Bed was unacceptably poor. Room furnishings were very old and tired and the whole building seemed very run down. Definitely not suitable for couples.
The location. Staff were friendly. Just about ok for solo travellers as an alternative to a hostel.
Mostly elevator & price though off shift staff could have tried for more hospitable presentation.
Bar & food make up for any short commings of hotel itself. Manuel elevator door annoying but having traveled throughout Europe & UK I found it tolerable.
A little bit small and simple
Good location Clean comfortable and quiet room
the wifi was so poor it was basically non existent.
Nice place to stay with comfy homely feel. The pub downstairs is really nice with vast variety of beers and different entertainment most nights. Close to everything and could "rent" bike everywhere.
our request for double bed not followed
We were on the first floor, and had bar noise to deal with. For light sleepers it could be a bad situation. The hotel should invest in better mattresses and new bedding. The comforters were lumpy. Not awful, but would make all the difference.
Location, location, location! Priced right. The attached bar (great beer selection!) worked nicely for post-kid-bedtime beers for adults. :)
I didn't like the breakfast
loved all the antiques throughout the hotel the rooms were comfortable clean the beds were soft and comfy
parking sucks! good luck!
the location, the charm, the location
Very convinent, Quite and a place to be
Our room was opposite the bar and throughout our stay the music from across and even worse from the 'dance hall' below was very disturbing :-(. I would not recommend those rooms and we were not warned about the noise level.
The location was perfect as it was fairly close to our conference (CIES 2015). The proximity to a number of restaurants was excellent, as was the proximity to public transport.
Definitely noise from bar was an issue both nights. beds too soft, dirty carpeting. expected the old bathroom so that not a problem
location worked well. Near restaurants and metro
Not a bad location and Interesting elevator. Room is not spacy but clean enough.
The hotel has no lobby to speak of. Except for a noisy bar, there are no common facilities. The staff were perfunctory and off handed. On departure the receptionist took breakfast charges and promised to send bill by email as he claimed his computer to be down. He never sent it.
The location is excellent on a quiet part of DC. my room was convenient with good modern bathroom. Shower was spacious. Window AC was effective but somewhat noisy.
The elevator is very old and scary, you need to push 2 doors at the same time to exit. All that with your luggage. The personal is very '''grumpy face'' not very gentle. The wifi is slowly.
The room was very clean, the bar is cool, good food, a lot of variety beers to taste it.
Nice building and clean room for a reasonable price.
Hotel should provide complimentary bfast to their guests. Complimentary water in the room
Location is very accessible
The heater in the room is like those old air conditioners the size of a big box. It´s so noisy it feels you are sleeping next to a washing machine. If you turn it off, you freeze - particularly as the bed was right next to the window and it was winter. If it´s on, you can barely sleep. Room was small, dark and not well ventilated. I stayed there for an entire week and only after asking three different days I managed to get 2 extra blankets for me and my colleague. I think its ok and still value for money if you are only staying for 1 or 2 nights, but certainly not suitable for a longer stay, as in my case. Except for one exception, staff was not particularly helpful or interested in being so. Understandably, as they seem to work incredibly endless hours without shift.
Staff was meh. Room was small & a bit crowded by the bed; fine for sleeping but not inviting for hanging out in.
Very convenient location. WiFi worked actually very well (after some initial fiddling around). I liked the hallways with their old-world charm. I was on the 4th floor and noise from the bar/stage did not make it up there.
Sketchy room, poor services, no lobby but rather a bizarre hallway. Said that they would store my luggage when I arrived and they put it in the corner, under the stairs completely not secure. I would not recommend this hotel and will not be returning.
The place is worn.
Loud noises from the street until 1pm (they have a comedy show on Tuesday night). I was on the 4th and top floor and I could still hear the conversations on the street. Hotel is very old, and it shows, not necessarily in a good way.
Slept great, the bed must have been comfortable. The location was near Dupont Circle, where I wanted to be
The location was ideal with easy access to the trains
1. Old type lift door does need skills and strength to slide open, and seems more difficult with lugguage. 2. After room cleaning, it smells like clinical office and the smell hangs on for days. One may feel alergic.
Easy reach via subway from Union Train Statioin, a number of restarrants around, CVS stores. Coffee and tea is free 24 hours at lobby.Good price compared to D.C. life.
lack of support, bad bed, cramped space, 3 level walk up to front door, no support with luggage. No ice for the room except via the basement level bar.no vending in this hotel.
great dinner, food quality and service.
Heating is done with radiator which is very loud. It is so loud that it wakes you up in the middle of the night.
Close to Metro line, above a bar with hundreds of beer types.
