Location, great transport.
Poor condition of the room
- Clean Room - Very close to the beach (walking distance) - Free parking (if all spots are not taken) - Room had everything you need
- Room is very old and outdated - No elevator - Hotel is right above a bar and the windows are very old. The bar is open until 2am, so it was very hard to sleep as the bar patrons below were extremely loud. If you are looking for a quiet and restful night's sleep, this is not the place. - Not really close to anything in San Fran other than the beach, although there is public transportation near by (this is also an extra noise factor). It took us about 30-40 minutes to drive anywhere we wanted to go. - Staff was not really helpful when asked about which public transport to take to get around San Fran. - We only stayed one night, and frankly I'm glad it wasn't longer.
the location was great... super
Very helpful staff, clean room, bed comfy, microwave and fridge in room. Very close to muni so travelling around easy. Not far from beach either.
Only downside was having a room at the front of motel, muni runs right along front of hotel from 5 am till midnight and is quite noisy so only a few hrs unbroken sleep but for a brief stopover not too much of a problem.
This motel is usually priced pretty well and has a parking lot, although it can fill up during the night and street parking nearby is also often full. The rooms are big enough have a fridge and microwave, and the staff was nice.
The paint is peeling and there is mold etc, the mirror and tv were both crooked and we couldn't push them back, like they were mounted that way on purpose. You can hear and feel vibrations from the N-Line muni every 15 minutes or so which makes it hard to sleep, but it stops from around 1am to 5am. Basically, its loud and not kept up well, but its cheap and has a parking lot.
public transport Size of room Helpful staff
Noise from trams
The room was clean and a good size.
We both slept terribly from the tram noise (and vibrations that shook the entire room!) that continued through most of the night and at high frequency in the early morning and evening. Yes, the access to the tram is excellent as the motel is on the roadside next to it but this does not compensate the lack of sleep from the disturbance. The noisy bar below also did not help. I would not stay here again as I was exhausted after 3 nights of sleep deprivation.
Room was clean. Beds were comfortable.
the windows were old. One had an old bullet hole in it. They didn't lock properly. The noise from the Judah line woke me up multiple times during the night.
Good Price Close to Golden Gate Park Good place to crash for a night
A bit far from downtown and tourist attractions
The location is great, two blocks from the beach.
I was literally YELLED AT by one of the hotel operators, due a failure by hotel staff to communicate my confirmed checkout time. The story: This hotel seems to be family operated, possibly family-owned as well. It was impossible to get someone to answer the front desk phone the morning of checkout. The phone would just ring and ring, with no answer. So I walked down to the front desk, which was empty, and confirmed with the gentleman behind the counter who greeted me that we had a one-hour extension on our checkout time. Normal checkout is 11am, and we were now confirmed with a 12pm late checkout. Fast forward now to 11:30am, 30 minutes before we're due to check out. While I'm busy preparing to leave (taking a shower) my hotel phone starts to ring. And keeps ringing. It probably rang 50 times while in the shower, but I could not be bothered. As I exit the shower someone starts violently knocking on my door. It is the female hotel operator. I open the door, she literally screams at me that checkout time was at 11am and that I need to GET OUT. Screamed. at. me. to. get. out. So, not only is the communication between the front desk poor, the hotel staff chose to yell at their customer. Worst service I've ever received at a hotel in the four decades of my life. I won't be back.
Very clean close to beach
Muni line was very loud and no elevator
Not really anything. The facility is very dated
We were told one price and it was more. I requested ground floor, there are no ground floors. No elevator. Had to get a different room to be on a lower floor we were told to use only 1 bed since it was a 2 queen bed. We ended up paying an extra $10 for the room. Barely got my husband up the 1 flight of stairs.
The rest of things
The room was clean and I felt comfortable staying there. The location was great it's literally a short walk from the beach and a nearby coffee shop. It was pretty cheap considering that the location was so good. Overall I would stay there again, my friends and I didn't end up spending all that much time in the hotel because we were out all day exploring San Fran.
It wasn't the nicest room there were a few things here and there such as a boarded up fireplace that made the room look a little shabby. Not horrible, just not five star. And they only provided a couple bars of soap for the bathroom. I wouldn't stay here if you are looking for a nice hotel room to spend a great period of time in, our main interest was the city itself and we basically just needed somewhere to stay that was affordable.
Fun to hear the waves of the Pacific crashing on the shore
Less fun to hear the rumbling trains and loud bar late into the evening
it was noisy, disgusting, unsafe, smelly. We walked out and left our $200 behind, drove 1 1/2 hours to another hotel. How this place is even still open is beyond me.
Location is good, close to the beach, ZOO and city tram. Parking. TV.
First of all, there was a party going on 2 night in row when we stayed there, I don't know if it was within the hotel or out, but we couldn't sleep, the music was so loud! Room was old but renewed. Not too clean and very small. No breakfast.
Beware: the N train turn around is right by Beach Motel and runs through the night. The motel rattles and shakes everytime it goes by, which is a lot. Very noisy old, worn down motel which needs a lot of work, walls are paper thin bad location - not near anything except the N train absolutely NOT a good value for the money
The price was about all that was good, and even for that, I'm sure there were probably better places
Old, run down. very hard to find, I lapped the block 3 times before calling to ask where the place was
Parking space, room was OK
Incredibly noisy in the morning due to passing trams
The train passing makes the whole hotel shake; couldn't sleep at all. Heating system cannot be turned off. Refrigerator as noisy as a lawn mower. Carpet better not to touch barefeet
space, refrigerator, microwave , wifi, near beach
Metro is a bit noisy
Location and free parking added to our trip, as well as the great breakfast spot and pub within walking distance. The staff was great!
The carpet, the broken mirror in bathroom and missing towel bar.
The hotel definitely looks better in the pictures , location was good but run down . No air conditioning and the trains right out front runs constantly. Good news easy easy to ride downtown on the train.
No air, constant noise from the train .
