Great location, you can walk to downtown, BART, campus, etc. It's clean enough. Older infrastructure with not many updates (ripped carpet etc.), but definitely not gross or anything. Has a mini fridge and microwave. A/C was effective for quickly cooling things down after being out of the room all day. This is the place you stay when you're not going to be in the room at all. Would not stay here for any sort of romantic weekend or anything, this is not that kind of place (nor does it bill itself as one).
Keys to the room didn't work reliably. Homeless person sleeping by the stairs didn't bother me since I was staying on the 2nd floor (strongly recommend 2nd floor over 1st). Housekeeping knocked on the door in the morning when we were still sleeping. Front desk not outright rude but not friendly at all either. Worst thing is the towels were not clean looking and had other people's hair stuck to them, random other black stuff (maybe mascara stains?), etc. Sheets had stains too. They bleach the heck out of the bathroom tile but not the linens...
I was very happy with location as I was visiting my grandson who attends Berkeley College. I didn't care for the rate on Friday night but understand about weekends. Slept very well and no noise.
The room was dirty.
Location was perfect for us. Room quite satisfactory.
Unfortunately by the last day & later, we have bedbug bites. I phone & notified the manager. Everything else was fine.
short distance to UCB campus
totally overpriced, basic, surroundings not very nice
For my purposes of doing research at UC Berkeley, this was an excellent location. I appreciated being able to park my car there and take a bus to campus. Manager was very friendly and welcoming.
The carpet and upholstered chairs are old and musty. I left the window open most of the time to clear the air. I see there is a construction project underway- perhaps remove carpet for a nice clean wood floor.
shabby furnishings. threadbare towels,
The place was clean and easily reachable
Breakfast is a joke - they would do a better thing if they stopped advertising they have a breakfast.
Bathroom was small
A few minutes walk from down town Berkeley but still in a quiet area (if you get a room far from the busy road). The room was big. The staff were ok.
The staff were ok but not more than that. A bit expensive, but not more than other nearby hotels.
Room safe did not work, they did not fix it and they still charged $1.50/day for it
I've always had a good experience at this place.
I've been staying at this place for several years now and its getting a little pricey.
Comfortable room/ good bed/ microwave/ fridge
A bit noisy at times, fan or equipment operating outside(may not have been Travelodge)
I liked the central location in Berkeley and the housecleaning staff.
Perhaps I am spoiled, but it did not seem like a good value.
This is a very clean and comfortable hotel. It is simple but works very well.
There is no breakfast room and it is very limited, but that is OK.
I was able to check in an hour earlier, and the owner was very friendly.
Location and comfy bed
Bathroom in need of maintenance - peeling paint; heater did not work first night we were there and we had to put it on max to get it to come on at all
Location in berkeley is good: handy for the university, great restuarants nearby, overall seemed pretty clean
The room was very worn, a slight musty smell, the shower was pretty poor, sheets and towels a little stained in places (although clean), only chair was a rocking chair (!) so not ideal for working at the desk!
location to Berkeley campus was good, bed ok
Bathroom was not clean. Hair on the sink, shower door sticking and dirty on the edge, window sill was dirty.
The cleaning lady is wonderful!
Good location, clean, quite.
The location is great! Near Berkeley Rep. and restaurants.
We requested a ground floor room, and got one upstairs. We requested 1 queen bed and got 2 doubles. The wall lights didn't work. The "sleepy bear' drapes and lampshades are ghastly! Way overpriced for quality.
First of All, it was adertised as queen room with queensize two beds. ( 4 people can stay). However, the room was ordinary room. As i stayed before three times, i kner htat is not the queensize room. I complained to the desk, But he said "you signed at the internet." That is all. I felt i was completely cheated. US 190 dollars per nite is not cheap. Seven days stay was terrible. Booking company should know this bad adertisement and compensate this wrong fact to me. I hope that I can get somemoney back. Thank you for your attentions. Seong Soo Choi Professor of physics,
