The front desk got my original reservation completely wrong. Instead of a room with two beds, they gave us a room with one bed. Traveling with my niece, one bed was inappropriate. Moved to a new room, we were given bunk beds that had pillow-top mattresses that were comfortable, but the individual reading lights and TVs at the foot of each bed didn't work, sleeping in the bottom bunk was like sleeping in a turbine engine the air-conditioning was so noisy throughout the night, and no one on the staff could ever fix anything. The bathtub had not been adequately cleaned, there was no iron or ironing board, no closet, just a hook with three hangers on the wall, and the bathroom was unusually small and very cramped. Once you left the elevator, the halls were barely wide enough for one person, conveying the feeling of being in a rabbit warren.
I selected this hotel for it's location, which is around the corner from our apartment (which was being painted). It's very convenient to NYC buses 104, 7 and 11, and subways 1, 2 and 3, and very good neighborhood restaurants (Bodrum (Turkish), Mermaid Inn (seafood), and Quest (American continental).
The hotel while quite small, has lovely high-end finishes, polite front desk staff, the free wi-fi worked very well and was an easy connection.
