They wouldn't honor the booking.com price we reserved the room at. Really gross, unprofessional and unsafe.
I liked the cedar walls and the look of the room.
There is no thermostat in the room. We froze all night. The hot water was lukewarm but not hot. We wouldn't stay there again. I definitely would not stay there with children.
They were very nice. Very clean room.
Wi fi could be better
I love the Mountaineer because it is a survivor from the days of family owned motels, and it has one of the truly great neon signs that have survived from the glory days of roadside travel. My room was clean and comfortable, and a good value.
Everything about this hotel is out dated in a cheap horror movie kinda way. We had an awesome time, since we stayed for Halloween. The rooms we got connected and were huge, great for gearing up before our show at the orange peel.
It was dirty and stinky and the beds were older than I am.
They willingly refunded my money.
Beds were so lopsided no one could sleep plus the tv didn't work. Overall the room was terrible.
Not a bad little mountain style hotel. It has a nice little atmosphere.
The sheets had some static electricity haha but no big deal, I slept fine and the mattress was comfortable.
the facility was clean, the owner his family and staff were friendly. The continental breakfast tasty. Coffee and tea freely available. Very pet friendly.
No shampoo in rooms unless requested.
Just because I stay in Asheville now they would not let me stay
The room was large enough to accommodate my family and had a working tv with cable.
The decor and furniture was very out of date. The property would be well served by an update of its facilities.
Staff was very nice. We had a quiet, peaceful stay.
Carpet was old and dirty. Mold on the shower curtain and a few roaches. Sheets on one bed had blood on them. a little blood but it was there and it wasn't old. we had no injuries.
Bed was decently comfortable. Son enjoyed the space in the room. Free breakfast decent.
Two lamps where out in room. No switch to turn light off that was in breezeway. Was put in a room far away from main hotel bc I had a child with me. Rude staff.
no heat control no safety lock on the door no bath mat air was blowing through the cracks in the windows
The staff was very understanding when we had an emergency and had to cut our stay short.
Very nice staff. Especially the. owner was extra nice. Even offered me a lift since buses don't operate on sun. Good breakfast
A bit expensive for back packers
The price is what I liked the most. The neon signs were fun to look at night.
The TV is one your parents would have had. The tile in the bath is from the 70's I believe harvest gold was the color. I could see hair left in the bathroom from the previous guest, not what you want to see. Mattresses were old worn out and the linens made me want to buy my own.
Friendly staff. Neon signs were cool! Breakfast was quite nice.
Couldn't turn lights off outside room, and curtains were thin, so bright lights affected sleep. No safety lock on the door. Very tired.
It was clean enough and the location was very close to downtown and The Orange Peel.
It was a small bed that didn't even have a fitted sheet. The WIFI did not reach our room at all. The remote for the TV only worked to change the channels, we had to get up to power it on and off or to change the volume. The room was very bare and didn't have an alarm clock. If Asheville wasn't so booked up, there is no way I would have payed anywhere close to 100 dollars for a nights stay. It's value is more like 40 dollars a night.
No heat or air in the room. Had to get a space heater. Bathroom door stuck so much that I was locked into the bathroom while having an asthma attack. When husband ran for help, the woman behind the desk laughed at him. My hands are still bruised from trying to get out, and that was almost a week ago.my husband is a marine combat vet and has a service dog. After laughing at me, threatened us regarding dog. Nasty room. Bugs. Most horrible night of my life.
Clean, reasonably priced, good location.
Location was good. Room was large.
Room was dirty. Bathroom floors had not had a good cleaning in some time. I wouldn't walk on floors in my bare feet. Paid for 2 nights, but left after one nights stay.
Everything Else. Filthy. Wore out mattresses, barely there pillows. Stained furniture. Ripped and duct taped furniture Nasty carpet. Just don't stay here. It could be nice if someone took care of it, but sadly nobody seems to care.
This place was disgusting.
The front desk staff was pleasant.
The pictures of the rooms online were misleading. The room was very old and smelt stale. The beds were horrible as far as comfort and sat low to the ground and gave when you sat on them. The T.V looked to be from 1960 along with the décor. and furniture. My husband and I would not sleep under the sheets and comforter due to the appearance of the room and facility. The Mountaineer was extremely over priced for what they had to offer.I'm not one to give bad reviews but this is definitely the first time I have to say I was very disappointed :(:(
