The kitchen area in the room
Unfortuantly the first night i had to sleep on the floor because they laid the floor in the bathroom higher than the carpet for the rest of the room and shuffled along in the dark not wanting to step on any thing and hit it ,blood every where so could not take the chance of the plasters my wife put coming off in the bed slept on the floor
The Garden District was a good place to stay if you don't want to deal with downtown traffic and noise. The trolley stops right in front of Avenue Plaza for the ride into downtown. The building itself was wonderful - very clean, large rooms. Staff is helpful.
Our room was next to elevator, thus a lot of extra noise. Woman at front desk said there were no other rooms to move us to without even checking the computer to see if anyone was checking out. She was the only unhelpful staff member we encountered. Everyone else was great.
I have never stayed in a hotel that had so many places to relax. A hotel usually has your room and a lobby. This had a porch overlooking St. Charles, a pool with comfortable chairs, a room with juice and coffee, a courtyard and all this in addition to your own comfortable suite. The trolley stopped in front of your hotel. There were two good inexpensive breakfast restaurants in the next block, several very good local dinner houses and two of the most famous restaurants in the same area. You could get to the French Quarters on the trolley ($3.00 pass for the day) in approx.15 minutes. After the hustle, you could spend some time relaxing at the hotel before rejoining the crowds. I wouldn't stay anywhere else.
The closet was very tiny.
Location to trolley. Facilities. Rooms.
Inadequate Air con.
It's was clean, safe & friendly staff!
The room we had was excellent (one bedroom suite). Very comfortable and quiet. The location of the Avenue Plaza is great with nice bars nearby and the proximity to the streetcar (across road) is an added bonus.
Great resort in the Garden District. Our apartment had everything we needed and the streetcar stops right outside to get you downtown and to all the tourist attractions.
This is a time-share resort and the staff are very keen to get you to check out time share opportunities. We were really given the hard sell and promised free tour tickets and a $100visa card if we went to a presentation. We agreed as the pressure was high, but when we got there even the presenters said we would be wasting our time so we left and of course didn't get the free stuff.we lost an hour for nothing-just say no unless you are really interested
The bathroom was too small.
The staff was wonderful, friendly, and were very helpful.
Room was clean and looked recently updated with granite counter tops. Having a full size freezer/refrigerator and range top along with quality dishes and utensils I really liked. Lastly that the room had a full air conditioning unit in room that worked well not one that is attached the window or attached to the wall (the one with the spin dials) and is often poorly maintained and smells moldy. Nit picky I know but those irk me. Staff was also very friendly and conversational.
Never saw housekeeping come to the room but I think that is because I didn’t request it as I assumed it operated like a standard hotel room even though it’s was a suite. So not really a con just something to be aware of.
I loved the staff, facility and the conveyance of public transportation. There were so many great places to eat within walking distance up and down the street that it was a tuff decision for us on weather to travel within a mile to go to Canal Street, or the Frence Quarter to eat, or shop. This was difinatly the best value for the money. I will definatly continue to stay at The Avenue Plaza Resort whenever I go to New Orleans, and I will be back there for Essence for 2015 as well. I just love the music and excellent Southern hospitality from the natives to the the people that travel there to attend the Essence festivities.
There was nothing that I did not like about the Avenue Plaze, I have been staying there every year for The Essence Music Festival since it moved back to the Superdome after Hurricane Katrina. I arrive 2 days before the fesitival starts and depart 2 days after the festival is over to return back to California by Delta, or Southwest Airlines through the Oakland Airport.
I love staying in the Garden District. You are either a short streetcar ride or cab ride from all the action downtown.
Problems with third party billing company.
Good kitchenette facility. Good room size. Pool and gym facilities good.
This is not a hotel, it is a time share resort which means the room is booked as a guest of a time share owner. This is not made clear by Booking.com. This means no maid service, the room is not cleaned or towels changed in the room. There is no bar or food available. The steakhouse is a separate restaurant. Fortunately a bar 2 doors away and nearby cafés for breakfast. However, it also meant that offers of 'free breakfast ' or vouchers were really an excuse for a 90 minute time share sales pitch witch we fortunately realised in time, so beware. There are many better things to do with your time in New Orleans!
The staffs are friendly and helpful. The kitchen in the room is very well facilitated, with all kinds of household appliances, even a dish washer and a large refrigerator! Since I do not carry my laptop while traveling, I find the computer room quite convenient for checking e-mails and planning travel itineraries. It is provides coffee and lemonade during the day.
Two cockroaches came after I had popcorn in the room...
That there was the ability to have separate rooms to sleep in as a colleague joined me for part of the time. Nice bathroom, very nice kitchen with everything you might need included. It was quiet. People were very helpful. Good places to eat within walking distance. Streetcar was right outside the front door.
Would have been more convenient to have the towel exchange also at earlier and later hours - I attended a conference that started at 7:30 am and ended at 6:00 pm, so couldn't really get clean towels if needed.
The Avenue Plaza was close enough to everything just a 10 trolley ride away if you didn't have a car.
The fact that u have to pay an additional fee daily for housekeeping if it was needed.
Room was very good. Street car & transport at the door. Restaurants & food store close at hand. Nice & quiet.
There was not much not to like.
Conveniently located on the streetcar line, large well furnished rooms including all appliances, fitness centre, notified us regarding an upcoming marathon which affected transport.
Slightly discomforting to walk around the hotel area at night.
We loved our big room with a large and comfortable bed, well equipped kitchen and nice bathroom. everything was clean and perfect.
There was nothing we didn't like. We enjoyed our stay.
Avenue Plaza resort is a beautiful hotel located at a perfect location in Garden District. My apartment has everything that we needed to make our stay as comfortable as possible with a nice kitchen area, a full size refrigerator, a blender and a good choice of dishes and utensils. I love the bedroom with its own flat screen tv and a nice view. I definitely would love to stay here again whenever I come to visit New Orleans.
The rooms are comfortable and spacious. The outdoor courtyard and pool area are very nice. The street car stops outside the doors.
The concierge services were very courteous and helpful.
I had NO internet for my entire 4 night stay. I called it in the first night. No response. I called it in the second night. They asked me to connect at the lobby and then return to my room - which didn't work. The following day they finally sent an engineer who could NOT find the router. The following morning I spoke to the on duty manager who was unfriendly and blamed me because according to their protocol the guest was supposed to call AT&T and take care of the internet. ABSURD. Guess what... I was staying in their most expensive suite. I was happier at the Comfort Inn in Lafayette and the Marriot in Baton Rouge.
The staff, every one of them. The location, amenities and attentiveness. The immediate neighborhood and access to the trolley.
Not enough closet space or electric outlets. The bathroom had several issues that had to do with its limited size. The sink top was too small for "stuff" and squeezed the toilet. The shower door leaked all over the floor the first night which was quickly fixed although you can still see a gap from the inside and it still leaks a little when the water hits it directly. When facing the shower head there was black mold in the lower left corner on the floor/wall seam. While not an issue, I personally prefer a softer mattress.
Great living room and kitchenette. new appliances and amenities. Good pillows
Front desk staff - some are good, others a bit indifferent. Could be improved.
I liked the full kitchen in the room. The friendly doormen. The hot tub was nice and hot. The streetcar stop was very close.
I was not able to extend my stay by one more night by asking the front desk. They said they didn't do reservations there.
