we have stayed at various best western hotels and el rancho is one of the best.we stayed for one night on arrival in sanfrancisco then decided to reserve a room on our return before flying back to the uk.we asked the lady in reception for a front room but none were available so she upgraded us to a queen double at no extra cost.she also gave us great info on how to explore the city using the bart train system and keeping the expense down(a great adventure). all of the staff couldn't be more helpful. thanks.

The Reception staff were very pleasant and helpful as was the driver from and to the airport who delivered our bags and picked them up next morning. The rooms were well maintained and clean and the linen was not tired. I appreciated the convenience of free WIFI. The menu choice and dinner itself was as good as we have had in more expensive establishments and the complimentary breakfast was very welcome

Convenient for airport Airport shuttle assumed all passengers had cars - some did not but were asked to remain on bus whilst all passengers with cars collected their cars from hotel car park before being dropped at the lobby to check in

Close to sfo, within per diem rates ($111/night for San Mateo, Millbrae, etc.). ok for overnight before flight. Old, getting too old to keep clean, musty. Too few electrical outlets for modern needs. At some point this hotel needs complete remodel or teardown/rebuild.

Free shuttle to the airport I was very disappointed in this hotel. There was no luggage dolly, yet I was staying at the furtherest part of the hotel. When I asked for help, the front desk help seemed annoyed. My room was right beside a train, with it's horn going all night. This was not mentioned as a possibility on the online booking info. I chose this hotel because it was close to the airport, but with the train right beside it, I was not able to sleep much and was awakened at 5:30 am. Would never recommend or go back.

Beautiful place, well located, good restaurant with fine food. Fine service and guest support. I had to be at SFO airport at 3:00AM, so I needed the shuttle bus to take me to the airport at 2:30AM. The night before, I requested the bus and Frontdesk informed me that I would be waken up at 2:15AM and that the bus would be waiting in front of my room at 2:30AM. None of this happened. There was no wake up call and no bus was available at 2:30AM. I ran to Frontdesk and the lady didn't know anything about it. The bus finally appeared at 2:50AM.

Convenience for visiting sf at a fair price. Nice restaurant with cozy fireplace in the bar area. Very good margarita'S. The rooms need to be better soundproofed or you should provide complimentary earplugs in the rooms or lobby. The airplane noise and the noise from Bart made it near impossible to get to sleep.

The rooms were great! Clean and very comfortable. My father and I were traveling to Hawaii for his 90th birthday, the location and 24 hour airport shuttle was a excellent. The attendent treated me poorly and said there wasn't a reservation for me. Only one room with one bed. My reservation clearly stated 2 rooms. This was not a trist... simply a woman traveling with her father, not something else... (The rest of the story) When I checked us in at the Dallas Airport (United Airlines) I was not told that our luggage would be checked all the way through to Hawaii. Thus we arrived without bags. My father loved it.... Put a big smile on his face while I was beat red! Thanks Best Western for making my fathers 90th birthday such fun!!!

It's a great hotel to be either before traveling california or just before you leave to the airport. Near to airport, free parking, very nice rooms and friendly staff. The Airport Shuttle could be organized little better. Had the experience that I had to call shuttle service several times, before the shuttle arrived at the airport. We were waiting for about 45min.
