The decor and the proprietor. Everything about the place was inviting. Nice how you have to be personally greeted upon arrival like you are going into someone's home.
The airport shuttle doesn't run there. You'd have to get a cab (which turns out to be worth it) or you can be dropped off at French Quarter Suites and grab a city bus or walk 9 blocks.
The neighbourhood looks residential but in fact there are stores, cafes and restaurants close by. We had the courtyard suite. Nice bathroom, good bed, simple kitchen. Very friendly and kind host.
The location was excellent. It was not in the French Quarter, but close enough to walk. The Sweet Olive was very comfortable, and the breakfast was excellent! Nancy our host and owner was friendly, accommodating, very informative and interesting lady. Breakfast was available each day at 7:00 am. On our departure day, Nancy our host knew that we were leaving early. She had the breakfast ready for us to eat at 6:30 am. Wonderful place! Great coffee!
Nancy was a fantastic host Room and house was clean, gorgeous and peaceful Breakfast was delightful and catered for gluten free Great location in Marigny neighbourhood short walk to famous Frenchman Street
The welcome was excellent. The place is good, close to French Quarter but not to close. The suite is very nice with all the comfort but with the charm of a house. As french travellers we definitely recommend it.
Excellent neighborhood and near to French Quarter. Clean and nice room. Good breakfast. Thank you Nancy!
Lovely B&B; very nice rooms in a beautiful house; very close to Frenchmen street & Decatur street (tons of great restaurants, bars with a more authentic feel than Bourbon st.) Breakfast was very delicious, with a nice array of homemade baked goods. Nancy was very sweet and extremely accommodating. All in all, staying at this B&B really enriched our travel experience in New Orleans, and I would highly recommend it to anyone -- I only wished we'd have booked some additional days!
We loved our host, Nancy. So helpful with any enquiry we had and happy to please clients. We also liked the ambience of the Auld Sweet Olive, relaxing and quiet to just "hang out" if you chose to do so, wonderful fresh breakfasts every day and very welcoming. We would recommend a stay there to our friends.
The air conditioning was a little noisy in the room.
This is the perfect B&B in a quiet yet very convenient New Orleans neighborhood. Whether you're in town for the food, fun, music, shopping, or business, the Auld Sweet Olive is the perfect place to stay to get the most out of your trip. Nancy and her team are lovely and couldn't be more accommodating. The property is perfectly charming and offers ample opportunity to hang out and relax or serves as a comfortable, close stop-over if you're busy enjoying everything else New Orleans has to offer. I highly recommend Auld Sweet Olive and know that you will too! We didn't want to leave and will certainly be back!
Great Location within walking distance of French Quarter. Historical safe neighborhood Large room Great Food and service
This is a really cool house with beautiful artwork on the walls. My friend and I stayed here for 4 nights during the Essence festival. The owner, Nancy, was really nice and accommodating. Breakfast usually consisted of one hot dish that changed each day as well as muffins, cereal, pastries, orange juice, milk, tea and coffee. Close to Frenchmen Street which is a really cool part of town with lots of places to hear live music and great restaurants.
The bed was a little smaller that I had expected but it was fine. You can walk to the French Quarter but it was so hot and humid that week that walking in the hot sun was almost unbearable. Note that buses and most street cars stop running at midnight so you will have to rely on taxis if you stay out late.
Nancy is a true blue human being who loves what she does. It shows in every way with this B and B. Thanks for being a wonderful home away from home for us for a week, we will be back someday!
This is the place to visit! No sense to search any longer! The biggest attraction of the place is owner: Nancy. She cares about every single customer, she gives advice. Thanks her talent beautiful place has been created: with nice decoration, comfortable rooms and very special atmosphere. B&B is located very close to all attractions of French Quarter. The breakfast – cooked by Nancy! – together with all other guests seating at the same large table is THE EXPERIENCE! But be careful you can spend seating and talking like this 3 hours!
Amazing place to stay, not far from the french quarter for a great price. Far enough for some peace and quiet but close enough to walk. Nancy (the innkeeper) will help you with anything and will always have a helpful suggestion ready when you don't know what to do or what to eat! Breakfast is amazing and all homemade by Nancy herself. Something different every day!
Place was stunning, location was good and again another fantastic hostess.
Location was perfect, Nancy was an amazing host, very comfy bed, relaxing patio
How helpful our Inn keeper Nancy was.
You were made to feel very welcome and nothing was too much trouble. If we return to New Orleans we would definitely stay here again and will definitely recommend to friends.
Everything about this B&B was fantastic, we had a wonderful trip!
A warm welcome, fabulous breakfasts & great location - we loved it.
Nothing not to like!
Everything was perfect. Beautiful bed and breakfast in a very nice part of New Orleans.
Everything about Auld Sweet Olive is what New Orleans is all about, warm welcome, room excellent, food fantastic. We could only stay two nights but feel that Nancy is like an old friend. We would definitely stay again. John & Margaret, Liverpool.
The house was beautiful! Nancy was a great hostess and she really cared about answering any questions you might have. Breakfast was made every morning and was delicious. It was walking distance to the French Quarter so a cab was only necessary at night. If I ever go to nola again I will sure to be booking at the Auld Sweet Olive again. Thank you so much Nancy!
