Had to wait at the front desk for a few minutes for someone to get there. TV had to be fixed so I could watch it. The restaurant was closed so I had to go out to find a place to eat. Paid $162.00 and it didn't include breakfast. Probably will not be staying there again. Could have stayed at a motel, and been just as comfortable.
Kcups in room, suite upgrade since booking.com did not inform bethel inn I needed 2 beds
No breakfast, no refrigerator
Enjoyed the helpful staff, the clean and quiet room, and availability to close amenities-and especially how close it was to Montreal.....I would return.
The room was shabby and gave a feeling of unclean
Excellent breakfast served by attentive and pleasant staff.
Rude and dismissive staff upon arrival . No information provided re the facilities. Good gym and wide variety of equipment but very disappointing spa , hardly a spa really just a treatment room .Room very cramped and small , hardly any room to move around the bed . Furniture was very dated and worn , no free surfaces to place personal items . Ensuite clean but small . Absolutely nothing to do if the weather is poor as it was on our stay ! Pool closed , golf course closed and Bethel itself has nothing to offer in the rain ! Once 8% tax AND 18% resort tax is added to your bill this is a Ridiculously expensive hotel with lower than average facilities compared to the other12 hotels we stayed at on our trip throughout New England
Great small Maine town. Very nice hotel with good staff.
No wifi in guest rooms
This time of year it is a very beautiful area to stand in.
I requested early check-in week advance and I got there at 2:10 and the lady was very rude to me at the front desk and advised me to come back in 45 minutes. I had a wedding at 4 o'clock. The shower head mold everywhere.
View weather pub
Did not receive daily hotel-type room service bathroom never cleaned room never vacuumed. Towel exchange and poor bed making only
Beautiful location; pleasant staff; and a comfortable suite
Traveled with friends who were unhappy with their regular /non-suit room in one of the outer buildings. Would have preferred an omelette station and more fruit at breakfast
The food was delicious at the restaurant and the setting was beautiful. The rooms were clean and comfortable. Very friendly waitresses in the restaurant.
Hidden costs. Not really resort quality to charge resort fees. Price overall - rooms and restaurant were high. Living area in room was outdated.
Excellent dinner and wonderful buffet breakfast!
The authenticity of the buildings history was absolutely charming. The heated pool, golf course, and lake house added fun and relaxation to our stay.
The mattresses were terribly hard. Significant disparate rates were found on the Internet and not honored by phone staff. And, the phone staff who took my questions about booking was very rude and lacked professionalism.
Attitude of people
Felt the room was overpriced and it certainly wasn't top of the line for cleanliness. Wing chair looked liked it hadn't been cleaned in years. No cups for coffee in the AM, sofa had floor had not been vacuumed for some time. Just not top notch and maybe we have just used the Balsams Resort as a comparison and there is none.
The grounds and property were nice
The food and bar service was marginal at best.
The swimmingpool was under reconstructie and there was no gsm connection possibel
Very pretty and classic New England resort. Room was large and tasteful, fireplace was a nice touch.
I literally ran the hot water for 10 minutes (really-I made a phone call during it) before it was actually warm.... Just an inconvenience not the end of the world. However, as I got out of the shower in nothing but a towel I grabbed at the last minute! - house keeping entered my room, apparently they didn't know that anyone was in my room. Scared the hell out of me and it was almost me standing there naked!
One of the front desk staff members was cold and slightly condescending.
Location, Breakfast and Breakfast staff, overall ambience
Rooms need updating Bedding needs to be replaced.
Staying there was a comfortable, cozy experience. It's an old fashioned inn with many modern amenities.
Wi-Fi was very slow, both evening and morning. My bath-tub drain leaked so it was difficult to take a hot bath (after a day of skiing). I used a piece of plastic film to try to stop the leakage. Also, I stayed in a central room, next to the stair case, and it was very noisy with people coming into the inn late at night.
the place was nasty, employees Rude. I reservation for one night and i get charged for 2 nights.
Nice roomy accommodations. More than we expected. Staff was very friendly.
Away from the hotel / accommodations. The dinner was good, but not special (prices would indicate otherwise).
My husband and I love the hospitality there. We love just relaxing and going down stairs to the pub... The live music is always really good. The full breakfast that they offer is perfect!! We love to come back again and again.
There was only one problem and it is small. Our room airconditioner is not insulated well for the winter. You walk by it and you feel the cold coming in. I actually had our bottle of waters next to it and they stayed chilled. Not a biggy but it's chilly.
The room was large and well appointed. The fireplace was warm and comforting on a VERY cold night.
The outdoor pool was closed due to a malfunction, not surprising considering the weather conditions.
The tavern was nice. The town of Bethel is lovely.
The first room we were in was uncomfortable (two twins pushed together attempting to be a king) and without sufficient heat. We were switched to a suite that was nicer and in the main building. Having stayed in the suite, I would not pay full price for it as the jacuzzi did not work properly and the furniture was not very nice. Interactions with the staff were less than ideal and did not make me feel welcome or appreciated as a patron. In the end we paid a lot for a bad experience. I will not stay there again.
