Hotel Beacon  

I lke the location in the city. Near neighborhood grocers, subway station, restaurants. Very clean, great staff. Lots of travelers from varied countries because it's recommended in Foder's Guide. Makes it fun.

Nothing not to like. I guess I would have preferred a bedroom suite with two queen size or full size beds. Makes more sense when traveling with family members. I will request that next year when we take our May trip to NYC. Definitely will return to The Beacon Hotel.

What a wonderful place to stay in New York! Away from the bustle yet with great access to subway.It was excellent having a supermarket across the road. Also having a good laundry in the hotel was invaluable. Enjoyed the stay very much.

Excellent location in Upper West, near Central Park, near subway, and across the hotel Fairway supermarket is located. And with the small kitchen this made for easy delicious snack food.

Great pre-war hotel -- nicely updated while retaining pre-war architectural detail...located in a fabulous neighborhood ..convenient to everything..with the Beacon Theater right there.

I always like to stay on the upper west side and Hotel Beacon is in a great location! The staff is really nice, the suite offers more space to unpack and have a few more comforts. And it is not a chain!

There was a promo television event going on Monday night which blocked the entire front of the hotel. It would have been nice if we had known of it as I had arranged for a limo which we had to run down several blocks to pick up-in evening clothes and heels. I know this is a regular event for them but it did impact getting in and out.

Great hotel, great neighbourhood. Firendly staff. Cheap laundry facility on 5th floor which was a god send with a young baby. Quiet, spacious rooms. Stayed in Upper West Side 10 times before, but this is the best hotel we've stayed in, and will now be our regular.

Good location, near to subway, central park, restaurants and shops. Very nice rooms.

Location and comfort of bed was outstanding. Having a little kitchen and lounge was fantastic. Able to open the window in the bathroom to allow fresh air in.

The sound of the elevator going up and down. It was very close to my bedroom but after a few nights I got used to it.

Good location away from the crowded hot spots. Central Park is a walk away and is awesome. Subway station is close as well. One of their staff (Ryan Lee) is extremely helpful and can help you with almost anything.

Did not like the mature lady at the reception. Hardly an acknowledgement of our presence, nor a reply to our greeting.

The manager was pleasant but the housekeeping and maintenance staff were appalling.

This hotel is infested with mice & cockroaches: While in the sitting area, a mouse scurried along the wall where the window heating unit was. We then noticed the mouse glue trap under the heating unit. When management was called they sent a maintenance person who came with 2 additional mouse traps. Then when we went into the bathroom to see if the mouse went into the room, a big cockroach or waterbug was on the threshold into the bathroom. The maintenance man promptly killed it and made a point of gleefully showing us the dead cockroach. While we were upgraded and changing rooms, the bellhop who came to help us moved commented, "that's it?" when seeing the three suitcases we had to move. This hotel is the worst my girlfriend and I have ever been in and we're both in our late forties so we've seen many, many, hotels between us for work and leisure.

It has not breakfast in the place.

It was convenient for everything we wanted to do. I felt like a New Yorker and not a tourist.

The bathroom was not as clean as I would have liked. It wasn't bad, but it need a little more scrubbing of the floors.

Our first time staying overnight in New York City. Pleasantly surprised with the quality, cleanliness, decor and great location of the Beacon Hotel. The surrounding shops, grocery stores, eating establishments, and Metro Station #72 were perfect and easy walking distance to get to. The cost was very reasonable for New York hotel rates.

The bathroom was a little small, but was a very minor issue compared to all the many pluses.

in general the hotel and his ambiance and of course the great location. it is a very good hotel. i like very much the kitchennete and the room size. we had a very nice room with a great view. Defnitly i will comback.

it is very important to replace the matresses. Take care about the noise of the A/C.
