Large, beautiful room with rustic comfortable furniture. Peace and quiet, with a view to the athletic field and huge cross-country meet the next morning. Great room, but stained rug in otherwise perfect décor!
Disappointing fare at the bar/lounge; menu is imaginative, but the food comes out overdone, overly salty, and/or not fresh (seafood). The featured jazz musician and vocalist did their best to create a warm, inviting atmosphere.
The location is beautiful: a loveky lake a wonderful possibilities for hiking and biking. The buidling is also stunning, especially the restaurant space. Food good but a little overpriced. The lunch menu is very reasonable.
The room was cold, perhaps because it was the first cold time in the Fall. But staff was not extremely forthcoming with providing extra blankets either. Breakfast is quite poor.
Had a very grand room. Really nice.
Happy hour limited drinks otherwise very expensive.
Hessian Lake, Hudson River, dock, zoo, Perkins Tower,, hiking on the Appalachian Trail.
Breakfast needs better selection. Dish of boiled eggs would be inexpensive and easy to provide.
Location and room were good
There is no resturant most nights!
Completely baffled that there was no outdoor space. Patio deck with chairs for hotel guests to sit and read or look at the stars. No place outdoors to relax as a guest that wasn't. A public bench. You should be upfront that the pool is far from hotel and open to public
-Room was attractive and functional (no view, though) -Lake itself was nice once all the crowds departed late in the evening just before dark
Image of hotel on Booking.com was wildly misleading of the nature of the immediate surroundings - which consist of a dirty gravel parking lot and heavily used walkway for park visitors moving about. Food service was almost non-existent on the weekday evening we were there. There was a buffet breakfast layout the next morning (we were not told about, just discovered it checking out, so missed it because we had not time at that point). Electric room door lock failed. We were locked out of room for 30 minutes just at end of a long travel day.
Very nice retreat. Amazing nature and comfy big unique room
Super location. Great place for hiking, wonderful nature after intense days in NY/NY. Family split: Father and kids hiking and playing, mother spent a day in Woodbury Outlet which is only 15 minutes away. Perfect :). Staff very attentive. Turned (very noisy!) aircon completely off by taking it apart. Phew! Restaurant ('1915') extremely good, although not cheap. Culinary level far beyond expectations. Try the Pinot Noir 'Rainstorm', wonderful and great value for money
Breakfast was not up to standard, especially after the great dinner the night before. Too few choices, although do it yourself waffles were a nice change. But there was too much sugar in everything, too much processed food, too low quality coffee and juices, too few healthy choices - eggs and meat options lacking for a day's activities in the wonderful surroundings
Room a/c had no off
Obviously redone recently.
Limited breakfast choices - no protein. The air conditioning unit was noisy. No evening meals available.
Great location in park. Nice spacious old room with Adirondack type decor. Eating on the terrace was lovely.
The one window in room 313 was located 10 feet down a narrow hallway, near the floor level, and about 2 X 3 feet in size. Restaurants closed on Monday in winter season, which evidently goes through June. Not much education or historical information.
We loved our corner room with a great view of the lake and picnic area. The size, style, and cleanliness of the room made it feel very peaceful and luxurious. I have been coming to Bear Mtn since I was a kid, and have always wanted to stay over at the Inn. It was wonderful & we'll be back. We especially liked having a microwave and mini fridge because at this time of year, there aren't many options for lunch on a weekday.
I would have liked to eat at the Blue Roof tapas bar Monday night. Instead, we drove to Stony Point for dinner - which was good too. We came before Memorial Day, and we loved the quiet - so that's the trade for not having everything open.
The grassy field outside was fun to play in.
The room was quite nice and spacious. The atmosphere is comfortable and relaxing. We were pleased and will probably return for a tranquil overnight getaway .
I didn't like not having access to movie channels with the cable.
location amazing. staff very kind and helpful. rooms and the entire hotel very nicely decorated scenery
poor breakfast. No nearby options for dining.
Overall the new updates are beautiful within bear mountain inn and clean. Husband and I enjoyed our spa treatments, outdoor facilities, dining and well appointed room during our stay! It was a wonderful relaxing retreat!! Will visit again soon
The location is perfect! Among the mountains, 0 minutes from the hiking route. Super friendly stuff, huge king bed and large room!
Water pressure is bit low ( but what can you expect! It's among the mountains!) maybe the only downside is that the AC is too loud. But overall we had a nice stay!
The Bear Mountain Inn. Worth the money. The staff are always helpful & friendly. The food is amazing & the rooms / facilities are great & you get all of this in a location which is truly spectacular at any time of the year.
Couldn't stay longer!
Food was excellent. Although the menu was limited the chef is creative and the food fresh and delicious. The rooms are comfortable although ours had small windows with no views which was a disappointment in such a beautiful location. The area is gorgeous with many early American sites to see and a beautiful lake and walks on the property itself. There is no place to sit inside in a public area and enjoy the scenery although I understand in winter the light the big fireplace on the second floor where there are large windows in the dining room. Thursday night singing by the talented staff is a delight!
Small windows in our bedroom. No place to sit an read or relax for guests outside your room. There is plenty of space on the 2nd floor for the hotel to set us such an area. We suggested it. The hotel is in the process of upgrading.
