The weirdest part of the experience were the private investigators who came into the office as we were returning our room keys. Seemed a bit sketchy....
It was a cute motel and very aesthetically pleasing from the outside. The rooms were fine for what we paid.
The view! the room! The location!! no one bothered us! we had a great time and the man that runs the desk is adorable!!we will be back!!
I liked it all
The location is great
No temperature controls in the room. Very chilly bathroom. There was no additional seating besides the bed and floor.
The breakfast wasn't great, but they tried so they get points for that. They don't really have a place for the breakfast. The fact that they don't have shampoo was annoying, but I read that on a previous review and it was my fault for not getting any. They found me some shampoo samples and brought them to me so they get bonus points.
I have wanted to stay here since I was a kid and it was exactly what I thought it would be.
Wifi is free but very poor quality. Walls are thin
The location ( by car, 8mns away from downtown, and very close to Blue Ridge Parkway entrance) The Neon Light Sign! Free Breakfast! Family owned business. The Vintage phone and TV in the bedroom.
There was no heater at all. There was garbage still in the can.
Beds belonged in the Smithsonian. My shoulder hurt real bad the next day. I wouldn't change a thing.
The front office and the neon, the history. A gem of a time capsule on the road that has survived the destruction of time.
It was soooo hot!!!! Our first night there was miserable. Our dogs were panting so bad. It smelled like burnt heat. The bathroom was dirty and the pillows were so flat we would have been better off using a pile of clothes. Also, the toilet was not firmly attached to floor. It was terrible!
I like the location and that dogs were accepted. Also, there was grass outside our door which made it easy to take the dogs out.
They wouldn't honor the booking.com price we reserved the room at. Really gross, unprofessional and unsafe.
There is no thermostat in the room. We froze all night. The hot water was lukewarm but not hot. We wouldn't stay there again. I definitely would not stay there with children.
I liked the cedar walls and the look of the room.
Wi fi could be better
They were very nice. Very clean room.
I love the Mountaineer because it is a survivor from the days of family owned motels, and it has one of the truly great neon signs that have survived from the glory days of roadside travel. My room was clean and comfortable, and a good value.
It was dirty and stinky and the beds were older than I am.
Everything about this hotel is out dated in a cheap horror movie kinda way. We had an awesome time, since we stayed for Halloween. The rooms we got connected and were huge, great for gearing up before our show at the orange peel.
Beds were so lopsided no one could sleep plus the tv didn't work. Overall the room was terrible.
They willingly refunded my money.
The sheets had some static electricity haha but no big deal, I slept fine and the mattress was comfortable.
Not a bad little mountain style hotel. It has a nice little atmosphere.
No shampoo in rooms unless requested.
the facility was clean, the owner his family and staff were friendly. The continental breakfast tasty. Coffee and tea freely available. Very pet friendly.
Just because I stay in Asheville now they would not let me stay
The decor and furniture was very out of date. The property would be well served by an update of its facilities.
The room was large enough to accommodate my family and had a working tv with cable.
Carpet was old and dirty. Mold on the shower curtain and a few roaches. Sheets on one bed had blood on them. a little blood but it was there and it wasn't old. we had no injuries.
Staff was very nice. We had a quiet, peaceful stay.
Two lamps where out in room. No switch to turn light off that was in breezeway. Was put in a room far away from main hotel bc I had a child with me. Rude staff.
Bed was decently comfortable. Son enjoyed the space in the room. Free breakfast decent.
no heat control no safety lock on the door no bath mat air was blowing through the cracks in the windows
The staff was very understanding when we had an emergency and had to cut our stay short.
A bit expensive for back packers
Very nice staff. Especially the. owner was extra nice. Even offered me a lift since buses don't operate on sun. Good breakfast
The TV is one your parents would have had. The tile in the bath is from the 70's I believe harvest gold was the color. I could see hair left in the bathroom from the previous guest, not what you want to see. Mattresses were old worn out and the linens made me want to buy my own.
The price is what I liked the most. The neon signs were fun to look at night.
