I liked leaving, room was tiny the bed was tiny and really uncomfortable underneath the bed needed a good clean room 401, food in restaurant was ok. Won't be returning.
Hated having to go outside to get to room
location cant be beat, breakfast is excellent. Realize that this is a converted brownstone in beacon hill - rooms will be small compared to modern construction. That is the nature of the historic building.
Since it is an older building the noise is higher than staying at a generic marriot/hyatt/hilton, but it more than makes up for this with character.
Rooms are quite small
Comfy bed and readily adjustable heating
Hadn't appreciated the 14.4% room tax added onto my bill - an extra $40-$50 per night. No toiletries in room. WiFi virtually non-existent. Breakfast very poor quality and they automatically charge an 18% tip even though the breakfast was included in the room rate.
very narrow at the hotel
The staff is more than helpful, the girl at the front desk was great ... Friendly and more than helpful. The room was small, but very clean and amenities were perfect. The location was ideal, can't ask for a better spot to enjoy the history. The price I feel is way to high, but the whole area is expensive, Thanks Beacon Hill for a great stay,
The bistro was delightful, with exquisite food all through the day. Lots of customers coming and going, plus a lively bar in the evening - definitely a popular local venue.
Most rooms overlook the street, which is noisy from very early in the morning.
The location is great so near Boston Common. And the hotel and neighborhood is full of history, charm and great eateries & shops.
The room we were in on the second floor had old single pane windows, and so much fresh air came in that it always felt like there was a window open.
Great staff, location and breakfast.
Small room for the price.
Apart from one waiter the staff were very efficient and friendly. Super location next to Boston Common and very stylish Charles Street.
One sullen waiter who clearly had anger management issues. Breakfast orders not written down which led to continual mistakes. Stained carpets on stairs & corridors. Room 401 only suitable for 1 person as small bed & even smaller wardrobe! Would have benefitted from double glazing to reduce traffic noise & curtains instead of shutters to reduce amount of light in room when trying to sleep. No window in bathroom so evidence of damp on ceiling. Took a marathon to get to room - up in lift, stairs, across an open seating area outside then more stairs!
Rooms very large and clean Staff very helpful And respectful of our privatcy Good bar and restaurant
Just the stairs to our room. We were on the top floor.
The location was perfect for one who was there to see the historic sites The area was old and charming.Food was excellent
The room was very very small. The floor above us was constantly creaking and we could hear dishes being banged around below us. The flat screen television was mounted on the side wall and it was uncomfortable to watch from the bed which was the only place you could watch from except for one chair in the room.
The staff particularly at reception made our stay incredibly easy, they were helpful and well informed. It was so nice to feel they really did want to help us to have a good stay. The meals we ate in the bistro were all good and the bar served a great gin and tonic.
The hotel was a tad noisy but given its location this was to be expected. There was nothing to not like I would certainly recommend the hotel to friends travelling to Boston.
The breakfast was wonderful and the hotel very conveniently placed for exploring Boston.
Bed was a bit too firm, but the staff was awesome!
Location Food in restaurant Breakfast Ambience
Rooms a little small with suitcases but overall a wonderful little spot in the old part of town
The location of the hotel is really good, nestled in the leafy streets of Beacon Hill. The food was top notch and the staff were very friendly. It had a lovely little rooftop terrace perfect for catching a few rays whilst sipping on a glass on something.
Unfortunately its good location also means busy nearby roads where noise pollution throughout the night was fairly bad at times. We only stayed two nights so it didn't affect us too much.
Location was excellent the size of the hotel and facilities were excellent if travelling alone. It was so easy to enjoy Boston from the doorstep on this short visit
There is city noise this May be an issue for some
situation service and welcome terrific breakfast small hotel creative cuisine and wine list
Location Staff Breakfast Ambience
Wifi very patchy
Staff And location And free breakfast
Rooftop Terrace was amazing The bar is small but comfortable and well staffed From the moment entering to the moment departing was a wonderful experience The breakfast was delicious and had no waiting time
Excellent room, superb roof-deck with a nice room of the bustling Charles Street. Brilliant location next to Boston Common/Public Garden and an easy walking distance to most of Boston
A minor point - a room safe would have been nice
Just a lovely hotel - beautiful furnishings, great location, lovely staff and a real identity. It's not cheap but I would love to stay here again. Good restaurant. Fantastic breakfast. On a street full of other dining options and in an area perfect for walking and exploring. It's on a busy street but isn't noisy. Brilliant outdoor area upstairs (noice rattan furniture) where guests can lounge, have drinks and surf on their i-pads/laptops
Not great wi-fi but that's minor - there is an office area where you can work if you find the wi-fi connection in your room isn't great.
Beacon Hill is in a superb location next to the Common on a street filled with little boutiques and restaurants. It has the feel of a small European family hotel, serves a great breakfast and offers a very good bistro and bar for the evening. We liked it so much that we promised ourselves to come back before long.
Wifi non-existent - the only way to connect is via the free Wifi at the cafe across the street. Rooms are quite small but still adequate and very light and clean.
