Score from 11 reviews Very good
Even though I know it caused some difficulty for the B&B staff, Betsy let me stay well past check-out time so I could work in my room.
I couldn't figure out how to work the remote controls for the tv after coming in too late to ask Betsy.
Sitting room with cozy stove
We had a huge, bright room. I Think they'd updated lighting in reponse to customer suggestions. This was a great B&B
Friendly and accommodating staff. Quaint decor without being too fussy.
Rooms are lovely Excellent breakfast Helpful staff Great location
Location. Very good breakfast.
Tiny bathroom. Not good WI-FI. Didnt like being asked for staff gratuities.
We loved Betsy's, the house was wonderful and the staff and Betsy herself were wonderful to us. The food was terrific and plentiful and the breakfast companions were always fun. Montpelier is a great little town and all that we expected and much more, wish we would have had another day or two to really explore the whole area - highly recommend a stay here
the grade of the hill is a bit challenging for a block or two if you are walking, but really no big deal, just a heads up!
No one arrived at the door after door bell rang after 3 times. We then went inside and heard voices so we waited an finally went looking for a person. The b&b looked tired and needs a makeover
Brekfast was very good. Had a nice seating area outside room
Bathroom terribly small. We were housed next door to the main B&B. NOT suitable for seniors, steps to second floor bedroom very steep. The whole place was very"tired" and could use a thorough cleaning, especially the windows & baseboards. Bedroom had a 12" TV
The place was very clean. The staff was nice and engaging. We could walk to town to the capitol building and dinner. Coffee was available all day.
Wifi was spotty. The B&B consists of three different buildings. However we sat on the main porch to use it and met several nice couples in doing so!
The houses, three of them, are Victorian and reasonably well restored and the furniture chosen goes well with the period of the house. The breakfasts were reasonable and served in a friendly and cheerful manner. Location is good and there are several decent places to eat nearby. Parking is fine with only a few guests, might not be so good with a full house.
The owners seem a little detached, leaving the work to the young ladies who, fortunately, we friendly and helpful. The decor could be described as Victorian Gothic and some will love it but we found it dark and overbearing. Spread over 3 adjoining properties you feel distant from the core, could be a bit tricky in bad weather too. Although fairly close to the centre of town it is up a steep hill so it's a bit of a trek rather than a pleasant stroll.
The people were great - especially the kitchen staff. When you ask for an over-easy egg, that's what you get!
The early morning wake-up (7 AM) by the heavy duty front end-loader! Having to get up to move our vehicle (actually I was already awake, because of the front-end loader). It was a wonderfully cool morning, so we had the windows open - and the exhaust fumes came straight into our room. Not at all pleasant! Non-availability of a first floor room was also not appreciated - 100% disabled veteran. Tough carrying suitcases up the stairs.
There was a great variety of food to choose from. Tea, coffee, fruit, muffins and cereal was available before breakfast. Eggs, sausage, bacon, and oatmeal was prepared as ordered and everything was tasty. Staff is very organized and relaxed and appeared to get along well. Great old houses with antiques that provided a restful atmosphere to sleep in. Overall, good old fashioned Southern hospitality in Yankee country.
Can't think of one thing.
Location was good. Breakfast was well prepared and presented
Antiquated TV. Cobwebs in bathroom. Owner was interactive but conversation had to be initiated by us
hospitality, location, awesome food, clean
very comfortable B and B , within easy walking distance of centre. We arrived late but were left key and info on porch to let ourselves in . Had a very good meal at the NECI restaurant. Lovely breakfast too.
Place was old and tired in much need of renovation and making it brighter.
The breakfast was fine.
We were relegated to the house next door. Room was rather dark. Fortunately there was no rain when we had to go for breakfast. We thought the décor a bit shabby. A plus was that the room was on the back, hence very quiet.
Great breakfast, served by friendly staff. Excellent location, very quiet and peaceful yet only a few minutes from the centre of Montpelier. Very comfortable room
old world charm of the building and room. Plenty of parking.
The request to provide a gratuity to the cleaning and cooking staff when breakfast was an included item in the advertising.
BREAKFAST WAS GOOD
WE DID NOT GET THE ROOM WE ASKED FOR. THE GROUND FLOOR ROOM WAS VACANT. WOULD NOT STAY AT THIS PLACE AGAIN. IT WAS JUST TOO DIFFICULT TO CLIMB THE STAIRS
food and bathroom supplies. skimpy
We had a room in the separate house which included the use of a separate lounge. This wd perfect for our needs. Also the breakfast was very good and offered sufficient choices.
Very friendly people. Excellent service. Beautifully decorated. Would happily stay there again.
