In a nutshell - you get what you pay for. When I booked our room, I didn't realize that there wasn't a microwave or mini fridge in the room, which would have been nice. The walls and ceiling / floors are very thin - on our last night, a family came to stay in the room above ours and it sounded like a herd of elephants! The bathroom was clean but old (squeaky faucet, water damage stains on the ceiling, toilet flushed fine but was very slow). All in all, it was okay but in the future I would spend the extra money and stay in a Holiday Inn or somewhere newer / a bit more up-to-date with more amenities.
What first caught my eye while looking for a hotel was the fact that the Beach Plaza Hotel was right on the boardwalk and had a restaurant on its premises, as well as a porch with rocking chairs. It looked very cozy and quaint, and was convenient being right by the beach. The staff was very accommodating when I had to reschedule due to a family emergency. The price was also within my budget.
