The location is fabulous and the price is right. The main room with pool hall and fireplaces are nice.
The gong that rings at 7:30 AM needs to Go!!! Who wants to wake up at 7:30 AM on the weekend during a vacation? The room had a dorm feel, the mattresses were hard and not new. The bathroom is super small and needs updating. The line for coffee was ridiculously long and the cafe was not well stocked.
The staff was awesome and accommodating.
I walked into a completely different room than I booked. Two very small twin beds instated of the two doubles I booked. It was like staying at camp. The rooms were very sparse, the AC/fan didn't work and we were right next to a road. The walls were paper thin and you could everything and everyone.
Loved the grounds and view, close proximity to everything on Monterey Peninsula. And no TV in the room!
Afterhours noise policy not enforced. We stayed at the Breakers, and in absolute absence of sound insulation in the rooms, it felt like people were actually in our room. Although policy requires the patrons to be quiet, nobody even tried.
Most things. The parking facilities the surrounding areas. The tranquil setting.
Dinner not available after 7pm. Breakfast facilities lacking variety and pricing high. Staff while competent were not notably friendly.
The place is located the hotel is beatiful. The rooms are really comfortable and have view to the garden and sea. The people from the hotel are nice and everything was good.
On the breakfast the people from the hotel insist to you seat down on the tables they designate.
Low key rustic environment. Fair amount of international travelers in the mix. Communal seating during meals.
Staff not very welcoming, more like what one would expect from a state-run enterprise.
close to the beach
Really nice location between Monterey and Carmel. Very scenic grounds and rustic buildings with up to date modern interiors,Great value for money, very comfortable beds with good enough lighting for reading
Really nothing of note. However would prefer your survey have a category between good and excellent, as I would have marked some items very good versus good, and one or two items very good versus excellent
It was the only place that had a room available because of the events going on nearby, but was way over priced. Could have slept in the car for the same value. Room was spacious and clean...just not impressive. I would not recommend you waste your money to stay here.
- Parking was underground and not convenient. Had to carry luggage on a hike and upstairs with no elevator. No television No ice No view when paid extra for it...trees overgrown and in the way No telephone Way over priced Sleeping in my car would have been better. Although the landscape is natural, it is a complete fire hazard. No amenities and food and store close by 9pm and sooner.
The location is great for long walks by the beach. The staff are helpful and friendly. The grounds and architecture are lovely.
I stayed in Scripps. After my second night I had lower back pain. I think it may have been caused by the mattress,
Great location and staff
In need of updating
Nature Location Access to beach Very Quiet and serene.
Price Room and Bath needs an overhaul. Even with little money the shower doors can be replaced. In short, for $215 a night one expects free breakfast and a free newspaper.
Location; proximity to beach and Monterey Bay Aquarium and good restaurants deer wandering the neighborhood raccoon raiding the trash bins at night - like being at summer camp bed was comfy people were pleasant
Outdated bathroom - from the 60s Tiny room Many rooms have poor view Advert seemed misleading - what we arrived to did not seem as what we had reserved Getting extra bedding for the kids was a slow, laborious, time-drain from our evening plans
I loves the location and ambiance.
Our room was in an older portion of the complex. I needed a double room for my daughter and I. The room was very small and the beds were singles not double beds. They were comfortable but for the price of the room I would have expected more. My feeling is Asilomar puts their partners customers like Booking or Priceline in the shabbier rooms than their customers going directly through Asilomar.
Relaxed. Closeness to beach. Beautiful setting
The location and access.
no ice available in building, otherwise room was fine.
No TV! Great place for family time.
The location is fantastic: just up from the beach, close to Monterey and the aquarium, good walks. We've met nice people in the dining hall every time we've come here. It's very pleasant to hang out in the main hall, play pool, read, watch the fire in the fireplace. There aren't any TVs in the rooms so the place has a more timeless feel to it.
Some of the features of the rooms are getting worn out: windows that are hard to open, plugs fall out of outlets, and other little things like that. We could hear the neighbors in the room next door quite well. Bring ear plugs.
Interior cleanliness Good food Beautiful Scenery Nice common room in each bldg.
exterior needs some tlc! grass would be nice ...
Next to the beach Nice history behind
It has not been updated since built
beautiful location, friendly and helpful staff.
there was a conference in our building and was very loud until after midnight. the conference was held directly across the rooms we were trying to sleep in. would suggest scheduling conferences in non-residential buildings.
Loved the grounds! Went for grown up event but will return with the kids next time.
The dining hall closed too early. Would have loved to check it out but slept in.
Location, staff, quiet, the history, the grounds
breakfast has gone down hill. Used to be so much better. The room we stayed in was old and run down, needs a good sprucing up. This last time we stayed breakfast was not included. I think because we booked through a third party.
Walk to the beach. The many buildings made the place feel like a whole village instead of a cold hotel.
Rooms are small and no telelphone or television
I liked the location and the breakfast was really good. I also really enjoyed the atmosphere in the main lobby with pool tables and a fireplace. The food court was also lovely. The entire property is just beautiful to walk around and has easy access to the beach.
For the money I was expecting the rooms to have more accommodations than it did. There was no tv, no mini fridge, and I don't remember seeing a coffee pot either. It would have been nice to have those things in the room.
