 star hotel, don't expect it here. But I had a great week stay. Mike in New York.
Bright lights all night. Transoms with no light blocking shades. Broken TV cable box. Quirky plumbing. Lumpy mattress. Too many pillows. A lack of closet hangers. Easy things too fix. Many of which were addressed after I brought them to the attention of staff. I wondered why the owners hadn't noticed or cared. Overall I enjoyed the stay. I would go back. Just let the staff know if you need something.
People is good and nice. Back Home Feeling
Wifi is weak, please improve
Pretty room, delicious breakfast. Nice deep bath. Staff was friendly and accommodating.
Light from the hall coming in the transoms all night made it very difficult to sleep. Room was really tiny--was difficult even to find someplace to put my suitcase down (besides floor) and there was no desk, table, etc. Was difficult to use the shower nozzle to wash hair since there was no curtain and you couldn't stand up.
The staff was so friendly. Greeted us at the door. The resident innkeeper made us breakfast and then gave us a history of the inn.
Should have DVD movies to check out instead of just cable TV.
We liked that you could pick out your room on the website. We have stayed in a few Bed and Breakfasts on the East Coast and up in Northern Michigan. This compared very well with previous experiences.
Some problem occurred when we chose the August Room online. When we arrived in our room we knew it was not what we had chosen. The rooms were very different. We tried to switch rooms but were told others had selected their rooms online and couldn't be changed. And the house was full. However the next morning we found that at least 2 rooms were not used the previous night. So we were bumped accidentally or on purpose we don't know for sure.
The breakfast was very nice and the woman who was there serving was very informative. She gave us a nice history of the house and the family that built it.
After we looked at other available rooms, we decided we had the smallest, least attractive room in the house. When I booked the room, I was not given an option as to which room we reserved. We were disappointed at how small the room was. There was just one chair, so we both could not even sit down at the same time. Overall, we were disappointed in what we go for the price we paid.
Beautiful building, very friendly staff. All the rooms I saw were lovely.
Bed in the March room was a bit uncomfortable. Moved to January and slept much better. It's a solid 30 minute walk to downtown, so just be prepared. A fine stretch of the legs.
I love staying there it is our favorite place, they are friendly and the place feels like home
great location, fabulous old mansion very well maintained and fantastic breakfast
old houses are hard to control the heat and our room was to warm
Very lovely old mansion. Close to the city center, very friendly staff.
We loved the Mansion and we loved touring. We found rooms that we'd like to come back and stay in. We also loved the privacy and felt as if we where the only ones staying in the mansion, though we knew of at least 2 other couples. It was quiet and romantic and the staff where very friendly, especially because we're a gay couple and Utah is not known for being entirely accomedating for gay couples. We would love to go back.
The rooms where nice however our room wasn't completly clean. There was a dead fly on the floor in the bathroom and it was missing a few ceiling tiles. The rooms are cozy but they are "dated" and old; charming yet old. Also, I think we would have loved to know what floor the room was on prior to checking in. Had we known it was a basement room, I think we would have asked to change just because we're not huge fans of basements.
The staff was nice and friendly. The architecture was historically elegant. There were eateries in walking distance and the gas stations had good prices. Breakfast room was clean and tastefully set with lovely dish ware. We were glad they had an elevator.
Our bathroom only had a claw foot tub and we prefer showers. The queen bed was too big for the room and did not have enough space on each side of the bed for getting in and out. The wash basin was damaged underneath the bowl. Breakfast was okay with muffins, juice and 2 hot dishes of quiche and cobbler.
