Very close to Embassy Row on Massachusetts Avenue. Shares entrance with a fine Tavern. Helpful receptionist.
The building shakes when the laundry room goes into spin mode. Renovations and soundproofing would help.
close to everything
the rooms were tolerable. beds were poor. rooms very small. Pub waiters were not very well trained, poor service
Felt like I was in a brothel
Can't believe no wi-fi in USA hotel.....
The location is just great, and if you like beer it is even better. The rooms were basic but clean, and really appropriate for what I needed.
The continental breakfast is lousy- not worth the $5.
15% off in the restaurant
elevator operated manually
The service was good
The matares could be better
Cleanness Location Staff
Loud music in the weekend up. We couldn't sleep.
Room was small but enough for solo travelers. Towels and other things were in place and clean. It is nice to stay a day or two but more than that might be boring.
The overall location and the tavern were wonderful. Great vibe with a European feel! Perfect for couples or solo travelers who don't care to hang out in their room all day and just want a nice clean bed and a great location.
Good localisation Really clean bathroom
AC was extremely loud (couldn't sleep while it was working) Rooms were very tiny Breakfast (only toast-bread jam and philadelphia cheese plus old donuts)
Loved the location. The food served in the bar was excellent. The staff were helpful and friendly. Dwight, on reception was so helpful. He advised us on everything we needed to know. We were situated central so it was easy to find your way anywhere you wanted to go. If we return to Washington in future for a break. We would definitely stay at the Baron.
The saying "you get what you pay for" comes to mind. Although the room was spotlessly clean, a few home comforts wouldn't go amiss. Not somewhere you would stay for a vacation but definitely adequate for a couple of nights. A little TLC to the entrance would go a long way as it is a bit dark and gloomy as you enter.
the cheapest available hotel.
Noisy. No curtains to windows, only blinds. Thus, the light and noise from outside were not dampened. Too pricy for what i got.
Its a nice small-cheap hotel with everything close by, walking distance to the Dupont Circle Metro station which connects you to every part of the city. And walking distance to the George Town which is a great place to hangout. The hotel has a great pub, its really happening after office hours.
The Lift in the hotel is really old. Bathrooms are small too but fine. And if you have heavy luggage then from the road to enter the hotel then there are some steps to take.
The Baron is a small but comfortable hotel in the NW quarter of Washington DC in a great location just a 5 minute walk from the Big Bus stop (no. 35) at the corner of P Street and Rock Creek Parkway and a 5 minute walk from the metro at Dupont Circle (via Q Street). I was checked in by a helpful receptionist and allocated a room on the third floor at the front of the hotel and with a view of the church opposite. The room was functional, with a comfortable double bed, desk, flat screen TV and importantly, air con, as the temperature reached 89 during my stay. The bathroom was equipped with a walk in shower, hairdryer and a good selection of quality toiletries and like the bedroom itself was very clean. The hotel also provides a basic breakfast at a minimal cost, which is served downstairs in the bar. The hotel also boasts a Tavern, perfect for that relaxing drink or two after a day’s sightseeing. The hotel seemed a little dated but was very comfortable, clean and ticked all the boxes for me and I would wholeheartedly recommend it.
Nothing springs to mind
There is a staircase in front of the hotel. It is not easy to carry my bag
Staff were friendly and helpful and the hotel s situated in a great location - lots of places to eat nearby and quite safe to walk in at night. Our room was large and light on the top floor - the lift is small and old fashioned but quite serviceable.
Would have liked to be able to make tea and coffee in the room rather than having to go downstairs to reception. The breakfast room is in a rather gloomy basement and breakfast is definitely not worth the cost - no bread left for toast and only a choice of 2 cereals. There are plenty of local cafe options that are much better value.
Location, Location, Location
Stinky bathroom, size of the room and historical elevator. (Not for historical. It wasn't work properly 3 day in my 5 day stay.
Wifi no signal at some area.
The quaintness of the hotel, so cute, the lift was an experience but good fun,,, The hotel room was very very clean.Well done
The hotel is well located, close to the main attractions. The room is clean, the wi-fi connection pretty good.
The room was very dark, facing a wall (I was told that the majority of them were like that). The breakfast is an absolute horror, consisting only of muffins and donoughts, bread and butter. The ventilation system in the bathroom is really noisy. The elevator is ancient, with heavy doors, that are not working properly. Noisy people leaving the bar in the middle of the night. Overall, poor quality for the price paid. Much better alternatives among other 3* hotels, with similar room price and similar location.
Location. Old but well-kept. Friendly, helpful staff
Wi-fi inconsistent. Noisy Saturday night when bar closed. Shower was barely a trickle
Location was reasonable close to DC sights and public transport. Rooms had been recently refurbished We were put into a room with a double bed - very small! but Reception changed us to a room with twin beds immediately on request but still noisy zircon. So go for twin beds and ask if there is a room with quiet air con. No coffee or tea making in room but coffee and water available at reception 24/7? Bed linen and towls were OK. Cleanliness fine
Noisy air condition thus poor sleep quality Few steep steps to get your bags into the Hotel and don't expect help. Very small left but thank goodness there was one
Location Cleanliness Comfort Quality of sleep
Guy at reception
The cleanliness, friendly staff, and location of the hotel made it an enjoyable place to stay. Very close to Dupont Circle. There's also a bar on the first floor of the hotel that looked like fun.
The rooms were tiny but it didn't matter since we stayed for only a couple nights. The air conditioner was also right next to our bed and was very loud so it was difficult to hear the TV with it on. Could also be an issue for light sleepers. No safe either.
