Score from 59 reviews Very good
Very nice retreat. Amazing nature and comfy big unique room
Super location. Great place for hiking, wonderful nature after intense days in NY/NY. Family split: Father and kids hiking and playing, mother spent a day in Woodbury Outlet which is only 15 minutes away. Perfect :). Staff very attentive. Turned (very noisy!) aircon completely off by taking it apart. Phew! Restaurant ('1915') extremely good, although not cheap. Culinary level far beyond expectations. Try the Pinot Noir 'Rainstorm', wonderful and great value for money
Breakfast was not up to standard, especially after the great dinner the night before. Too few choices, although do it yourself waffles were a nice change. But there was too much sugar in everything, too much processed food, too low quality coffee and juices, too few healthy choices - eggs and meat options lacking for a day's activities in the wonderful surroundings
Room a/c had no off
Obviously redone recently.
Limited breakfast choices - no protein. The air conditioning unit was noisy. No evening meals available.
Great location in park. Nice spacious old room with Adirondack type decor. Eating on the terrace was lovely.
The one window in room 313 was located 10 feet down a narrow hallway, near the floor level, and about 2 X 3 feet in size. Restaurants closed on Monday in winter season, which evidently goes through June. Not much education or historical information.
We loved our corner room with a great view of the lake and picnic area. The size, style, and cleanliness of the room made it feel very peaceful and luxurious. I have been coming to Bear Mtn since I was a kid, and have always wanted to stay over at the Inn. It was wonderful & we'll be back. We especially liked having a microwave and mini fridge because at this time of year, there aren't many options for lunch on a weekday.
I would have liked to eat at the Blue Roof tapas bar Monday night. Instead, we drove to Stony Point for dinner - which was good too. We came before Memorial Day, and we loved the quiet - so that's the trade for not having everything open.
The grassy field outside was fun to play in.
The room was quite nice and spacious. The atmosphere is comfortable and relaxing. We were pleased and will probably return for a tranquil overnight getaway .
I didn't like not having access to movie channels with the cable.
location amazing. staff very kind and helpful. rooms and the entire hotel very nicely decorated scenery
poor breakfast. No nearby options for dining.
Overall the new updates are beautiful within bear mountain inn and clean. Husband and I enjoyed our spa treatments, outdoor facilities, dining and well appointed room during our stay! It was a wonderful relaxing retreat!! Will visit again soon
The location is perfect! Among the mountains, 0 minutes from the hiking route. Super friendly stuff, huge king bed and large room!
Water pressure is bit low ( but what can you expect! It's among the mountains!) maybe the only downside is that the AC is too loud. But overall we had a nice stay!
The Bear Mountain Inn. Worth the money. The staff are always helpful & friendly. The food is amazing & the rooms / facilities are great & you get all of this in a location which is truly spectacular at any time of the year.
Couldn't stay longer!
Food was excellent. Although the menu was limited the chef is creative and the food fresh and delicious. The rooms are comfortable although ours had small windows with no views which was a disappointment in such a beautiful location. The area is gorgeous with many early American sites to see and a beautiful lake and walks on the property itself. There is no place to sit inside in a public area and enjoy the scenery although I understand in winter the light the big fireplace on the second floor where there are large windows in the dining room. Thursday night singing by the talented staff is a delight!
Small windows in our bedroom. No place to sit an read or relax for guests outside your room. There is plenty of space on the 2nd floor for the hotel to set us such an area. We suggested it. The hotel is in the process of upgrading.
Dinner was great - excellent cooking, excellent presentation, and excellent service. Lunch was also good, and sitting at the outside terrace had good views. A pretty lake was "on premise", and the fall colors were good, though it would be better a week later (i.e. late October).
Check in was at 3pm, a bit later than we would like.
The rooms were beautiful and the scenery and surroundings were great
The service was very slow and a lot of the facilities in the Inn were closed or only open very limited hours
The rooms were spacious and newly redone. The scenery was beautiful
The heating system was antiquated and did not work at all inour room. An auxiliary electric heater in the bathroom worked so we kept it on all night and the room stayed comfortable. We went mid week and dining hall was closed for all meals and only lite menu was offered in the pub area. Same menu both days of our stay. I
Our room and bath were very large and comfortable/cozy...I was sharing with my niece. The detailing throughout the Inn was lovely and bespoke really care in maintaining its rustic design. Inn's proximity to a lake and pleasant areas for strolling made the grounds especially lovely. Food very good. Staff was exceptionally friendly and welcoming.
redone rooms are lovely. restaurant is excellent and not too pricey. breakfast (included in room rate) is quite good.
rooms don't get much sunlight as this is an old historic inn with original small windows. but re-decoration is well done.
The rooms-were roomy and clean! Lovely lodge.
The young woman at the desk was more interested in her computer than us- There was lots of trash in front as we entered the lodge-but once inside, very clean. Served lunch and dinner but no breakfast.
The beauty of the area.
The Inn has been nicely renovated and the setting is lovely. The main dining area is also quite stunning as it possesses the original character of the lodge. Loved the little nature zoo/outdoor museum and the hiking.
The grounds are super crowded and unfortunately given to littering. Could be more food options; breakfast was minimal.
Very cozy and clean rooms
Very difficult to use the TV (the directions on the card were not correct). also, the room temperature could not be regulated
Nature, décors rustique, tranquillité, lac
Manque de personnel, déjeuner continental pauvre
