There wasn't a eating establishment
It was located within walking distance to soldier field since we were going to the game. Close by to the Union Station/Mega bus. It served our purpose well. Bed was very comfortable
the bathroom was cramped.
bed was very comfortable, room was nice
bathroom needed upgrading, tap had slow drip making noise all the time, room fan/heater was on and off a lot disturbing sleep. hallway old and dirty looking, elevator sometimes had to close doors a few times before going down.
Bed was very comfortable, room and restroom were clean. Location in the loop.
-location is perfect -bed very comfortable -staff friendly
-bathroom ridiculously old -walls are paper thin so the comfort of your stay can be very dependent on your neighbor
The intervention of a very professional female manager who not only offered us a choice of alternative room but upgraded us to compensate for the arrogant and surly behaviour of the initial receptionist. It was a shame our first impression of this hotel was so badly spoilt because absolutely every other staff member could not have been nicer. The room we were given was on the 9th floor and had a bright double aspect..... A million times better than the first room offered. The furniture was light and decor like the website unlike the dark wood and plain decor of the first room. We were told this hotel was due an upgrade and frankly that will not be a moment too soon.
My husband greeted the young female receptionist and was initially ignored. We were totally polite but she appeared to take a dislike to us for some reason because not only did she initially pretend not to find our reservation, but she then rudely demanded documentation and ID, using terms like "I need" without so much as a please. She then gave us an awful dark and dingey room ( nothing like website pics). It had dark wood furniture, plain decor and condensation pouring down the windows, pooling into a rusty metal rail at the bottom , a musty smell and a dripping tap. We returned to reception to be confronted with the same receptionist who challenged my description of the room by sarcastically retorting that I should look outside, it was dark and dingey weather. I think this rude, arrogant girl is in the wrong profession and Best Western should review her conduct towards guests. Thankfully an extremely professional and apologetic manageress took over and upgraded us for our poor service.
Place was very outdated
The location is great. Walking 10 minites to the heart of the downtown Chicago. Parking in the next building and amnities area very clean and tidy. I highly recommend it.
Location, price, and staff are all simply wonderful!
The worst thing I can think of to say about the hotel is that the décor is a tad dated. That didn't matter to us, though, because it is clean, comfortable and has welcoming, helpful staff.
The staff was fabulous. Helpful, courteous and made me genuinely welcome.
the room was so small we could barely walk around the beds. You could clearly hear the conversations in the next room - very uncomfortable. The elevators were small, slow and unclean
The hotel was close to soldier field, so we were able to walk to the Field for the game we came in to see. We didn't need our car all weekend which is great in Chicago traffic. It was really quiet as well which is surprising for a rugby trip and the staff did a great job handling the drunks. (Rugby + Halloween = crazies)
The room seemed a little run down, but was still good for the price. It was a little unnerving that there was a walkway around the 4th floor outside our window. I know the hotel room windows don't open so no one could break in that way, but it was still uncomfortable.
Good and easy access to many places downtown.
Stale smell of the carpets
Horrible! Dirty, run-down. Got out of there as fast as I could. This is not worthy of Best Western.
Nice location. Amazing stuff and very good location. Worth of the money you pay for it
Staff have a "too bad, this is it" attitude. Like 1979, complete with dirt from 1979. Check out the floor on the 6th floor - built like a ski jump it sags 6" in the middle. I left a day early to get the heck out of Chicago because of this place
The location was good. It is a reasonably priced hotel for Chicago and is clean and comfortable.
There is no breakfast served at the hotel, however, there is a small private restaurant attached to the building. There is also an excellent restaurant called Yolk just next door that serves good food from 7:00AM-3:00PM for reasonable prices.
location and prise
coughing from next room
Staff conscientous and pleasant. Location (room facing the Park & Lake).
Noisy outside my door at 2 to 3 a m. Fitness Room machines not maintained. Weight machine broken. Lobby grim, in need of a makeover.
Noisy. Run down
Clean for the price..
Booked a king arrived just before 3pm check in they gave us 2 twin beds on a low floor very loud..
Staff are polite and very accessible even in the early morning. Bed is very comfortable!!! Two computers in the lobby are very helpful with some seatings near by - great use of the space. (My husband was waiting for me comfortably while I was using a PC.)
Next door neighbor made a lot of noise. However I was too tired to complain to the hotel staff. It could be that some renovation or small fixing of the structure was going on on the night of 10/23.
needs rehabitating. /acoustic ceiling in the bathroom(?) falling off ceiling. Same in the bedroom.
In the room beside the windows carpet saturated and discolored due to leak possibly from the window.
