The location of the hotel is excellent and is the key feature for this place.
The rooms were falling apart. When we arrived our toilet didn't work. It broke a further twice in 24 hours. The staff didn't turn up to fix it promptly and we were refused a room change. The water at the hotel was turned off on our final day and the hotel put a tiny sign up warning guests of this the day before so there was next to no notice. The rooms were cleaned daily but there were hairs in the bathroom and it wasn't clean when we arrived.
The staff and the front desk were really nice. The hotel was centrally located which was perfect for what we needed.
We were only there for a week and within that time one day there was no hot water because a pipe broke..then a day later there was no cold water, only scalding water. Also throughout the whole stay the air conditioning unit made this horrible clanging sound and there was a banging noise outside of our window usually in the middle of the night.
Hotel is in an excellent location.
Customer services does not exist at this hotel, even when you are checking in you are ignored apart from the words "card. id" you are then given your room key. Checking out was no different, the man was on the phone when finished I said I wanted to check out, he didn't speak apart from saying you are OK to go!!!!! The staff need to go on a customer service course they let Best Western down. Rooms are small, shower sounds like a pneumatic drill when on.
Loved being in the thick of the city, close enough to walk to most tourist destinations including restaurants.
We had 3 (out of 12) days without any hot water, in winter! The staff were often unnecessarily rude and were reluctant to provide additional help. We wouldn't book here again.
It was central to everything.Staff were on the ball when we said we had no heating in the room it was fixed by the time we came back.staff were polite helpful and smartly dressed. We would recommend this hotel to anyone travelling to New York.
Every morning water pipes rattling about 6am.We were aware they were trying to fix this but hadn't managed the week we were there
Good location near Times Square
1. It is ridiculous for the hotel to claim that they offer free WiFi in the rooms! There was absolutely no signal in the rooms. The only alternatives for internet were standing in the corridor or a PC at the reception, standing, in plain sight and with a time limit of 10 min. It was completely disappointing, since I need internet access for my work and that was one of the main reasons I chose this hotel. 2. The toilet was clogged three times in 10 days. 3. At the time of our arrival the heating and the safe were not functioning. We had to complain twice, then miss an appointment and wait for the technician to fix them. 4. On the day of our departure we had to leave out luggage for storage for a couple of hours. Not only did we have to pay for the luggage to be stored in the middle of the reception (simply unacceptable in a 200EUR a night hotel), but as we picked them up my suitcase was damaged! All in all, nothing even close to a 4-star hotel. Definitely not worth the money!
Location was fantastic
The bathroom, shower looked dirty the water wasn't running properly, toilet kept blocking
Great location in Times Square, close to a few subway stations.
Stayed for a week and found that, other than the location, this hotel doesn't have that much going for it. The first night that we arrived, there was no hot water for the entire hotel. Our room hadn't been properly serviced before we arrived, and we had trouble getting it serviced after that- despite leaving the correct signs on the door etc. The room was tiny- absolutely no room for our two suitcases! And there's nothing in the way of kitchen facilities. We had needed to get a document printed, which also turned out to be massively problematic, with staff not being particularly helpful.
The location was great, just a 1/2 block off Broadway near Time Square. Staff was prompt and helpful.
First room was either too hot or too cold and couldn't be controlled. Water was never very hot in the second room's shower. Electrical outlets were not conveniently placed.
The room too small. The heating not functioning (first I was freezing then after fixing I was suffocating). No tablet in the bathroom, damaged bath. Very pricy.
No desayuno por el precio
didnt get our request of 2 small beds instead of 1 double bed which we thought had been booked and which caused a bit of upset when checking in and hotel staff blamed booking.com
2nd room we were given was twice the size of the 1st room, clean, very comfy bed.
1st room we were given was by the lifts, which were so noisy it sounded like someone was drilling and banging on the other side of the wall. The room was very small but we were expecting this. We asked to move rooms and were placed in another room twice the size and much quieter thankfully. Double beds in each room were only 4 foot wide instead of the standard 4 foot 6 inches, this seemed to be the case for all rooms which we caught a glimpse of when they were being cleaned. Staff were ok with us but not particularly helpful to other guests who had issues with their rooms. You definitely get what you pay for, fine if you are out and about all day but expect small beds, tiny rooms (unless you were lucky like us) and avoid being near lifts at all costs!
Great location. Cute decor. Very clean. Helpful staff
AC was a bit noisy but fortunately didn't have to Use it much. Had it been Summer it might have been a problem
Reception staff and small badic room vs cost
Location,room was large, Bathroom awesome!
Tv didn't work well Heat/AC did not work well Hair dryer broken Tub facet did not work
Location was ok. The staff was very nice.
We had no heat for 3 days, a toilet that would not flush, no maid service twice and garbage under one bed. A mess up in booking, however, the management was excellent and made things right. I would stay again, I think they are in transition and will fix the problems. I have always liked Best Western.
Heater didn't work. Complained & maintenance came to fix it. It worked for an hour then stopped working again. Called front desk told me to turn it off and wait an hour and try again. This isn't acceptable when it is -2 degrees outside. Heater made loud clicking noises all night. I thought it was going to blow up!! We had the do no disturb on the door while we are out because I don't like maid entering my room while I have valuables lying around. Maid cleaned our room which I was not impressed about. Overall would not recommend this hotel you can tell when you are in a "2 star hotel"
Location Helpful and sympathetic staff
Small bed Noisy Heating/cooling system Noisy room close to piping shaft and elevators
The bed was very comfortable. The theme was good.
The staff were unwelcoming and made you feel like you were a bit of a nuisance. There wasn't a desk in the room. The room was clean but needed a lot of tlc and updating ie: carpets flat no pile, bathroom needs renewing and the lights were too dim,no lead for the radio/docking station. Just very tired looking, our room had a view of a wall 3ft away. Very over priced not value for money at all. Won't go back.
Location was amazing! The size of the suite was also surprising as we were expecting a tiny room. We were pleased with the ease of entering and exiting. Rooms were cleaned each day, more than enough towels and supplies were in the room. When we asked for extra blankets, they were brought in promptly. We would definitely recommend this hotel to others visiting New York City.
The comfort of the fold out bed was awful- like sleeping on a rock!! Also, a few of the front desk staff were very rude and not helpful at all. I had heard about this in previous reviews and from people that stayed at the hotel. Was disappointed to find it was true. Best Western really needs to work on training their front of the house staff in friendliness. After all, they are in the business of customer service. Other than that, everything was great.
The Location was great and the staff was at the main desk was very nice.
The heating system did not work and leaked water on the floor. Had to leave a day early do to a death in the family and the hotel management could not reimburse us for that day.
staff helpfulness cleanliness location
