First of all I secured my reservation with a credit card and booked a pay later and was going to pay cash. The front desk person called my cell phone while I was at work and left a very nasty message stating he was canceling my reservation since I did not book with a valid credit card. I use the same credit card for all my bookings at any hotel and have never had a problem. When I arrived at the hotel this same front desk member was extremely rude and I have stayed at this hotel several times in the past and it has gone downhill with each stay. I went to the room it had not even been cleaned and when I went back to the desk he gave me another key to another room. This room was seemed very musty and and not clean, the shower still had someone's hair in it. Gross! This hotel had a fire in it recently and it did not appear that the owners were making any attempt to rebuild. I will never stay or recommend this hotel again!
facilities and furnishings were worn out
1/2 the motel was burned out. The stench of the room (kind of a dirty-person-mothball mix) made us sick to the stomach. Couldnt make left turn into it coming from the east. Had to go 1/2 mile down the road, u-turn & come back
No direct access from Atlanta Highway-- either have to go past and make a u-turn or drive through a neighborhood and double back. Dark and dingy. Shower knob had grungy stuff in it. Container holding breakfast danish was nasty. Bring pillows if you stay. If you have to stay here be sure to get a room on the 2nd floor...heard people in room above us for most of night. Was a last minute trip to Athens during graduation and this hotel was a last resort. If this is America's Best then I'd hate to see the worst.
I was there for a local convention. The host hotel was sold out, but this hotel was a very small distance away. And they had endless hot water (as do most hotels)
The manager was rude, and spoke to us as if we were annoying animals instead of paying clients. The fridge was unplugged and therefore warm, and half the light fixtures and the television was unplugged as well. The bed was rock hard. Sleeping on concrete would have been more comfortable. The toilet seat was loose and when I sat down, I literally slid into the side of the tub. Half the towel smelled musty, as though they'd not been laundered, the tub was stained, and the bathroom sink had no stopper. I've stayed at "America's Best" hotels before. They are usually a pleasant experience for the money. This place was a dive.
Never saw any staff other than check in. Room were dirty. I pulled all the covers off the bed and checked for bugs, I have never done this in any other hotel/motel that I have stayed. If I had "gotten what I had paid for" the room would have been ok. Not even close to "America's Best" even "economy" is to good for this place. Very over priced for the accommodations. Will sleep in my vehicle if no other hotels are available next time I stay in Athens, ga.
Location was great. Convenient to shopping and downtown area. The bed was very comfortable. The staff was friendly. Easy access to the ice machine. Check in and check out was easy. Supplied soap, shampoo in small amounts.
The room was dated and has "seen better days." There was a musty smell, but the room was clean. The coffee maker was broken. Towels were very small. Remote control to the TV didn't work. Housekeeper came by early on our last day and let themselves in--saw we were still in bed and stepped back out!? No blow dryer or iron (although we were able to borrow an iron from the office). Was a little scary at night. Fine for a last minute booking for a place to sleep and shower.
The manager was rude when we asked for sheets for the pull out bed and 2 more towels, even though they knew we had 4 people. The room was Dirty! You could not take breakfast up to your room.
Comforters had many holes in them. Bed was very uncomfortable. Found condom wrapper between sheets on one bed another bed had blood stain. Only had one set of towels in one room that we booked for three people. Both rooms the shower curtains were mildewed and bath tubs were stained and looked dirty. We will NEVER stay here again.
The price was right.
Accessibility: You cannot reach the motel from west-bound Highway 78 (must loop around an extra 1/2 mile to get to it). Otherwise: It's worn-out, dilapidated, just a very sad place. Bed was hard as rocks. Wifi never stayed up for more than 5 minutes. Enter at your own risk.
The manager would at least talk to us. It was around the corner from my destination.
I didn't like the size of the room. There were ants on the counter and when brought to the managers attention oh "you probably had food on the counter". The ants were coming from behind the mirror. They have a dangerous situation going on with stairwell coming down in the doorway. I wanted an adjustment on the fees I paid but got nowhere, with that idea, he did offer to move us on the last night. We stayed 3 nights. I would not recommend this motel to any one. The first night I even found a chicken bone that was dried against the baseboard by the lamp.
The room had an order. The bathroom was dirty. I gave the key rigth back after seeing the room. There is no way I would have stayed the night at this hotel. I also did not feel safe there. The pool was empty. No water in it. Rug had what looked like burn marks. I would rather sleep in my car!!!
It was right down the street from my destination
It is an "Economy" motel, it is not anywhere near "America's Best" This motel is the poster child for "you get what you pay for" So its not so much what I didn't like (there were many things) it is more of what do you expect for the cheapest room in Athens. If you want a bed and shower and no extras...this is the place for you.
Walls and ceilings are thin resulting in too much noise. Was beat up and old. TV remote was held together with tape.
The bed was comfy. The Fridge was very cold.
The room smelt like cigarettes when entering. Horrible housekeeping. Roaches were a big issue. Towels has stains on them. I wouldnt Reccommend anyone to stay at this hotel.
Close to jobsite where we were working
rooms were very dirty, mold on the heating/cooling units
A good value for the price, especially of you are only there for the game.
Location was good. Quiet. Safe place. No roaches.
The room smelled like a cigarette convention took place there. The toilet leaned and there were ashes in the drawers. The bedding wasn't clean.
Dirty, smelled, dead bugs, the worst I have ever been in, we left after just beeing there 1 hour the hell with the money paid. An outrage !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
There was dried blood on the bathroom floor and hair on the shower wall. I refused to even sleep under the covers it was so beyond gross. Staff was rude and unpleasant. I would never stay here again not would I recommend it to anyone. Worst time in a hotel/motel ever
Bed was very comfortable
Noise from room above, could hear folks walking around in the middle of the night
Staff was friendly, but ran out of extra pillows and towels
Bed and pillows were very uncomfortable. But value for money. Hard to get a room for one night on a UGA game day weekend.
I believe the owners of this motel are overwhelmed with maintaining what's left of it. It needs to be restored or torn down and rebuilt. It is filthy and most items in it are unuseable. The woman at the front desk was nice and helpful. I see potential for the location.
The management was very nice. Seemed to be trying to update some rooms.
The room was very shabby. Towels were very poor quality.
Only place that soul let me book one night only
Dirty room, carpet, bathroom floor! My "non-smoking" room was worse smelling than smoking room! And why was there an ashtray in my "non-smoking" ? Blankets had cigarette burn holes throughout.
