location room space
noise no wireless / wireless not working a bit run down
location value quiet good bedroom and bathroom
car booking overlooked lot of young travellers hard to get cabs from 40th street
The staff was friendly and helpful. It was very quiet. The room was a lot bigger than we thought it would be. The bathroom was clean and spacious. Lots of closet space.
The beds in the bedroom were very hard, but the pullout couch was comfortable. The elevators were small and slow.
The location is an excellent place to start your NY adventure. Close to Times Square, Empire State Building and Broadway, as well as major shops, restaurants, the subway and Grand Central Station. Our three children aged 12, 10 and 8 who had just spent the 2 previous weeks travelling in smaller hotel rooms loved the openness and space of the one bedroom apartment we stayed in. My wife also found the washing machines and driers on the basement floor very handy. Finally, the staff made us feel welcomed and showed the ever changing friendly face of New Yorkers. Would not hesitate to go back there.
Water pressure in the shower was quite weak.
Central location, sense of security
Slightly outdated facilities (TV, Kitchen), slow Wi-Fi connection
Quite old infrastructure, location is perfect
Smell in the room, quite old infrastructure
The prime location. Value for money. Spacious room. Friendly staff
The heat. But nobody can control that. Thankfully we had great air con
They got our booking wrong and had us checking out a day early so we needed to pay more money for their mistake. Housekeeping use both elevators to clean rooms so it is impossible for guests to use elevators without a 30minute wait We purchased a room with a microwave yet the room had no microwave, when we asked reception about a microwave they said it was by request, so we requested one, 5 days went by and we did not get the microwave we paid for Everyday house keeping left only 2 towels for our party of 3, even after requesting 3 towels we were still only given 2 On one occasion we returned at night to no towels and no pillows on the bed, we called reception about this issue and nothing was done and we were forced to travel down to the basement in the staff only areas and find towels and pillows to take back to our room The service at the Bedford is extremely poor and no staff care at all for your welbeing.
Great location price!
People at the front are either really nice or extremely rude. The facility is outdated.
When you walk on the floor sometimes you hear noises ..
Loved the friendly receptionist as she was pleasant an more than helpful. Would stay if ever went to new york again.
Good and very kind crwe, helpd us in all questions. Great location
Great location for new York for sight seeing as time square walking distance can take hop on hop off from there, and for the price it's cheapest in the area, staff is efficient and helpful
A bit run down hotel, early morning noise of cleaner trucks
Being close to Grand Central Station with its subways, shops, food choices, and shuttle bus drop off from LaGuardia was a real plus. We got a 2 room suite which worked well for us and our two teen granddaughters.
Bathroom accessible only by going through the bedroom and the sound on the TV didn't work on our favorite channels.
The hotel was very quiet - no sirens all night like you get near times Square and most of Manhattan. It was 2 blocks from Grand Central station, 2 blocks from the Chrysler building... Park and 40th is a great area.
The beds were comfortable but when you moved hard you could hear the springs.
We came early morning to New York. So we got to our hotel around 11 am , which is 3 hours before check in time. Nevertheless , front desk lady gave us a keys from our room. After we check out , we were allowed to store our luggage for several hours in hotels storage room .That was really helpfull .
Wasn't anything we didn't like about the hotel ,and about the city .We had a wonderful time .
Good location Spacious accommodation Light cooking facility -tea/coffee making
Could do with a restroom near reception for guests who have to wait for rooms to be ready or for those who have to vacate rooms and wait for late flights.
Helpful friendly staff. Good location. Big room. Easy access to extra towels. Clean.
Carpeted floor in the room. No breakfast. Poor ventilation in bathroom.
good location Fair and reasonable price The small kitchen was helpful. Laundry room
The beds were uncomfortable The street was to noisy Not enough air circulation in the room
Quiet and clean. Convenient transportation with almost everything in walking distance (time square 15 min, grand central 5 min, lots of restaurants)
I have been stayed there for three days, the cleaner didn't put any shampoo, lotion, soap for the last two days. The sofa bed is supposed to sit two people, however, it is tooooooold and in bad condition. We can not use it.
The bell staff was very personable and helpful. During my 6-day stay, I found them to be a nice smiling face when I returned to the hotel after many hours away and working. Also, the air conditioning rocked!
Staying for 6 days, I think that the housekeeping staff perhaps slacked off a bit. Though the bed and towels were always kept fresh, more often than not the coffee pot wasn't rinsed nor had the grounds been removed.
All. Its a lovely hotel made all the more so by staff.
Nothing to not like.
The location. The room had a view of the Empire State building
The a/c was a little dated but functional.
I loved the fact that the Hotel was so close to everything and was comfortable and quite well maintained for it's age. I would happily recommend others to stay there and I would stay there again too.
I was dismayed to here that that the Hotel is being upgraded to a 5 star hotel and will be renovated accordingly. This I fear will destroy it's ambience and take away that special thing that it has. It will also make it impossible for me to stay there again as it will be out of my price range. On another note -one of my travelling companions who left the hotel three days after I checked out, managed to lose his wallet (together with US400 and all his cards, in the hire car that tool him and his partner to JFK airport. Not the Hotel's fault of course - but it was the hire car company that the Bedford recommended and called on their behalf. When my friend, who had arrived in San Francisco after a very stressful flight, telephoned to enquire as the the hire car company's name, the fellow at the desk declined. We are fairly sure that the limo driver was the culprit, as a payment was deducted at a fuel stop and what tourist would either bother or need to buy fuel for their car? Just thought you should be aware.
